StarCraft II Matchmaking Thread

I wonder how Toss will do in the current Gom League November.

Spoiler

I’ve only watched day 1, but MC advanced : )

If you think recall will stay in the game you are crazy. It allows the protoss to do whatever they want late game because for 70 energy they can erase any mistake.

It’s 100 energy I believe, and I still feel it’s less powerful than Mules. It’s staying, especially since we lose the mothership. All it does is let us get some units out of a bad situation. The radius won’t be as large as Mothership, but Recall is going to be essential to making protoss viable, because as it is if you get caught out of position once, without your whole army in a large ball, you lose.

It may get a tech requirement, but even then I’m not sure it’s necessary

Any of you still playing this game? Its been kind of stale in this thread lately and just curious what you guys are playing if you have moved on. I’m not playing as much because I’ve had to travel a lot lately for work and personal time. I would go a whole week without playing and come back rusty as hell. As a result, I’m not in the mood to play as much because the game is so focused on Build Orders, especially for Protoss!!!

I don’t play because it takes too much time. I can’t just pop in and get a game, and I rarely have a solid block of time I can dedicate to actually playing. That and Iren got Carpel Tunnel so he can’t play as much, and 80% of the games I played were versus him. I still love watching though, watch GSL and MLG and I’m going to the NASL season 2 finals next weekend as well!

If you’re in Silver, Gold or Platinum. Send me a Private Message so we can do some games together in a 2 vs 2 or 3 vs 3. I do 1 vs 1 time to time. But, I love playing with another partner just to fuck around. Also, have Skype! Makes it easier to interact than typing.

Send me your game name along with your code.

Same here pimp. I do feel as if Blizzard is dragging their ass with releasing the expansions though. It’s been well over a year and not even a release date for HOTS. If anything, I’m a little disappointed in Blizzard as a company. They think they can shove all kinds of garbage down our throats.

I’ve been a little more relaxed since I slowed down playing SC2. My sleep schedule is a little improved, though I have been playing BF3 lately. I’m already getting tired of that game.

Broke, check the first page for a list. Most people there hardly play anymore. Natureboy is probably the best here on SRK as he consistently ranks in top 5 masters of his divisions.

Well considering they’re busy with D3, I can cut them some slack for being slow on the expansions : )

well i haven’t played in over half a year so to build epeen confidence i threw all my placement matches so i could troll the bronze league. aside from a few tragic losses to cannon rushes i got 10 game winning streaks. i also got better at holding off cannon rushes lulz. then i played this bronze guy who was doing multi pronged drops and raping me with terran it was my worst nightmare i was like WTF the game went on for 40 min. turns out he was a master toss offracing as terran. smurf vs smurf good times. turns out there are quite a few smurfs out there lurking the lower leagues. scary stuff!

lulz. so i managed to promote myself into gold league, now gonna try and get back into platinum, and someday get back into diamond, which i was so ignominiously demoted out of exactly a year ago.

Hey everyone!

Long time SRK member (mostly lurk, rarely post) since back in 2000?!

My SC2 ID info is:

I am also working with some guys in the Penny Arcade forums on a charity event called Rumble in the Bronze. You may have have heard about it if you listen to State of the Game. Pro gamer/caster iNcontrol is going to be commentating (abusing) our bronze level players for your viewing entertainment. I’ve included information about the event below (spoilered for FRIGGIN’ HUGE):

That’s right ladies and gentlemen, we’re jumping in the time-traveling Hellorean and to take you back to the Bronze League! The fine folks of the Penny-Arcade forums have gathered together again to bring to you all:

The Rumble in the Bronze: Throwdown in Tinseltown!

Hey everyone! Do you like Starcraft 2? Do you like being entertained? Do you like helping out sick children? Well then, I’ve got exactly what you need. Welcome to the second showing of The Rumble in the Bronze!

What the heck is the RitB? Basically, a bunch of talented guys from the Penny Arcade forums and I decided on a whim to hold a charity event with the proceeds going to the Penny Arcade Child’s Play charity. We somehow got a professional announcer and player, Geoff “iNcontrol” Robinson, to cast the event. The hook was that all the players in the event would be bronze league level. For those of you who don’t know, the Bronze League is the lowest level of Starcraft players.

The results were amazing! We ended up having several thousand people watch the stream and generated over $3,000. This year we are doing it again and got Geoff to cast once again. People really loved watching bad players go at it with Geoff making jokes at their expense. Personally I think we can reach $5,000 if everyone gets out there and really helps spread the word.

The event takes place on December 10th, 2011 at 6:00 EST. The stream will have an hour long pre-show starting at 5:00 EST. An encore presentation will probably occur as long as the fans are still wanting more.

Commentary will once again provided by Geoff “iNcontrol” Robinson and the PA forums very own Shawn “Seguer” Murphy. All proceeds from the event will go to Child’s Play charity. More details about match types, players, streams, and other surprises to come.

Our first mention on Inside the Game (at the 1:44:00 or so mark).

Our first mention on State of the Game (at the 2:20:00 mark).

Our event just got highlighted on arcticnova.org. Read the article here.

Did you miss out on last year’s event? No problem, here are some links to the VODs: Part One, Part Two. Even better, you can check out our old promotional videos to give you a good idea of what to expect (spoilered for lots):

So please join us in making fun of players who are going to risk shame and ridicule for donations. If you enjoy what you see, please donate. It’s for a great cause after all. I mean, who wouldn’t want sick children to enjoy video games? If you can’t afford to pitch in, please pass along the event via word of mouth, other forums, facebook, twitter, or whatever way you can.

For information about Child’s Play, you can visit the official site or watch this video showing some behind-the-scenes stuff.

Hope to see you guys there and spread the word if you don’t mind.

rumble in the bronze was pure hilarity and its a good cause

i’m so happy they’re doing a second one

wait, so if you are not bronze i.e. gold/platinum you can’t participate?

Unfortunately so. This event is focused on mocking bad players playing bad. Everyone involved knows it too, so there won’t be any hard feelings. We haven’t ruled out stream interactions though, maybe based on donations or raffles or something like that in the “after-show”.

I don’t even know how it’s possible to be bad enough to be in bronze, and still play the game enough to want to compete, but they do provide awesome fun : )

Also, I’m going to be at NASL this weekend… woot

I’m so jealous. NASL finals last year was great. Nobody plays anything fun near Savannah (although I guess I could go to Atlanta if I wasn’t so broke).

Here’s our newest promo trailer for Rumble in the Bronze. Enjoy!

is anyone at nasl? i’m watching the stream and the audience looks pretty small, and when they ask the crowd to cheer you can hear the echoes of the empty hall =/

Ya man it is depressing how small the NASL audience is but they didn’t attract near as many koreans I think only Hero I don’t count Hwang sin or w/e? Also on a personal note i can’t stand the commentating of Gretorp and Orb

damn NASL is like a tomb. i’m guessing its still friday at 6 PM so that’s why its dead; perhaps it will be better on the weekend?

the games are pretty entertaining though. hope NASL survives for season 3

Ive been playing Sotis for so long I lost all of my skills with the main game lol.

Gotta get back into that ladder grind.
