They sure did after TFA.
The current hype is Fortnite. If they put Kylo or Darth Vader into that game, kids would be all over Rise of the Skywalker. Yeah, TLJ could’ve been better, toys r us closing down is also an issue, but you have a hell of a lot of parents that are gonna show all 9 of the movies to their children.
They make a few better moves and they can get the franchise back on track. Its definitely not as tits up as people wanna make it out to be, but they didn’t set some things up as well as they could have.

I can say with my own personal experience that that is absolutely wrong.
Every little kid I know who old enough to know about Star Wars likes Star Wars.
Hell my 3 year old niece was trying to explain to me that Vader is a Space Wizard.
Rey, Leia and Sabine is really popular with Girls.

Minor nitpick all around. TLJ could’ve done a better job. Some people liked it, a lot didnt. Wasnt a good SW movie for selling toys. They still own the franchise and can fix all that. Although it’d be sick to build a lego version of thay dreadnought thingy from the beginning of TLJ or a lego version of Snoke’s ship.

If Disney had been smart they would have first done cartoon series a la Clone Wars to link the events after ROTJ to what leads into TFA
Thnk that’s a hella fair and important point to raise. First Order sort of showed up at random and just loled its way into blowing up half the galaxy.
Also, I still feel blowing up all those planets was a massive mistake TFA made. They literally got rid of a bunch of important planets story wise without any good pay off.

Reshoots are a common thing and they are planned for most major releases. It’s not whether a film is getting reshoots. It’s the amount of reshoots that a can invoke concern. In the case of Solo they reshoot almost the entire movie over again with Ron Howard. Honestly, I didn’t think Solo was that bad. If TLJ was better received, the movie would have done better. Rogue One had bunch of reshoots and it came out okay for the most part. Suicide Squad was fucking mess. It felt like someone diced up all the film and someone taped it back together…mostly in order. The Justice League, like Solo, was a film where a bulk of the movie was re-shot. IMO it came out far worse than Solo.

I have to retract my earlier statement because I read Perthos post wrong. Rouge One did well at the box office despite its reshoots so you’re right about that. Suicide Squad was a fucking mess though.
Suicide Squad was a mess for way more reasons then the reshoots. The editing for the first half of the movie if a fucking disaster. Reshoots can’t save what gets fucked in the edit room.

lack of and or many reshoots doesn’t necessarily mean a movie will be bad. To assume this would mean that you would have to know every fucking thing that happens behind the scenes. However when a movie has entire sequences that are special affects heavy being redone like 3 months before the movie is out that sounds like a fucking issue.
I doubt EP9 will be close to the disaster of EP8 but you know they are fucking scrambling to figure something out so they can make a passable film. I’m also 100% sure this will not be the culmination of the saga because the ST is a mess.
Also just to note. We still haven’t gotten an official full trailer for EP9 yet.

What worries me more than whether Rey goes to the Dark side is if the forced romance with Finn will actually come through in this movie. You could say that she gave in to the true Dark side lol

Or it could be that Rey is a clone, and wow here another clone who happens to be a darkside user.
JJ was clearly setting that up in TFA and Rian competently side tracked that for an even more forced and cringe romance. TLJ jumped the shark long before “that scene” but I had to do a double take when this shit happened:
