Star Wars

As a Minnesota Vikings fan, you keep hope that one day, ONE DAY, you live long enough to see them win the Super Bowl.
In relation to being a Star Wars fan, you keep hope the one day, ONE DAY, these film makers will remember what made this franchise awesome.

Am I the only one that has zero interest in a Han Solo movie?

I’m right there with you. I have zero interest in a Han Solo movie.

I lost interest once it was announced. There are a ton of characters that could have gotten the side story treatment.

Boba Fett
Admiral Piett
Admiral Ackbar
Admiral Thrawn
An ace Imperial pilot during the Empire’s rise to glory
Republic Commandos
Anyone not in the movies in the Galaxy far far away

I’m mildly interested. Not having Harrison Ford takes most of the interest out of me. I’m hoping that a trailer can win me over.

I never had interest in it. I like Han’s character well enough but I don’t want to sent through a 2 hour movie focused solely on him.

I don’t really have much interest in a Solo film.
Other than seeing how Han met Chewie, which would probably be told in a tv episode or special.

Agreed. Disney is about to explain everything into the ground. Some things are left better unsaid. I can see backstory with lesser known characters. However, doing it with those central to the story itself feels like overkill. I swear if we get a Princess Leia movie, I will scream.

Hell, they have an entire Jedi Order that they can pull from and use the Old School Jedi Trials as a movie in and of itself during the Old Republic.

There was a order 65, which is to arrest Palpatine. But he owns the courts and is just too powerful. And being a sith in it self is not a crime in the old republic.

no but creating a false flag proxy war so he can rule over the government and create a xenophobic militant empire kinda is.

I just finished watching this. Guess I was wrong about the story group having an outline for the trilogy. Holy shit. That’s fucking crazy considering how much of a universe we’re dealing with here.

it also lends more credence to the idea that NOBODY involved with this project knew what the hell they were doing because the games, books, shows , AND movies give clear blueprints on where you can go and take the franchise. And so to have Disney both disregard ALL OF THAT, and give it to a writer/director who doesnt give a shit and obviously wants to do his own thing, it makes it that much harder to want to get involved with this series.

That’s why I’m surprised for the most part. Everything usually has to get ran by and approved by the story group for continuity and organization. I find it strange that there’s apparently no outline or set of rules for the new trilogy when there is for literally everything else in the canon. Yet I do still know for a fact that certain key events such as Luke’s death were a LucusFilm decision and not a Rian Johnson decision as he talks about trying to fight them on it in an interview.

I just dont understand why they even bothered with the old cast in the first place. they didnt even NEED them! The Skywalker story is over. Finished. Done. Ive played plenty of games, read books, watched shows where they arent there and i got along fine as a Star Wars fan. The only connective tissue required for a good Star Wars ANYTHING are Psychic Wizards (or at least the presence of them),a good sense of adventure and seeing the unknown, a likable cast, some amount of tension and danger, and an evil villain(s) or force trying to stop our heroes from winning. Thats it. Thats ALL YOU NEED. Its so simple that just about anyone on fanfic.net who has familiarity with the material could do it. So why is it so difficult for ONE GUY amid a bunch of other people to build something interesting out of that framework? Makes absolutely NO SENSE.

This is exactly what I said earlier about how they could possibly do this without an outline of how the overall trilogy will play out…

All while Marvel and Feige are right there showing them how its done.

That bit about Lucasfilm wanting Luke to die seems in line with Lucas’ original plan for the new trilogy.
It still could have been handled better, though.

raises hand

Kids say the darndest things…

I don’t know if they would have did the numbers they did without the old cast though.
