I really must not have been as big of a Star Wars fan as I thought.
I had no problems with Luke and how he ended up. I never really saw him as the all loving hero and wise protector of life that Hamill and so many fans viewed him as. He was just a kid that grew into a Jedi that wanted to save his family and friends. No high morals just another hero guy.
Exactly. Many of the criticisms that TLJ has are also evident with reviews of ESB. Itâs just that the interwebz allow that to be cast out through multiple streams.
I donât think that has anything to do with being a âfanâ. I think part of it is expectations of what you think that character means.
See the killcount video I posted. Luke isnât exactly the protector of life LOL
NOBODY is saying Luke isnt going to shoot at soldiers trained to murder him. it would be fucking weird if he didnt try to defend himself. Were saying he wouldnt kill (murder) an unarmed kid who didnt do anything to anybody.
He didnât. It was a thought. Kinda like how he almost went over the edge at the end of ROTJ

Not saying that how it went down was perfect btw.
Yeah, he almost murdered his father when he said âIf youâre not going to join me, maybe your sister will.â
Yeah, that nearly pushed him over the edge and almost got him to be a pawn of the emperor, obi wan, and yoda. Who need i remind you withheld information about his fatherâs identity in the hopes that Luke would kill him without ever knowing who he was. Something he would have done if not for that fact that he beat him so completely that it was unnecessary to kill him at that point. So if Luke wants to be better than those shitbags and be a better teacher than they were I believe he would have tried.
Spoiler
Just as I believe he would not have thought about striking down Ben and instead look for a way to fight and beat Snoke.
reflecting on the point Rich Evans makes in the Half in the Bag review
[details=Spoiler]how fucking stupid the bomber scene is. Why do these bombers need to drop a payload VERTICALLY straight downâŚin space? Why canât they fire in any forward direction? oh because of terrible writing. And for what reason are these bombers so fucking slow they seem like they would be completely useless in war.
thereâs been bombers in Star Wars before, like the Y Wings with Ion torps. What a stupid scene [/details]
Physics of the Star Wars universe makes 0 sense. The Millennium Falcon is the poster child for WTF if you do science.
Also . . . .
Spoiler
remember when the Empire was looking for the Falcon in the asteroid field, and the TIE Bombers were unloading on the surface. This movie continues a precedent.
