Star Wars

I guess I’m defected. Doesn’t change that I like what I like.

To be honest I don’t disagree with @Pertho about an additional shot. One showing Luke looking down at the X-Wing with a pensive stare after Rey left would have been all that’s needed. I still think overall that the way it was done was fine. The only thing that I wished would have happened was some active display of force from Luke. Whether that would have been cowtipping an AT-M6 or forcing Ren’s ship to the surface.

Given the trailer, I don’t think they are going to do as much retconning in the movie as people think.

No lies defected. :coffee:

It’d be kind of a terrible way to tell a story TBH.

Best thing to do is hold that and move it forward in a positive way.

Agreed. There are going to be nuggets that get resolved, but overall, I don’t think the things in the trailer are what they are. The rebuilding of Ren’s helmet, someone with Wookie like arms is doing that. Ben Swolo doesn’t roll like that.

With the story of Battlefront II, Palpatine’s already shown he’s got projections of himself ready to go. In canon, the Aftermath books that show Palpatine already had machinations moving beyond the “grave”.

The trailer is more of a carrot than anything else, which is what this is designed to do. Rey being a “Skywalker” will be a new line of Jedi who are about seeking the balance of the Force, not looking for this hardline duality of the way it operates.

Looking at the YT feed, there are a lot of channels that swore off Star Wars forever that are conveniently making posts from Star Wars Celebration and talking about this movie. I really hope that this is a solid movie and it binds the galaxy together.

Edit - Favorite moment in the teaser is seeing Lando at the helm. Also great is that if Palpatine is back, then we got the Senate, a win-win for the galaxy.

Rey uses The Force to go back in time a few years, to before The Crap happened, and erases Rian’s mistakes, bringing balance back.

DO IT, JJ.

All jokes aside, thanks to Rebels, JJ could actually do that. Ezra saved Ahsoka from Vader by pulling her from their battle right before he lands the killing blow.

I was thinking the same thing, but I highly doubt they’d go that direction.

Disney: “Let the past die…kill it if you have too. So you can love all our new characters instead!! Oh, luke is your Hero? This alien tit milk chugging deserter, who turned his back on all his friends, and the force itself?! Mwhaaahahaha!!!”

(Diminishing profits of movies…toys don’t sell for two shits… jaded fandom… profits declining…etc)

Disney: “Oh look! It’s Palpatine and Lando! You all liked them right? And Luke’s back too and he won’t suck as much. Embrace the past and give us your money!”

SW Fandom: “Suck a hard one, Disney”

^^ Basically the last 3-4 years in a nutshell. Disney tried to assassinate the Star Wars we all know and loved, and in it’s place? Transplant their own, shittier version of it and expected us to unconditionally love it. No sir.

Look man, I’m not sure what you tried to quote because you fucked it up, but you guys keep hating on Star Wars if you want. Nothing’s gonna kill my hype.

Jai guru deva, om.

You know a story/franchise is fucked up when people are hoping for retcons man.

Disney should have just started from a new vantage point instead of continuing the arc of the Skywalker saga.

Toys in general are in rapid decline. Even as a TF collector, the stuff meant for the kids stays on the shelf. The more collector focused items are what get bought. Same is true for Star Wars and it’s been like that since “The Power of the Force” line.

Star Wars is faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar from being a messed up. People may not have liked the movie, but the same folks claiming to boycott the franchise were drinking the Kool-Aid at Celebration, will be going to Galaxy’s Edge and will be spending between $10-$15 on a ticket to see TROS.

It’s because the quality of toys now are shit. You gotta pay premium to get something decent.

Like our toys growing up werent the best visually but they were built better and they were cheaper too.

Also kids rather wanting tech than toys is another huge part of toys general decline.

Agreed. I did mention that the more collector focused stuff moves, but it is also at a higher price point. I would not necessarily say “cheaper”. For reference, a G1 Prime in 1984 was $20. Today that value is almost $50.

Are talking about secondary market or a general reproduction?

No sir. Gotta disagree with your toys argument. Specifically, Transformers. Which are still badass.

But then again, they’re based on Beloved characters, in addition to being cool figures. The Disney Sequel trilogy crew? Not so much. Compelling characters that people LOVE, can and WILL sell toys. Even if the toys are medicore. The Disney Sequel trilogy guys just aren’t interesting.

Most of those bad ass ones are reproductions and are premium priced. If you try to get a transformer for like $5-10 they’re pretty tier. Some of them don’t even transform.

Same with marvel toys. Same with Star Wars toys. Same with DC toys.

Plus there are tons of articles that if you just do a quick google search for that will back up the statement that toy sales have been on the decline for years and will continue to decline as our society, especially the younger generation becomes more reliant on technology.

These are just a few that caught my eye from the first page of a google search.

2% doesn’t seem like a lot but that’s literally millions of dollars a quarter they’re losing.

There are articles going all the way back to 2011 predicting the decline of toys sales as we become more integrated with technology.

Here’s some more talking about Hasbro and other companies having to let go huge percentage of work forces due to decline in sales

https://positivesharing.com/2017/10/lego-layoffs-criticism/

Without toys r us and several retailers shrinking the sizes of their toy aisles these companies are going to have to rely a lot on online market places which isn’t a huge toy market. I know at my work our toy section use to be 5 aisles and almost the entire backwall until it met sporting goods. Now it’s 2 aisles and about a 1/3 of the back wall. Our local target doesn’t even have a toy section any more.

Toys aren’t moving so companies aren’t wanting to carry as much of them any more, or at all.

LEGO is one of the companies that took the biggest blow from toys r us closing since most toys r us’s had the biggest inventory of LEGO in the area (if you had a TRU anyways)

Just comparing the dollar value in 1984 vs 2018. Those articles you posted have been part of the discussion across the spectrum for all brands.
