StarCraft II Matchmaking Thread

Better than I expected, but I remember how rough GSL started so I’m impressed they did it so well. Still just doesn’t have the same epicness of the GSL though, but Im sure the top 16 will

NASL was run very well. Transitioned into matches with very little down time. The lag was a little concerning, but that is going to happen with online tourneys.

They were already playing each other. nothings really changed except the recognition and now the top 200 is gonna be viewable on a rolling basis from in game etc

im so annoyed at all the people hating on MC for proxy gating

fucking stupid scrubs

they would have an aneurysm playing mvc2 or super turbo

all of the scrubby complaints probably stems from the fact that with starcraft now there are so many people who watch way more than they play (if they even play at all)

so theyre only concerned with getting long games to watch

look up these youtube channels.

Also I’ve been casting Quake and Counter strike for about 3 years now and I’m making the transition soon to SC2 casts.
search FallBackTVProd for frag videos I’ve made and FallBackTVesp0rts for soon to be SC2 casting.

It’s more to it than that. Koreans are known for cheesing, which is why all NA or Euros that went to Korea to play SC probably left or will leave soon. Cheesing in the finals of a lan is just looked down upon. Most SC2 lans are about having honor for your skill, not your ability to abuse game mechanics.

For anyone interested, NASL is live right now.

This really isn’t true. Only the noobs are the ones crying about “Korean cheese”. I doubt you will ever find any foreigner who left Korea because he was tired of getting cheesed. Almost every major starcraft finals bo7 format involves a cheese of some sort. If you never cheese, your opponent will never have a reason to keep you honest. MC just read what white-ra was going to do, and instead of playing standard and letting white-ra take a macro advantage, he punished him for his risk.

Uh ya I know most of those channels I was just answering someone who asked who was commenting for NASL. I have to agree with Nature here I have seen some solid builds out of the Koreans in all their tournaments. It just kills me how many pros do not check their bases. I mean its one thing to miss it while playing 10 ladder games in a row just chilling, but in a high stakes tourney you have to give it a check. 15K mistake by White ra and if he scouts it early he wins is the big thing.

I love the play by MC i love his aggression because that is usually how I like to play. Not sure if it is because of my aggressive style in BW and WC3, but I just love putting the game into my hands with solid early micro.

What a load.

Yeah, don’t think I’ll be catching the commentary from somebody who thinks cheesing in a high stakes tournament finals is dishonorable.

However, I’m pretty sure Idra left Korea because he couldn’t take the cheese anymore; of course to Idra, cheese is anything where theres not a NR15 minutes in place

i swear there are contingents of players out there who think that NR10-15 min is the “real” game.

And people that complain a lot about “cheese” are these people. i wonder sometimes how much they think through this stance. Like, people get that if no one “cheesed” everybody would just expo first right? Why wouldn’t you? Shit cracks me up to no end when i ladder, and people get mad and tell you you’re all-in’ing them, when they tried 2rax into a command center. OF COURSE I ATTACKED YOU YOU DOLT, YOU BUILD A CC AT 5 MINUNTES. It’s not “cheese” it’s called playing the fucking game.

I honestly think it is because most of them do not understand proper scouting. Since they don’t know what you are doing they believe the same for you. The fact that you hit them early must have meant it was “your game plan” from the start. Learning to adapt (or 4 gate) will get you a lot of wins.

I want to see Idra in the top 10 for Grand Masters. Also, i’m hoping that NASL will improve because so far i’m disappoint that Idra left GSL for NASL.

wtf is this crap i expect this on a starcraft forum not a fighting game forum. nasty you’re probably one of those guys who thinks throwing is cheap too.

cheap tactics have existed forever, they are are awesome, and only scrubs hate on them. HONOR? wtf is that crap. nobody looks down on it, and nobody cares about honor. all we care about is who is the better player.

White ra opened up same opening multiple times, and skipped first zealot, and didn’t scout the inside of his base, therefore he lost. THE END.

go play a NR 30 MIN FASTEST MAP POSSIBLE game

meanwhile i just started playing sc2 again, haven’t played in months, and i am completely terrible. they are matching me with golds. so far i’ve been doing ok. i just been 4 gating the protoss for the ez wins, so i can focus on playing long satisfying macro games vs T and Z.

play with me, fishjie

In the Grand Master League, that is comprised of the top 200 players on all servers? Or is it just NA server? Reason I ask is because I see no Korean names on the top 200 list.

Top 200 in each region.

Heres the Korean grandmasters league:

Korea 1v1 rankings

huk is 143 : )

I’ve been watching WAY too much streams of SC2. And Huk is back in Masters now  Korea is no joke when it comes to SC. Silly Silly question: I want a second account but not sure what’s the best way to go about doing it. Do I just buy the game and re-install?

just buy a second copy and register it to a new battle.net account, no need to reinstall the game at all. Just login with the new account instead of the old one

And I still see huk in Grandmasters, pretty sure you can’t drop out of Grandmasters once you’re in for the season.

I do find it silly NASL can’t get through one week of broadcasts without changing their schedule already, come off a little unprofessional IMO
