The thing is, here in reality, we know that Capcom(the reason most of us are here) is either putting in online or not, its not having any relevance on the rest of the game. And those games you listed as having bugs in the console version that werent in the arcade(as was asked) Neither of those were released in arcades.
No it most certainly hasnt taken away from ANY fighter released with online play, disputing that is moronic, maybe in theory IT COULD, but it never has.
EDIT: Id rather play a human with lag and etc. than play the AI. I still have training mode for practicing execution, no reason not to have it. You havent listed one yet, and you never will either.
And also, you were the one calling everyone stupid and etc in the first place, thus YOUR powers of wit(lack thereof) are brought in to question.
I’d rather suffer occasional lag then drive 90 minutes to 2 hours to get to an arcade near me. Cause there are none. It’s not practical to devote that much of what little free time I have just to play under optimal conditions. And at least my stick works. Nothing like making a road trip to a real arcade only to get stuck on the side where you can’t block low or do a mid punch. Yeah, that’s “real SF.” Stop the hate, and quit ranting while you’re at it.
I didnt call “everybody” anything. Only the ones who fit the mold. Had you felt I was talking to someone else and not yourself you might not have been so defensive.
And it’s literally nothing to argue over. . the game can be improved tenfold if you take online out of the equation.
Like. . seriously. . people are arguring that FACT. And the producer of Soul Calibur III already stated that despite no online mode they are using that time to pack more goodness into the console version.
pack more goodness = more 1p modes that scrubs can play and pretend they’re in an RPG
Seriously the only thing online would take away is useless modes that competitive players dont do anyway. SCII didnt use online, did they do anything to make the game NOT suck? Obviously not, they used that time to put in a mode to unlock shit and console only characters, wow. Thank god we didnt have online play
Key word . .occasional. I know lag is quite frequent in DOA.
And everybody knows that if you dont live in a fairly big city the arcade scene is quite near dead. So thats not a reason to cry for online, get some friends and play with them. Have an arcade in your house.
Nobody is ranting. Online play is worse than bad.
I have more fun playing Devil Within than I do with third strike online.
i play online because the 3s scene in philly is pretty close to non-existent, but i mean i don’t get lag in every game and shit i actually play good players online, could give a fuck less about my record because of lag at bad moments, rankings mean shit, and i’m on a fucking xbox controller S wtf did i expect to happen. but i’m rather for online with some lag because the best featrue to me on fighting games has always been versus mode and i’m not to sure what make a console version better than the arcade because most people want an arcade perfect console version. in the case of sf:ac though i would prefer alpha 3 over online any day.

edit: i do get pissed when people drop me because it’s just so pussy like…at least finish the match than quit. it’s not about the record either because i get pissed when i’m losing and someone drops me. but that’s the only things aside from losing because lag showed my wake-up over-head and it’s parried by chun and i see that medium kick pop out then…
Sometimes the lag is even fun. I had this one match that I got to play in slow motion and watch the pretty animation frames one by one and try to react to future moves in advance.
But, oh man, if they hadn’t added online to the X-box version it’d be so much better, like the PS2 version. I suggest you get that one. It doesn’t have online ruining it. Much better.
Some people must have some really bad broadband services. I almost never experience lag online, and when I do, its minimal. Only like 3 games of SF3 out of the thousands I’ve played over XBL had to be stopped because of out of control lag.
Truly, any fighting game that doesn’t have online play is a waste. Arcades are dead, and the ones that are alive and kicking charge a whopping $0.50-$1 per play (Gameworks!). Being able to play over XBL as much as you want allows for far more experimentation, and makes for a much more richer and stronger fighting game community.
Tekken 5, SCIII, and Virtua Fighter Evo with no online is a waste of software.
Look how much the 3s and CvS2 communities expanded thanks to XBL. CFJ and KOF are on the way, and those communities will expand as well, bringing in new blood to the fighting game community.
Anyone else find this guy extremely annoying? Tons of people wanted online play for AC, and that’s why they bought the xbox version. You think they’ll stop making online games just because one guy hates the word xbox live in the menu?
I prefer that they at least attempt an online mode in most new games, because it helps them test out things so it’ll be better for future games. You have to start somewhere.
Howsomever, I also like extra ‘gay ass RPG-like 1p scrub’ modes, because they enhance replay value and give you something to do when you don’t have people around. If they have to sacrifice development time that could’ve gone somewhere else in order to put in a barely-playable online component, I’d prefer that they not do it. But if it’s just a matter of releasing a few months later, fuck it. Put it out.
Of course, I live in Los Angeles. We’ve got arcades all over.
What in the fuck do I know you personally? Thought so.
:encore: I doesnt even bother me anymore, I think online fighters are wack. Rankings do matter, when you want to play people and they refuse to go in a round against someone “below them” and then all the rankings become a big joke anyway because the real wins shouldnt count at all if there is lag in a match. :encore:
But whatever . .I’m “hardkore” because a few skipped frames never hurt anybody and I’m making a big deal out of laggy online play.
EDIT: And you’re a moron. Nobody said anything about hating xbox live you big dummy. If only the fighters could play as good as the other genres.
These people are scrubs. Do you like playing scrubs?
edit: nobody cares if you hate online play. if you just said you hated online play, i bet most people would’ve just said “yeah, ok, i disagree but whatever.” You said that online play sucks and that a game with online play is WORSE than the exact same game without online play, so devs shouldnt even bother including online play. there’s a huge fucking difference.
Because I dont have it myself means I’m not allowed to like it. </sarcasm>
You’re too casual to see how bad lag affects matches in online. But like I said it makes me no difference anymore because you’re fighting for nothing and I was fighting for real fighting game fans. And that just did a 180 and kicked me in the ass.
You would think that by playing 2d fighters online every single frame would count. But no … take my karma and barrage me with your tasteful insults.
a) many people attest to being able to play online with minimal lag problems
b) many others attest to being able to play with lag without letting it bother them, because they don’t take online seriously
c) your logic of “i don’t like it so nobody else should be able to have it either” is childish and irrational
d) your experience with online play is evidently too limited for you to draw a reasonable conclusion on it. even if you played it more, if you got that bad lag anyway it’s probably just because your connection sucks and for no other reason.
There are people who will buy the game regardless of if it has an online feature or not. However, there are also those that won’t buy a game because online isnt included. Putting it in there is a + to business.
You are a dumbass who has no clue on how business works.
What many people? The 10 or so people with a high speed connection in this thread? Good for them but less that half the people online are using high speed connections.
Like seriously, I’m nowhere near as “serious” as I should be. I get owned just about everytime I read strats at Tekkenzaibatsu and Soulcalibur.com
I’m so casual it’s ridiculous. But lag still bothers me, as minimal as it is it shouldnt be there at all. Nobody agrees with that so I’ve officially lost my mind.
come on dude, I said nothing like that. What I said was, “if its going to be half assed, dont put it in there at all.” And to me lag is half assing it.
True I dont play much online, but thats by choice. It rubs me the wrong way. And it’s not my connection that sucks, its my buddys college dorm room connection that sucks.
Once again I’m suprised how many pro-online people there are. :xeye:
And you faithfully follow me around everywhere I go to apparently tell me how stupid I am which says a lot about you.
Nobody said business was moral. Shit I’d prey off of people who only bought online too. Because they could care less about frame rates.
bah, whatever. you seem to have chilled out now so i’m not really into arguing with you
edit: but still, you did say that a game with online is worse than the same game without online…if you meant because it takes away from dev time for other stuff then okay (Even though as i said i doubt that actually happens much), that just depends on whether you want online or the other stuff, but otherwise it’s still a wtf
