Because it being Lukes arm makes the ST and the saga as a whole come full circle. It’s fan service-y enough to feel like it’s honoring Luke while also being just enough of a twist that most normies that casually like SW will be into. It’ll be the prefect way to explain why Rey is so good with the force without having to try and make up for not explaining it with some training montage to appease the hardcore crowd. I don’t really like it since it’s a cop out on her power level but it’s solid and doesn’t need allot of work to seem plausible in the SW universe.
Unless someone else has a better way to explain why Rey can be so powerful…?
Also this wouldn’t completely erase her Mary Sue status since she’d still be a linguist and a top tier mechanic and even can swim really well despite growing up her whole life on a desert planet.

I would say this is hyperbole. TLJ left us with nothing to go off of so how many theories can we really extrapolate from that movies ending? We don’t know what Kylos ambition or goals are outside of being bad for the sake of being bad.

I’ve never said that TROSW wold flop. I’ve said it would under perform but I never said flop. Again “it’ makes allot of money” is a terrible way to hand wave away critic. Allot of stuff that’s mediocre and tows the line makes money but that doesn’t mean it’s quality.

I like EP1 minus Jar Jar. EP2 is okay but too much CGI and EP3 was pretty nice but even back when it came out, I thought the suspense was kinda weak because you knew Yoda wasn’t gonna die (also RIP my nigga Mace Windu). I did love that final fight scene but I know allot of people thought it was dumb.
I like the OT however I don’t have hardened nostalgia for it since it was before my time. I though TFA was pretty sweet on first watch however I think it gets weaker the more you watch it especially in conjunction with it’s follow up. I really really liked Rouge One. And despite my pants shitting hate for TLJ, I thought Solo was fun when it was fun. It was a fine film and I’m not mad my friend asked me to see it with him despite saying no at first.
I didn’t watch Clone Wars or Rebels because no cable. I didn’t touch anything in the EU because I’m not a hardcore SW fan. I only played the Pod Racer game on N64 and I remember liking it as a kid.
So of all the Star Wars content that I’ve consumed I think most of it is pretty fine. Not perfect by any means but fine. Duel of Fates is my favorite Star Wars melody and that scene is one of my favorites in movie history.
So now that you know my background can you still claim that have a hate boner for all things SW? I refuse to read the nu-canon though because allot of it tries to fix Rians mistakes and from what I’ve seen other more passionate Star Wars fans talk about (ThorSkywalker) none of it sounds compelling.
I just like good story telling and consistent world building. I’m not completely averse to asspulls in my escapism as long as it feels earned:

You confuse my dislike of the ST’s aimless direction as me hating everything. I’m not a fucking simp. I can see when shit is wonky as fuck. It’s why I stopped reading Bleach. It’s why I stopped reading Naurto. If this makes me an angry fanboy/Incel/Man baby/Troll/Russian Bot/Misogynist to you then…oh well I guess…

It makes money because of brand recognition. It’s not just anything it’s SW. Of course it’s gonna make money.

If you mindlessly hate something just to hate it, it comes off as obnoxious. However SW has enough content from different eras that at this point not having an opinion on SW would be weirder than being a angry fanboy.
The ST is like I stated before, aimless. It sought to please everyone via brand recognition instead plotting a strong story for a new generation. The PT gets allot of hate. Some unwarranted and some deserved. But one thing you can’t say is that it was aimless. It was Lucas’s vision through and through and he got to tell his story. Sure there are plot holes and bullshit logic leaps however Anakins rise and fall was consistent with his character. Also I know people hated it but SW needs politics. You can’t create a world like SW and then soft reset it every time you want to do a new story. Unless each chapter jumps ahead 1,000 years it will never hold up. That was one of the PT’s strengths and has been one of the ST’s pit falls.
I’d say seeing TROSW is akin to sunken cost. You’ve already invested in the narrative of the story even if you hate where it’s gone or where it’s going. You just want to see them take it out back and end the poor thing. I actual guarantee Disney is gonna distance themselves from the ST when it comes to expounding the canon. They know this shit is a cluster fuck and they can’t fix everything so they’ll just move on.
Despite my eventual dislike of 8 that made less likely to view Solo I still like the series as a whole. I used to pay good money…back when we had premium.
