July doesnt suspect anything, expands speedling as normal. No lair, no evo chamber
Starts lair JUST as the DTs come out, he sees the DT blur and knows its coming, starts evo chamber, uses roaches to block ramp
3 DTs come in, wreck face in the natural, and then carves through the roaches on the ramp
overseers finally morph, spore crawlers up, DTs get out alive

MC builds up, july tries to take a third, but dts harass everywhere
MC goes 6 gate and just CRUSHES into july zerg, using forcefields to make every engagement rape

July GGS before his natural dies and before MC can BM him

MC takes game 4, now up 3-1, one more to win

game 5

Standard game, forge expand into 6 gate, pressures him. Gets some DTs to exploit no detection, uses forcefields and blink to decimate hydras off creep, july ggs before any attack is made because he knows he is crushed

the Kratos protoss, MC, defeats the god of war, July, by ripping his arms off and becoming the new god of war

um, that was fing painful to watch. I have serious problems playing against zerg, because I have no way to stop mutas. MC totally denies July from even getting to mutas with his powerful timing rushes and sentry parade. I’m not sure what July could have done, and it’s painful because faster hydras may have helped in this situation.

I’d like to see an interesting game mechanic where zerg has a unit that is actually faster OFF creep and slower while ON creep. This would be interesting for hydras.

I would also be kinda piss if protoss get’s a huge nerf from the outcome of this game and terran remains the same…

I think July would have done better if he made 1 or 2 extra hatcheries that wernt expansions. Or maybe July droned too hard. I dont know.

But seriously, he build 0 robos all 5 games. Burrow move roaches would have been really useful; burrow in general too. Half your army cut off and about to die? Burrow everything until the force fields go away, then unburrow and fight fair

Banelings + burrow = dead sentries. You’ve seen banelings kill tons of marines right? Imagine a baneling bomb killing a clump of sentries. Pretty brutal.

MC managed to win each game without ever needing a colossus or HT, thats pretty pimp in my book

i think he built a Robo in game 3, but i’m not sure anything ever came out of it.

That would have been the game he lost then, haha, if he did. I don’t remember one, I remember forge fast expand into getting hydra dropped, going for colossus would have been pretty standard though

Also, the myth about super slow hydras off creep boggles me. Zealots and Hydras have the same speed (until they get the charge upgrade), and nobody ever complains how slow and useless they are!

July should’ve pulled a Jaedong and six pooled (instead of four in SC1) two games in a row.

Thats because zealots have FF’s behind them.

no one complains because zealots have that upgrade option. the same would be true if hydras had that option… nothing crazy as charge z’s but maybe off creep same speed as on creep upgrade.

Zealots are 100 min for 100 hp 50 shield with move upgrade available. They reliably serve as both a meat shield for your other units against lings, roaches, and other zealots, while allowing for a good attack unit once you have a twilight council up. Also, the entire protoss army is slower than the zerg army, so the move speed is less noticeable for them. They only have one marginally fast unit (stalker) and one actually fast unit (phoenix). Also considering that protoss likes to keep their army together it’s not too important for zealots to be much faster.

Hydras are 100 min 50 gas for 80 hp with only a range upgrade available. Because of cost/hps, you HAVE to put them behind other units, you can’t just go hydras. While their DPS is good, they get out dps’d by even stimmed marines, they move slower than un stimmed marines, and about the only thing you can use them for asides from sitting behind roaches is an emergency anti-air option when you discover your opponent has been hiding voids or some shit.

The really nasty thing to me about hydras is that for the tech requirement they get easily out classed by lots of units. They get countered by lings, marines, banes, roaches, hellions, tanks, thors, colossi…and maybe I’m forgetting something else. 4 of the 7 units I listed are cheaper than hydras by a damn sight, too. The only time I see hydras used effectively is versus heavy gateway pushes, it really seems to be their only use.

Well you left off how good hydra drops can be. I like hydras on close map positions allows them to pressure. Usually a hydra ling comp keeps me safe from aggressive protoss. as long as you baby those hydra and surround with lings they are pretty useful there. You are right though they need a little something. I don’t know if speed is fair though a fast hydra would be fucking deadly (just like stimed marines damn you terran!) if they did that might have to take away the range. I would say maybe like 1 extra natural armor or something.
