The boss toss is too good. What a killer. I hope White Ra can do well against him in the TSL.
Hydras do well vs Gateway Units, as well as versus Stargate Units. The only reason hydra don’t get used more is because the only viable P tech route left is Colossus, which eat hydras alive. The hydra itself isn’t too bad, it’s just countered by the colossus which is a staple of the matchup. If Z goes hydra and P doesn’t go Colossus, it’s pretty hard to win. Of course MC does it, but he’s pretty pimp anyhow.
And Z may not have an upgrade you can buy to increase speed on Hydras, but they have one that costs nothing but energy and time, Creep Tumors, and that actually benefits the ENTIRE zerg army. So hydras can get their speed boost that way. All I’m saying is that Hydras off creep, which people tout to be some hulking slow as molasses unit, move at EXACTLY the same speed as a zealot, which gets no flak for being slow. I think they’re just an undervalued unit that is going to develop a bit more for Z players in the future.
And as much as I like white-ra, he is going to get eaten alive. Lucky for him PvP seems to be the matchup where it’s the most random with its results, so he has a chance to usurp the god protoss himself.

problem with hydras is that once they start getting hit the dps falls dramatically as each one dies and then its gameover. this is why they arent even that viable vs pure gateway, because all it takes is one set of forcefields to cut the dps and kill half the group, meanwhile the P army just keeps getting stronger/more hp in relation as reinforcements from both sides arrive.
A simple analysis but really hydra is SUCH a shit unit, id be happy if they entirely redid it in every way right now.
As far as your argument of if the hydras are getting hit then the dps falls I would say that is working as intended. They do rape gateway units on creep they are more defensive atm so I think a little speed upgrade would help not too much though.

I saw that match too and I’m trying to figure out just what the fuck happened. MVP might not have had a good day, but even then, to see a guy hold off and beat MM w/ simply gate way units, in particular stalkers and sentries is insane.
Didn’t catch the match, so I’m stuck waiting for the VODs to go up on youtube, gah! >.<

I just can’t get into the whole SC2BW thing, because they’re not just coding in the old units and trying to balance them in the new engine, they’re reworking the game to add all the old interface limitations in that made the game a relic of the past (no auto mine, 12 units max selection, no multiple building selection). It’s like all these players spent the better part of the decade learning to do all these menial tasks and now want them back in the game for no reason other than they already are used to doing them. It’s like taking 10 giant steps backwards, it just really is something I can’t get behind
Same reason people still play GG and ST/3rd strike lol. I agree with you though I would rather just play SC2 even though I might be better at BW.
Sort of, I mean I guess if Capcom had the modding tools we’d see people remaking ST in SSF4 as well, but to me it’d be like taking SSF4 and adding 2 pressure sensitive buttons and saying “Hey, it takes skill to do the right attack based on how hard you hit it; now any scrub can do a c.mk”
This is why real street fighters play SF1.
