Sumary = Starcraft is teh shit! You must play it and get good at strategy. Too Good:tup:
Once I see a guy speak in “all chat” I pretty much do the /ignore thing on him because it won’t be long until he busts out the n word eleventy billion times even though he has no way of knowing the person he’s talking to is in fact, black… oh wait they use the “he’s the brown colored player, so that means he’s one!1!” excuse all the time, yeesh. I dunno why that game seems to have the most racism from all the games I’ve played heh. Even gun toting hicks on Counter Crap are more civil!
But see, the thing about the 80+ counter matchups is just like, you learn every single hero, you learn every single situation since the map is ALWAYS EXACLTY THE SAME, so each strategy is copied off one another, but just varies a bit depending on your hero.
I totally agree. Starcraft is about outdoing your opponent, one way or the other, either by outplaying them with micro and macro, or just using ways of psyching them out to think of one thing, but then you going another.
I think a great player that shows this is NaDa. He’s not called the “Genius Terran” for nothing. His micro and macro skills are pretty insane, but ofcourse, BoxeR in his prime owned everybody, so imo, I think watching old BoxeR matches, back 2003-2005, he just owned and created strategies that everyone still uses today.
Not to mention, even though BoxeR is in the military, he still comes up with ways to impress me.
With a recent match that took place about 2 weeks ago, his opponent had not scouted him out yet, so he goes out to another base, builds a barrack for a block and puts a Marine there to fake out his opponent and his opponent thinks he’s actual there and tries to go in, but then finds out he’s not even there.
I mean, that right there just goes to show you that BoxeR is just on another level.
Seriously, if only pro gamers were allowed to have sex with their fans, BoxeR would be oversexed…I mean, c’mon, he has a fan club of over 500,000? And 90% of those fans are girls? Jeez…
lol, I hate it when I play CS or something and a random guy is like “WTF WAS THAT YOU NOOB, MAGNETIX, YOU STUPID n word here, GOD, I HATE YOU n word here, GO BACK TO AFRICA”, lol, I just reply and be like “wtf…i’m Asian, man”…then everything is ok after that…or until they bust out the whole “Chink” Jap" “Gook”, at that point it’s all about the mute.
wait u played a game for 5 min and judged it as stupid based on that? wow.
i play both ladder and dota. They are both good. I enjoy dota more.
Nah, it was more like, people talked about it on the forums as if it was like a match between Grubby and Moon or something, they disected it even though there’s nothing that needed to be disected, really. I usually like UMS games, like back in Starcraft, the old mass games and the like, and also the Foot Men Wars and whatnot, but DoTA, imo, is just boring. After playing ladder for a long time, I can’t ever keep my hand steady on just 1 unit, so in the end, it’s just way boring for me to play.
Then again, I stopped playing Warcraft 3 to pick up Starcraft again, so I haven’t really touched WC3 in about 2 months
but you live in the philippines now right? isnt dota very popular in your location? bohol right?
ROFL. Sadly, it is. It annoys the living shit out of me.
When we had our internet cafe open, we’d be full on people just specifically playing DoTA. I mean, it’s great for the business, but they’d come in day in, day out, everyday of the week except for sunday to play DoTA…blah.
I have tried to talk to people and try to get them to play ladder or even 1vs1 with them seriously, but a lot of them aren’t that great because they’ll play maybe, one or two games on ladder, then go off and play DoTA for 10 hours, so really, i’m stuck on the Kalimdor (Asian) server playing a bunch of Koreans, which is actually fine, but it gets annoying as hell because they start saying things like…
??? ???..
!!! !!!
or something like that, iono.
I agree with ImperialSport. Stacraft is much more than rock-paper-scissors, which makes is one of the reasons why people stil play it hardcore today. It’s a ton of strategy and countering, which makes it insane when watching top players duke it out. Mmm. I wonder what the Pimpest Plays will be like for Starcraft 2…
lol, I see the Mothership being in a lot of the pimpest plays, like you get a bunch of Phase Prisms and you sneak up on a Terrans base and have the mothership come in, do the Planet Cracker on SCVs to mess up the mining then phase prism back…damn, that’s IMBA!!! IMBAAAAAAAA
So here are the reasons you’re hating on DOTA:
A.) You’ve heard about it on the forums
B.) You’ve heard people talk about it
C.) It’s taking away players from ladder
But… you’ve only actually played it for five minutes. Yeah, you’re a fucking idiot.
DOTA definitely has very limited micro, it’s confined to last hitting when laning, and trying to outfarm/outdeny your opponent, and to some extent, team battles. The real fun is working together as a team to outwit your opponents. It’s like micro, except everyone is controlling a different character… you have to time spell chains, you have to learn what counters what, when’s the right time to enter a battle, how to run ganks, how to set up ambushes… it’s a game based around communicating with your team. Almost always, the more co-ordinated team wins.
That’s wassup. From what I’ve read so far, it seems like toss is receiving a major facelift compared to everyonen else. I can’t wait to see the new toss strategy. :lovin:
lol, y’know, i’d love to argue with you about DoTA, but really, I already know it’s not going to get anywhere, so i’ll just say this…
Play DoTA if you want to be a scrub all your WC3 life.
Play Ladder if you want to get anywhere in WC3.
and lol, 5 minutes was how long it took for me to find out that the hype on DoTA is about as great as someone taking a fat shit on my face…which isn’t great at all.
What I find hilarious is the fact that you say “team game”…sure, DoTA is a team game, but each game pretty much differs no other than the game before it, and the other 50,000 games before it. Each game looks exactly different. I’ve seen DoTA “pros” on YouTube, and I wonder how the hell any of that is even great.
Woooo, your team can chain a bunch of spells…waves hands in the air like he just doesn’t care
Watching DoTA replays = Boring.
Watching Moon, ToD, Sky, sometimes Grubby, Just.Diesel, and maybe even Creopholus replays = Exciting, helpful, full of SKILL, will actually learn something and will actually do you some good.
Sheesh, fucking idiot I am!
Edit - Oh, and lol, here, you might want to use this -
http://www.wcreplays.com/articles.php?get=392
You might need that for when you run out of uber strats for DoTA.
rofl, give me a break.
Yeah right, man, they better put a cooldown on those damn phase prisms…Fools just can’t be warping in and out…that’d be hella messed up.
Just because ur playing ladder dont mean ur controlling bunch of units all the time. There were alot of teching strategies that involved playing defensively w/ hero.
Really, if u played dota for more than 5 min, you would have found that theres alot of actions to do other than controlling one hero on auto attack and spamming spells. Few heros I can name on top of my head that has summons to micro
Beastmaster
Chen
Sylla
etc…
In ladder, you need to be on the move at all times, unless you’re rebuilding yourself after getting attacked. If you haven’t noticed, Beastmaster is a widely used hero in ladder, and trust me, I do enough microing on my Quillbeasts, but moreso on my Hawk…then again, to be honest, it’s not like you need to micro Quillbeasts that much…they give out…what? 12-25 exp? I forgot, but I know it’s a small amount, not worth enough to salvage since you really have an infinite amount of them if you just carry Clarity pots.
All my WC3 life? MY WC3 LIFE? Do you think I even give HALF a shit about wc3, much less my “WC3 life”. I’ve played ladder plenty, and I found it boring. But guess what, I actually tried it before trying to form an opinion about it. I bought WC3 because my friends were playing DOTA at the time, and I found it fun. I couldn’t care less about whether i’m scrub at ladder or not.
No shit every game looks exactly the same. It’s because you have no idea what’s going on… because you don’t play it.
Holy fuck, “WC3 life”.
ur confusing ladder with dota. beastmaster is quite different from ladder and dota. and most of those heroes mentioned go the necro book route.
oh and even in ladder, 12-25exp is still something. If you see pro level matches they will try to last hit their summons if they can.
and in dota ppl dont just sit around. if u do you’re doing something wrong. you should be harassing w/ nukes, last hit and deny while trying to maintain lane control.
Also, that link you provided is absolute fucking garbage. It’s outdated as hell, and is sooo scrubby.
“The third and final totally ineffective item is the Ancient Tango of Essifation. I’m sure this item could have gone without saying but it served no purpose outside of eating down Rooftrellen’s Eyes of the Forest. They don’t provide enough health regeneration to keep you in your lane.”
that article u quoted is very generalized information quite incorrect and horribly outdated.
i mean tango, an item to avoid? c’mon!
canadian beat me to it. lol.
also while reading the article on how dota lacks micro, i was thinking… dota does have micro in a way that everything is more important to nail on time and the window to perform is shorter because battles are often quicker and consquence for being slightly late is greater. Avoiding disables, blinking to dodge, setting AoEs etc.
consequences of those actions are greater.
Actually, when I mean “WC3 ‘life’”, I meant as to how long you’ve been playing the game, or how long you will be playing the game, not as a direct…ah nevermind.
It depends on the summon and the situation. If it’s the Archmages Water Elemental, then that’s obviously much easier because Water Elemental is a great source of exp, then not to mention you will get shitted on if AM goes for a 3 Water Elemental harass.
In Orc vs NE matches, NE will usually go Superman, BM, Tinker and mass dots, depending on the map, but let’s just say that NE is going mass dots while Orc is going Grunt/Raider/SW. Obviously, you’re not going to aim for the Quillbeasts because any NE would go directly for burrows since magic = 200% on burrows, so your option is to kill DoTs, then go for Hawk, then the heroes, then if Quillbeasts are still alive, you pick them off last…all while hopelessly trying to repair your burrow with 6-8 peons…but we all know burrows go down no matter what, anyways
I will only go for Quillbeasts first if they’re level 2, and in worst cases, level 3, because Bloodlust on a fast attacking unit is already a bitch in itself, then not to mention you got DoTs Faerie firing on you which is another factor you have to put in, which brings me to another thing, and that is to harass so that they can’t exp properly while you’re exp’ing with your own units - I.e 2-3 Grunts creeping low level creeps while BladeMaster harrasses opponent, and ofcourse, if you harass good enough, Beastmaster won’t be able to get to level 3 to get a level 2 Quillbeast.
I’m not hating on DoTA…ok, maybe a little… I don’t really care if you play, i’m just saying, there’s people that say DoTA actually requires a good amount of skill which isn’t true imo.
Edit - as far as that article goes, I had that link in my favorites for a few months now. I got it off another forum when another member was joking around and created a thread saying “If you want to be a noob, here’s your guide” and posted that link.
