The more I think about it… Christ, Kylo is the dumbest man in the galaxy. As soon as Luke emerged from the barrage from an entire squad of AT-AT’s with not even a scratch, he didn’t even pause to think “ayyyy something’s not right”
I wonder if this allows for a true remaster of the Original Trilogy; cleaning up the matte lines, improving the audio track, and restoring the visuals.
The only special edition that bothered me was the ROTJ Blu Ray. The added Vader NOOOOOO made me almost want to break the disc in half. It was a moment that was captured perfectly with Vader’s movement. There was no need to tell the audience what was happening.
people that like Episode 1, 2 and 3 can also like episodes 7 and 8. people shouldnt stereotype nor draw lines between fans. generally, a lot of SW fans like all the movies.
I didn’t like Rogue One, though it was apparent that isn’t not mainline and told a story that didn’t need to be told since it was obvious what the outcome would be,
lacked the lightsaber duels and elements that put the series on the map (c’mon, they could have written in an unknown Jedi that would eventually duel with Vader. if Obi Wan didnt come out of hiding, Vader would have never found him. Rogue One could of introduced a 2nd to last remaining Jedi, that would have made things more interesting. but it was just too pew pew and only 1/4 of what makes Star Wars great).
so there’s really no way Episode 8 could be as bad as Rogue One, and it can easily surpass Episode 7, which is entirely better than Episode 4.
I can’t call Rogue One bad, but it wasn’t at all that interesting. The protagonist had a more passive role in the story. I never felt engaged with what she had going on. Jyn had no real influence to the world as the movie went on. By the time they pulled the last shot of her, I really didn’t care about the journey. I only know the names of the characters in that movie because Star Wars Black Series figures are en route to the Transformers in the toy aisle.
People only talk about Rogue One because of what happens in the last 5 minutes of the movie. If it weren’t for that, we probably wouldn’t be talking about it at all. Outside of the finale for the crew, it was a very safe movie.
Rogue One was a fun ride with some really strong moments and some dumb ones. It wasn’t perfect, but I dug it.
The Last Jedi was much, much better, though. Best Star Wars movie so far out of the post-original-trilogy ones. It has some pacing problems that make it feel too long and slightly disjointed, but outside of that it kicks ass and should be watched.
the only thing i didnt like about Rogue One was the exclusion of John Williams’ music. Excluding what is literally his best composed soundtracks was no bueno.
that and Carrie Fisher’s cgi face. tho cgi Tarkin looked good.
Man I wasnt feeling it. Im giving it 2 out of 4 pew pew zap zaps… I was expecting to like it a lot more. Blade runner deff the best movie ive seen this year. I thought it was pretty anti climatic, to me it more so felt like a movie you just go to see because it looks cool and its something to do on a free day with friends. Really was hoping for a better pay off but it just kinda ends and its like well. Ok i guess…
I just want to hear from someone if the plot is decent. I didn’t really like ep 7 that much cause it felt like a ep 4: SJW remake. It wasn’t bad sure, but it was really underwhelming for me. Hope inclusion of Luke and some info on Rey’s background makes it more interesting but you never really know.
An excellent chapter (dare I say episode) in Star Wars lore
[details=Spoiler]Old Man Luke will be the defining role in this movie to me. It was great to see him play the wise but cynical master. The story is as much about him as the new blood. Oh and the way he completely mindfucked Kylo Ren was gold.
Kylo Ren took a much needed character progression. He went from being a wannabe, to essentially a henchman, and to a power hungry maniac. It was great to see them tease his light side return only to see it shatter into full blown megalomania. He flipped the switch to full blown Vader and it was great.
Rey…, I’ll be honest she is good but the arcs of Luke, Kylo, and even Poe were better to me. Honestly she felt like an instrument between Luke and Kylo. The reveal of her lineage was very good IMO. She is no one special, just an orphan whose parents sold her. To me this makes her connection to the Force and role in the Resistance better than it’s her birthright.
Poe is cool once again. He has a lot of maturation in this movie. Like watching Russell Westbrook go from chucking up bricks to efficiently running the offense.
My biggest gripes began with the Finn-Rose dynamic. I wont say it felt tacked on it just felt like they wanted diversity and to quell the Finn-Rey and Finn-Poe people. Last, and this did upset me, why the hell is Phasma even in this movie? This bitch went out worse than Boba and Jango Fett. [/details]
TLDR: Go see the Last Jedi.
[details=Spoiler]Just saw it and honestly I have mixed feelings about the experience, the story isn’t really fine-grained when you watch the film you really see how the writer is forcing a sub-plot that doesn’t make sense and also ignores the time frame of the events it’s a very rushed movie.
It does have some shinning, beautiful moments.
But for me this movie is the worst of the saga storywise so much potential is wasted.
