Star Wars

Everything that has happened since Ewoks…

…has made me appreciate Ewoks.

Some of you I know hate this guy but this review made me laugh

am i crazy or was the ironing joke a straight up space balls reference?

why do i get the feeling JJ gonna
a)say Kylo was lying about Rey’s parents being nobodies and that theyre actually siblings.
b)bring Luke back as a ghost.
c)blow up Carrie Fisher to smitherings off screen.

will JJ dismantle Rian’s lore? or follow it?

My only concern with the film was NOT HAVING ENOUGH GREEN LIGHTSABER ACTION!!!

I actually thought that he was gonna pull out ol green and slay some niggas like in RotJ.

But no, he draws the shitty Blue saber as a force projection.

I also love how they decided to keep the little plot point from Battlefront 2’s story and have Luke keep the compass

What was so significant about those Gold Dices?

Spoiler

i think theyre Han’s…or Lando’s…either one. also the dice that won the falcon from Lando to Han

This is something I can get behind

The more i think about this movie, the more pissed off i am and i’m not alone. It seems everyday i see more new videos on my youtube feed with people dissecting the movie in detail on how it went wrong.

The Last Jedi= Proving that even the great MouseHouse can screw up and wreck a franchise.

It also seems like they blew their load too early with this one, and didn’t save enough for the 3rd movie. I hope they don’t pad out the runtime with a lot of fluff to fill things out, like this one with the casino stuff.

Man, the more I think about it, the more I realize that TLJ could quite possible be my favorite Star Wars movie ever. It definitely rivals ESB. I’m going to go see it at least three more times in the theater because it’s such a good movie.

Bruh, it ain’t that good… This film has SIGNIFICANT flaws…
However, you don’t see anything wrong with the DC movies either.

On the flipside, it isn’t the disaster people are making it out to be either.

I like it overall, but that middle act and the multitude of out-of-character moments and bad decisions really hurt it.

The Last Jedi will be to Star Wars fans as what Beast Machines is to Transformers fans. Initially reviled but appreciated for the story it told years later.

You need to stop your damn trolling. Shut the fuck up.

You don’t see anything wrong with DC movies? Ya you trolling.

Not trolling. I own every DC movie to date on blu-ray because I’m a big fan of them. I also like the direction the new Say Wars is taking. And I had a great time watching TLJ. I’m sorry you guys hate it, but that doesn’t change the fact that I fucking loved it! Seriously, it’s definitely top two or three for me, still letting it sink in more before I decide but it’s getting even better the more I think about how awesome it is.

[details=Spoiler]I think the focus here is even the “Heroes” can fail.
That people need to stop trying to be Heroes and just do their job.

Also the the “lovable” scoundrel DJ didn’t have a golden heart, and instead turns out to be a sleaze ball.

The Flyboy troupe from older SW movies, Top Gun and such got rekt. That shit actually gets people killed in real life, so its nice to see it in a film for once.
Poe learned the hard way as well, and you notice for that ground battle, Poe called the order to retreat. He learned somehow and became a little but more wiser and perhaps a better leader.

As for Reys parentage, they demystify it as its also a ugly troupe that needs to go. Rey didn’t need to come from some special lineage like Ben/Kylo or be prophesize like Anakin.
In some whats Rey is closer to Luke is before we knew about Luke’s past, she was a nobody. She was a nobody from nowhere with no purpose.
Rey felt empty because of it and yearned to belong somewhere. Rey learned at the end that her past don’t matter as much as the present, she has a family with whats left of the Rebellion and her friends.
Rey purpose is one she made for herself, yeah the force guided her but Rey instead of building on the old forged her own way.

As for Rey not getting trained, remember the old Jedi ways and their doctrine was heavily flawed. The Jedi lost their way and was wiped out because they got too involved with politics in the prequel trilogy instead of focusing on their purpose. The Jedi were never intended to be a instrument of war, but of protection. Its why so many Jedi died at the battle of Geonosis, they all foolishly ran in thinking the Force would protect them without thinking the whole thing though. Also leading a army of slave solders was never the Jedi way, no matter how much the Old Republic was desperate for help.

The only plot armor here is that we need Fin, Rey and Po for the next film.
And well as technically the Force is literally Plot armor in it’s definition.

Also How Luke went out, Making a Force projection from the other side of the Galaxy was more epic than Luke ever did in the EU.

And Luke did some mighty powerful things like Mind Crush a Sith who was Mind Crushing a whole planets worth of people, and when he had to basically fight the Star Wars version of the Juggernaut, Luke used the force to make himself an unmovable object. I mean an actual Unmovable object, as it was fucking up the ship he was on, and it couldn’t move as Luke was on it being unmovable.

Normally to force choke someone you need to see them, open a com frequency and get them on the viewer.
Even Palatine, Snoke and Vader needs to see someone to force choke a bitch.

Luke just Meditated (and hovered off the ground) as he created a force projection that convinced everyone he was there.
Projection so real he was dueling Kylo and winning, even if he could or could not harm him.[/details]

A worthy watch about the themes of the movie

Imagine if the internet and YouTube existed in 1980. You’d have fans posting videos and blogs about how ESB ruined Star Wars.

Because ESB had the exact same reaction back in the eighties (and it was thought that RoTJ was the superior film), because it did the same thing TLJ does - put Star Wars on its head and subvert fans expectations. The only difference is that ESB did it for one movie, TLJ is doing it for the entire franchise since.

People legit being harsh on this movie. I can understand not agreeing with the creative direction. But to say it’s a terrible movie is just exaggerating it’s flaws. People need to stop being so salty.

Because how dare a Movie ends with the heroes taking the lost, the villains win and the film end on a dark note.
Its a gutsy move, but a great one. It was the 2nd act the original Trilogy needed, and Empire only flaw is a set up for a possible sidequest to get Han back off of ice in Return of the Jedi.

I won’t speak for others, but this movie is flawed from a pacing, narrative, and character standpoint.

Spoiler

Take out the middle act, let Luke actually train Rey, even half-assed like Yoda trained Luke*(you can even keep everything else about him, except that line about Snoke turning Ben–that shit ruins all three characters simultaneously)*, and not let everyone in the Resistance not named Leia act a damn fool, and you’d have a movie that not only rivaled Empire, but could likely top it.

Now all the pressure is on Abrams to fix the character inconsistencies while also weaving the plotlines to a close in IX… and I don’t think he can do all of those things in one movie.
