Stop begging for ONLINE fighters . .this is driving me crazy

Well I mean I’ve heard it many many times before.

You saw the making of Soul Calibur 3 movie at Ign right? The guy says something along the lines of “not including online play, but giving the fans a much more complete and finished product packed with a ton of extras”

I dont hate online because I just flat out hate it. I dont like laggy online when I can get those extras that wouldnt be included otherwise.

I guess I’m lucky to have human competition and decent arcade setups so I cant feel the pain of ONLY having ps2 online enabled or Xbox live.

The fuck are you talking about I follow you around everywhere?

Who might you be?

Maybe you were saying some assinine shit and had your foot wedged deep into your mouth, just like here. I put retards in their place all the time, you were probably another fetal alcohol poster denied.

This thread sticks out like Yao Ming in a kindergarten schoolroom.

Of course no one said business was moral. The point of my last response was that it’s better business to put an online feature in there for the casual players. So let the beggars beg.

Twice in your response you make up shit out of the blue, to attempt to save face. You fail.
Nobody looks good with shoe laces stuck between their teeth.

EDIT: Know what? Forget it, I don’t even want to get into anything with anyone in threads similar to these anymore.

Although he’s pretty abrasive, graffiti DOES have a point buried under all the blah-blah.

Soul Calibur will likely be a MUCH better game for them not bothering with online play. From the beginning they can focus strictly on offline gameplay and features, so it’ll be jam-packed with really nice extras.

Conversely, Gran Tourismo 4 got pushed back for over a year while they tried to make the game work for online play, then they finally decided it was taking too long so they released without it. Instead they made wack-ass (though somewhat useful) photo and B-spec modes.

N

^^ While true, it doesn’t change the fact that most offline fighters still usually come with no extra features or shitty ones (devil within)

That just demonstrates a low level of “give a fuck” in the first place. If they didn’t have the time or inclination to develop decent offline modes, how could they have possibly made online play that’s worthwhile at all? Enabling online play takes a hell of a lot more work.

N

you kinda have a point, but then consider the fact that most of capcom’s fighters with no online mode don’t have any more features than ones that do have online, but their online isn’t too bad.

Online has helped a lot of people step up their game that otherwise wouldn’t have had the chance considering it’s hard to even find an arcade nowadays (seriously, how many arcades do you think are in Altus, Oklahoma?). Sure, there’s lag sometimes, but you know what I do? Just don’t play that person again. Kind of like playing a person on a machine that has a button sticking, or the down-back on the joystick not working, or the monitor with a bad glare with bad burn in. There’s reasons to criticize both ways of playing other people. When it’s good - it’s good. When it sucks - it sucks. You aren’t unearthing the key to the universe with saying lag sucks.

Step up their game? WHAT?

Just a minute ago I was supposed to come to the understanding that all online play should be considered casual.

Now there is a difference among people FOR online play.

I have played thousands of people with thousands of playing styles all across the good ol united states and have become 10X better at CVS2 and 3rd Strike all because of xbox live. when i go up to the arcade to play “FOR REAL” I’m an above average player. Funny thing is Even though the arcade is only 10 minutes away and I can play on a couple bucks for quite a while if its busy, I like playing on live better!!! OMG he’s crazy no way… yeah thats right I like playing online BETTER!!! than the funky ass rundown arcades that are left in the states. Realize that there are thousands of good players online and i can learn something new everday from them, on my way to becoming a great player. I also don’t sweat my online record cause I just wanna get better and that means playing people who are better than you so your record will probrably suffer.

I think your problem is one or more of these

A. You thought you were good at streetfighter till you got online and got your ass smashed good. (this happened to me it was a wake up but I used it as motivation to get better.)Your reaction was denial, tuck tail, never look back… blame it on lag and negative frames and bs like that. there are great players who play online not just one or two like there’d be at a local arcade. you cant deal with the fact that you are possibly just an average (or below average)player amongst other dedicated streetfighter players.

B. Your ass is just broke

C. Your just a dumbass who likes to expose himself as a dumbass. Not only should you play your fighters offline you should post offline in a gay little diary that you can just keep to yourself and not waste our time with these really gay posts

…like playing online MORE
heh, anyway, reading this thread, every page graffiti seemed to calm down, so it doesnt seem too bad to post all the flame anymore
Ok, Im not an expert in fighting games, but I can say I know a bit about lag, learned a thing or two over the years.

Lag is shitty and in a cutthroat match will definitely ruin the experience, the thing is its the future of gaming. Otherwise this will all fade away, gotta face that sometime.
Now, SC3 isnt even out and people are saying all this great stuff because theyre dedicating all their time to make a Soul Within Mode with MORE CONTENT THAN ANYONE HAS EVER SEEN. Whoopie. Sounds like a blast.
Personalized character with all these neat features? Man, glad I can show it to the 2 other people who will play the game near me. I like my games with a lot of bonus features INCLUDING support for online play. The thing is, all it takes is one game to develop it, and then they can stick it into their other future games. Sorta the same modularity that XBL tries to accomplish. Gotta give it to them, theyre getting it out there, thoug the results could be a bit better.

Ive only seen shitty xbl games compared to what I get on kaillera, some of the time.
But thats only my experience, and it differs for everyone. All I can say in my experience that without online play, I would have never learned to play 2d fighting games or ever gotten as good as I have in the games I enjoy playing. If you had a bad experience, Im sorry but youre not going to ruin it for the rest of us by bitching about it. Adapting to the occasional spike is less difficult than adjusting to a broken stick, lack of ergonomical placements, horrible BO, lack of games, or lack of any challengers that occur so frequently at arcades.

Are you narrow-minded or what? I thought I even spelled it out for you by saying that there’s a lot of people who don’t live near an arcade. You can step up your game online by playing other good players. I’ve played literally thousands of games and have had minimal lag that has given me more experience in games like CvS2 that I wouldn’t have had the chance to get, aside from sporadic trips to an arcade 400 miles away from me.

Sure, most of online play isn’t taken serious - especially from tourney players who play for prizes and high amount of money matches. That’s not to say that you can’t learn something new and step up your game online. That, compiled with watching high-level matches is more than enough to help a person’s game out and put it in action.

Now, should I bring out the crayons now? I could probably draw you a cute picture if you still don’t get it or are unclear on anything.

Playing against friends is fine and dandy, but it just amounts to casual play and nothing more. If by “arcade in the house” you mean hold a tournament, that’s not on my agenda. Having a bunch of unfamiliar people over means two things:
1)Lots of good comp.
2)Disrespect of my home.
I’ve seen #2 happen way too many times to people that throw console tourneys to make #1 worth the effort. Online play is bad but it’s an alternative that suits my schedule better. I agree with you that it’s not the real thing and inasmuch hurts your game but I’m at the point where I just want to play another person every so often and I get low/no lag with most ppl on my f-list(I don’t play DoA so I don’t pay attention to how bad the OL play is). I don’t care if a game includes an online mode or not but I will utilize it if it’s there.

Online fighting should be JUST for fun play (specialy for slow connections), nothing can beat the real time play like tournaments, no matter how big or small a tournament can be: as long its on the real thing (console/arcade) its all it matters.

This is why I’m having what the fuck moments right now … .SNKGuitarist just tried to rip me when I said the same exact thing.

And sorry to piss on your parade Lazydel but actually I’ve never played online Third Strike, so stop jumping to silly conclusions you made up in your head. I’m too humble to actually think I’m better then people I’ve never even played  . I was mostly talking about the 3d fighters, which seem to suffer a little more. So your Third Strike theory is NULL and VOID kind sirrr!!!

And I’m going to go ahead and assume all broadband isnt the same which is again . .ridiculous  since some cable connections work fine and other cable suck. . same for dsl.

LOL @ MA, he’s the one who wouldn’t accept fatherbrain’s online challenge, or any other online challenge!

graffiti, I know what you mean. I am unable to connect my consoles online so I can’t play online so I’d rather see extras packed in, but that’s not how it’s gonna go these days. People expect online play so I guess it’s just something we have to live with.

wait, so you’ve never played on online fighter, but make a thread about what a bad idea it is?

You, graffiti, posess thinking power comparable to a sort of superbeing.

I suggest you read the thread once more, hotshot.

Ok troll, point made, nothing to see here folks. Move along.
