True. I doubt the cops will take it seriously at first. Some bigwigs will have to get their hair in a knot over it and then some sacrificial victims will be thrown on the fires of hate to appease their gods, then two hours later they’ll be dropping F-bombs like a terrorist with greasy fingers.
The major damage caused by profanity isn’t the exposure it gets from the ears of little kids. It’s our everyday use of language that is ruined when we are too lazy or unable to express ourselves other than through the use of profanity. Language is cool and all, but since we don’t practice it often enough, majority of our insults and such are watered down to a “fuck you”. It’s the same situation when you hit your funny bone on a corner and say “ouch!”…or “fuck!” It’s reflexive and we don’t even bother to think about it. And that’s how many people talk, without thinking of what they are saying. I find it sad how we teach English and language in schools, yet don’t encourage its use of expression very well when speaking with others.
They don’t need to make laws about cursing and give people fines. It would turn into a disaster. How would they report it? People would just accuse one another and the system would get bogged down in “cussing complaints” doing nothing but wasting taxpayer dollars.
These kinds of problems are supposed to be addressed by a community. Creating an environment that shuns people would curse or step out side of that communities social boundaries would be the proper way to do it. People will enforce the rules themselves. No need to make laws about everything. Sooner or later there will be so many laws that the police will be able to pick people up whenever they want for nearly anything you’ve done. This is the start of the police state.
Because the idea behind a fine is to make a person STOP doing behavior that is detrimental to society. Like insurance for your automobile. Get caught driving without it and you get a fine. This is a GOOD law because it creates chaos when people drive around with no way to cover in case of an accident.
The cussing law is a BAD one. People will not stop cussing because of a fine. They will still cuss in private, and guess what? They will slip up in pubic as well because it’s a form of EXPRESSION. You cannot fine people for their form of expression in the general public. In a school or government building, sure. That’s their turf, and it makes good sense, as it’s preventing something that’s actually detrimental. But just out on the street or at the mall or some shit. Nope. Horrible.
How about everyone walk around with their cellphones out and record people with the videocamera. If you catch someone cursing, you use that proof to punch them in the face. That’s a little something I like to call
Of course, there will always be someone, or a group of people to push it too far. If this law were to go through and all things went down the line, I’d be F’ing surprised.
