And lol at Luke showing up only after the resistance has been whittled down to a sleepover party. He couldn’t have shown up a little earlier? He was only a projection. Obi-wan as the old jedi mentor in ANH did way more than Luke did in TLJ

No. No. No. No. No. NO.
You are not gonna compare this to that piece of shit… Alien Covenant just flat out fucking sucks.
This is still a Star Wars film, flawed, but serviceable. Covenant is The Phantom Menace levels of fucking retarded and unnecessary… and Phantom Menace was STILL more original and the characters (including fucking Jar-Jar) somehow made more contextually intelligent decisions.
Fucking BIOLOGISTS walking around an unexplored alien planet with no protection, sticking their faces all up in shit… Deviating from the flight path because this random ass planet played some John Denver… Fuck all the way outta here with that noise.
I noticed that too. Man-babies crying about their childhood being ruined for the nth time.
For all it’s flaws which include midichlorians and Jar Jar Binks, The Phantom Menace managed to keep the OG Star Wars feel. The planet hopping, lightsaber fights and preposterous plot were standard SW fare.
Well the recurring theme of the whole thing between the new trilogy and the prequel trilogy is still “Good actors forced to read and act out a terribly written and directed script.” NOBODY CARES if its the same as the original (unless its straight up PLAGIARISM as was the case with TFA) or if its all new. Fans and newcomers alike just want a fun, well told story set in sci fi fantasy universe with blaster pistols, smuggling pirates, laser swords, and space psychic wizards both good and evil. That premise ALONE is enough to get movie goers interested and wanting to spend time watching it play out onscreen if its done decently well. AND IT DID when the original trilogy came out in the late 70s. And had the script and direction been just as well done in the prequel and new trilogy, no one would bat an eye. But they arent. One was done by a man with vision who wasnt surrounded by people willing to tell him “Thats fucking dumb George. Stop doing that.” while holding cattle prods to his back. And this film was done by both a committee of people willing to remake a movie that never needed to be remade as well as a second film made simply to undermine what we loved about the series and characters we grew up with that only a cynical piece of Hollywood hipster shit could have made.
It only proves that the wrong people are involved with Star Wars and they need to either get the people who write the TV shows or did the games like a Chris Avellone (who helped make the most interesting and smart Star Wars character in Kreia) to make these cool characters and give the actors something good and cool to embody. Because for the most part i think the actor choices and the people doing the FX are fine. Nobody is really complaining much about the people portaying them (i actually like them tbh), just that the script and directing is either awful or meh.
Overall the script is terrible with so many plot holes and stupidity this is Disney era Star Wars were the franchise is going to be milked to death. As for critics highly praising The Last Jedi who are we kidding now the movie rating was sky high before release on sites like IMDB and Rotten Tomatos same was done for terrible flicks like Transformers The Last Knight and Alien Covenant it’s all about marketing and buying your success.
I still can’t stomach the [details=Spoiler] Luke tried to kill young Ben Sulu it’s completely out of his character post RoTJ and Leia’s superman stunt was something out of Spaceballs come to think of it many moments in TLJ would have worked better in a Spaceballs movie[/details] .
Btw Phantom Menace as bad as is it was, had a one of the greatest scenes in Star Wars the duel with Darth Maul.
hahahahaah Spaceballs
Can’t wait for Kylo to flip the ON switch…
Also… Bonus sexy Dark Helmet cosplay.
Needs more Knights of Ren.

George Lukeus did not direct The Last Jedi very well
Here’s a fresh takeaway from TLJ:
Terrible movie, by far the worst SW film. Daisy Ridley is a terrible actress too. Someone buy her a coach, or just get someone else.
I actually thought Ridley had improved a ton from last movie and didn’t notice anything too jarring. I thought Hamill was actually worse than her in several scenes.
[details=Spoiler] The Problem with Rey is that she’s the maximum orphan superhero individualist. She received no training from a biological family or spiritual parents. No military training or a rebellion system. She was already one of the most adept force users in the whole galaxy before meeting Luke and Luke rejected training her. She’s just effortlessly incredibly competent.
Where to start, Episode VIII, despite all the money shots, fan-service and sequel callbacks, half the movie felt like a generic disney sci-fi film. The cute creatures, the crappy bad guys, the story deraling subplots about space horses and their urchin caretakers that had no connection at all to the SW mythology.
The acting was poor all around. Adam Driver is the only one who really registers, everyone else can probably make the sequel to the next 101 dalmatian movie. I am starting to appreciate that George “faster, more intense” Lucas got out of his cast.
In terms of plot, this is a 5 act movie and its acts could be shuffled into any order with no effect. The rebels run from one underdog encounter to the next. The fights are meaningless, repetitive and resolved by contrivance. There is no development of what the few new things were thrown into The Force Awakens- The first order, Snoke, KoR.
Disney has done the impossible, it made the Lucas Prequel movies look like tense, dramatic masterpieces and his whiny characters seem deep and layered. While bloggers have been uniformly impressed by TLJ, audience reaction looks far more mixed, with only about half of the early audience giving it good reviews.
Also, the timeline between both movies is short, Rey is the ultimate mary-sue…

I disagree with the notion these actors are not good. Hamill, Ridley, and Driver in particular turn in solid performances in my opinion.
Not having strong material or direction =/= Being a bad actor.
Rey not struggling at all with learning how to tap into the Force or use a lightsaber is one of the worst contrivances of this new trilogy. I expected her to at least have a hard time grasping the concepts of Jedi training, but they “nope’d” right out of that with Luke not attempting to teach her shit. When Luke was ducking and dodging her following him around on the island, I figured it would be revealed he was secretly training her on some Mr. Miyagi shit…
Having an open mouth all the time, and a surprised look, doesn’t mean you are acting. Ridley is by far the worst actress in the movie. Fisher is the only one who comes close, but she was old and was just in it for the paycheck, like Ford in the last movie, so I can’t blame her too much.
[details=Spoiler] I’ve said this in my posts before, but this movie is just as much about being a reflection of the franchise and its fans. In Star Wars, the result of mass scale conflicts hinge on one or a few special chosen (Anakin/Luke) and the Skywalker lineage receives a degree of hyper focus from the cast. Luke’s the big legendary hero and a paragon that restored balance and peace (didn’t last). The Resistance wants to find Luke because he’s a huge legend they believe can turn the tide of the conflict (Luke even mocks Rey for thinking this). The First Order wants to kill him for the same reasons. Snoke expects Kylo’s lineage should make him an exceptional apprenticeship and it becomes this burden looming over the characters. The legend of Luke becomes greater than himself, and in one horrific moment of fear and misunderstanding, he fails Kylo. He runs away from everything, including the force because he doesn’t want to confront his fears and shame, to have to fight and possibly kill his very own nephew that he unfortunately sent into Snoke’s arms. Kylo is trying desperately to live up to his grandfather’s legacy.
It’s burden on the franchise; this new trilogy having to live up to what preceded it, to meet the expectations of a fanbase that treats the franchise (well, maybe not all of it) as if it were the Bible, and following these iconic characters and similar beats (they could’ve come up with something new, but I don’t think a completely new series would have quite the same draw as seeing the old characters again and their lives after the OT, especially after so many years.) I mean, you’ve literally got Rey and Kylo, the new heroine and villain of this trilogy struggling for Anakin’s and Luke’s sabre, the legacy of the Skywalkers, before it gets destroyed.
There’s the usual conflict between the light and dark side of the force, between some evil regime and the rebels but with a new element outside the black and white morality with the rich at Canto Bine being more than happy to fuel war as long as it makes them profit. Same outside of the story really, as long as there’s a demand for Star Wars and similar stories within the universe, they’ll continue to get made and all the work of the heroes and the balance of the Force becomes undone again. Nothing gets resolved. There’s constant talk of killing the past and starting anew, getting rid of the Jedi, and whatnot. But the film doesn’t want to entirely move on from the past. It wants to use the past and its failures and pave the way for new stories for a modern audience (hence the whole “Force is for everyone”, slowly moving away from the Skywalker family, more diverse casting, etc.) There will almost always be plot contrivances in stories for multiple reasons, and for better or worse, Rian Johnson didn’t care whether or not the story was 100% airtight. It’s the themes and messages he wanted to portray that he felt was more important, and similar-minded people seem to find them more interesting than who Snoke is and other questions.
Personally, as an examination of the franchise, The Last Jedi is great, I enjoyed the film and I appreciate what Johnson and the rest of the creative team did. But it reeks of typical geek self awareness and deprecation, of someone who’s a fan but feels they’ve grown beyond it. You have Luke disparaging his light sabre as a “laser sword”, Snoke yelling at Kylo for losing to a girl who’s untrained, which feels like a caricature of those who complained about Rey during the last fight and other somewhat clunky dialogue. The dialogue, and the whole vibe of the movie doesn’t feel particularly sincere, organic or earnest at times. Even as someone who’s not that invested in Star Wars as others, it felt particularly smug.
Oh, to answer the whole dice thing, I guess Luke was able to hand the dice over to Leia, because she’s also Force sensitive, like how Rey and Kylo were “touching” each other through their Force connection (Luke also connected with Leia while she was unconscious I believe).

Did anyone else laugh at…
[details=Spoiler]…this fool Kylo Ren basically cock blocking himself?
I mean Rey was all moist and ready to give up the ass if this fool turned to the light.
The look of disappointment on her face was all, “I was about to rock his galaxy…”[/details]
@“po pimpus”
…She wanted that bad boy darkside dicking, for realz. Finn was too thirsty and she wanted to work for it…I actually think if they would have teamed up at the end to create a new balanced version of the Sith/Jedi (Graysiders) it would have been more interesting than rehashing the OG trilogy.
she was answering his texts=she wants the D.
Kylo Rey shipping is the only thing I care about now, unless Boba Fett canon survived the sarlac pit and comes back.
