It’s friday, that’s why nobody is there. I’m going tomorrow/sunday so I’ll post up some pics from there. I’m guessing it will be way more crowded. Although I do think less koreans = less people wanting to go out to watch.
I’m going to go out on a limb and say people aren’t there because SC2 is losing its casual gamer audience… If I were to point a finger as to why this is, it would be aimed at Blizzard. They think that people will wait patiently for an expansion to a game that looks dated when there are other quality games out there. They need to pick their act up.
I disagree… MLG only keeps getting bigger for every event. NASL just isn’t as good of a tournament. (Not many matches, one match at a time, single elim, underwhelming map pool, Gretorp, etc…)
I have to side with Nature on that one. I also don’t agree that there are many other quality games out there to compare with SC2. By this I mean SC2’s biggest RTS competition is Broodwar or maybe Dawn of War? lol
how many more posts until the next page? tired of seeing QQ as the first post…
what’s the best way for zerg to deal with 4gate?
do i lose if i simply fail to scout the pylon? is that really the point of no return?
Roach / lings or spine / lings. You always want to scout for proxy pylons, but if you don’t see an expo that’s the tell to know something is up. The longer you don’t see a nexus, the more you have to aggressively scout, maybe even sending an overlord into the main. I will say though I hardly ever see 4 gates anymore.
4 gate has been nerfed so hard, there’s no reason you should be losing to it. You just need to invest in spinecrawlers, and stop missing your injects. Or if you want to make roaches, get roaches and not spinecrawlers
I’m not saying that SC2 is a bad game because I played it hard for a full year straight. There aren’t many games that I play for that long lately. But there are good titles that have been released since then to pull folks away from playing SC2 such as Battlefield 3, Modern Warfare 3, KOF 13, SSFIVAE, Skyrim. After I get tired of those games I may pick SC2 backup hardcore, but its going to be difficult. SC2 stresses me out, and when I muff a build order I know I’m at a disadvantage. Playing BF3 is stress free tbh. Now, if there was a solid date for HOTS and the Protoss expansion, I’d be more keen to playing but things are just so random with Blizzard.
I’m tired of waiting…
The rumble begins in a few short hours and we just broke $1,000! w00t!
Here’s the stream. Bookmark it now!
Well there is no reason for an RTS buff to drop SC2 for Skyrim is my point lol, I mean I understand that they may want to play other games but if they want to play an RTS…
As for the 4gate… watch me! I have some new creative 4 gates stuff involving the warp prism and nexus cancels don’t think I am not trying to get 6 min wins. I realize it isn’t a true 4 gate since I get a robo, but its a variation in my book.
The donations are now past $1,300. Wow!
Yo, I haven’t played this game in a minute, is Protoss still “learn to FF or lose”?
Yeah pretty much, our gateway units are weak because otherwise with good FF we’d completely dominate
See, that’s what I don’t understand about balance. Protoss shit costs more, but they’re… weaker? All because FF is so good. Seems so one dimensional.
And stargate units are still balls, right?
What do I care, I just DT drop/warp-in anyways hahah. My only strat and it’s a gimmick.
Played a lot of 2v2, looking to merge into solo finally. Anyone want to practice and help me out? zerg player.
I always want to play more, but it’s hard to find time. Sadly I don’t jump in without agreeing to matches outside of the game first, so if you can try to look me up on Steam or something and bug me to play.
Stargates are… interesting. Lately, stargates aren’t good for winning the game, but they’re super important versus zerg in early game before Mutas are out. They protect you from roaches, let you clear the map, deny overlords, and are great at scouting. What they’re not good at is actually winning fights. Typically you’ll see protoss to forge fast expand, into 1 gate stargate. Get 1 void ray and 4-5 phoenix, and control the game from there until Mutas come out. It’s the MC strat.
Anything more than that starts to get into all-in territory, and since it’s so easy to shut down stargate play, that all in is really risky.
Right now it’s all about Chargelot/Archon/Colossus armies against T, and Blink Stalker/Templar/Colossus armies against Z as the ideal late game composition. But there is some good PvZ strats that can win you the game without being all in which is nice
A couple of things that I dislike about this game:
- Not being able to off-race at a lower league. If I mostly play as Protoss and at a Platinum level, my zerg/terran will not be at that level.
- Not being able to view a replay as a party. Is it that difficult?
I dunno I like blink stalker openings against terran right now personally. If this game wants me to play it more (which I am sure they don’t care since they have my money lock in anyway) they just need to add full clan support so I don’t feel like I am playing by myself all the time.
you have to throw A-Moving out the window if you want to play at higher levels with toss. It’s not that there units are weak, you just have to think outside the box with the unit compositions. Don’t get go for the same deathball against every race it won’t work. I think the reason why I can’t toss at all is the fact that the strategies are a bit strict. I play Z and they have a little more variety in openings but, nothing compared to T. This game is well balanced, it’s just stylistically not in my taste to play toss.
