Not really. There are some inflection points where it gets awkward. For the most part it works. They go back to using a puppet, which IMO, was not a good look. Lucas made a CG Yoda for a reason. I totally agree with him. This puppet looks off.
I thought it was good, but it damn sure doesn’t hold a candle to ESB. Right now I’d hold it in the middle my tier list.

I don’t really look at it as part of the “Anthology” in the sense that it doesn’t directly cover the same characters. That being said, I’d put it between ROTS and TPM
[details=Spoiler]8/10; I don’t know how to place it compared to ESB but as for it’s status as the sequel in a trilogy, it is definitely a success. Regarding Luke’s badass moment, the only part that gave it away for me was him wielding Anakin’s lightsaber since you see it get wishbone’d earlier. I know that a gajillion laser bolts tearing up his spot should look suspect but it’s Luke Muthafuckin’ Skywalker; how could you not believe it?!
I knew Luke was gonna show up but I was banking on him raising the X-Wing and stealing Finn’s thunder. Also Yoda was fantastic, couldn’t ask for more. Only concern going forward is what’ll they do with Leia?[/details]
I’m not even sure where Mark Hamill ends and old man Luke Skywalker begins anymore
Finally back from watching The Last Jedi. It was definitely better than The Force Awaken. Good movie B)
Seeing it on Sunday or Monday. Since I didn’t like Force Awakens or rogue one I’m not expecting much. Like, at all.

I was confused by how low Rogue One was being rated and then remembered that this series is a goddamned national treasure.
Iiiiii’m underwhelmed, I think. Seeing it again Sunday. Felt like they were maybe trying to do too much sometimes and then doing nothing other times. Also took about four hours out of my day between arriving, trailers, and the movie. :wtf:
All I can say is crazy!!! ive seen it 3 times and TLJ is in my top 3.

I had to marinate on it. It is definitely not perfect but it’s growing on me. Some of the expectations I had going in and how they were addressed in the movie didn’t play out how I wanted. This translated more to disappointment directly after viewing especially with all the fan theories. I don’t necessarily hold those same thoughts since this was a new vision of an old story.

Safe to say that knights of Ren are pretty much Kylo’s Sith soldiers for Episode IX. Also, remember the scene when one of the generals was going to kill Kylo in Snoke’s room? Bet that guy is also a Sith, but we couldn’t see him pull out his lightsaber because Kylo woke up. Looks like in this movie Luke is the Yoda to Rey. Also, I have a feeling that that’s not the whole story about Rey’s parents. You don’t think Kylo and Rey are maybe half siblings or something. A lot of scenes reminded me of the original trilogy, where Kylo did a Vader to Rey by asking her to join him. Guess Kylo got sick and tired of being belittled by Snoke and took the perfect opportunity like all Sith and killed his master;
it wasn’t to help Rey in any way though, I don’t think. Where Kylo keeps on saying, “forget the past”. It’s also a metaphor in a way.
In other words, don’t think about the and don’t dwell to much on the past because it only keeps from doing things. You’re not free if you keep dwelling on the past. You don’t necessarily have to kill anyone.
A lot of Expanded Universe/Extended Universe material in the sequel trilogy as well. They’re just under different names and slightly different scenes, that’s all…[/details]

Another thing about the visuals (for continuity people)
As I was watching the final showdown between Kylo Ren and Luke I hoped he was physically there. As Kylo was moving, they made attempts to show you that he was kicking up salt, showing the red floor. Luke never made tracks at all during that scene.
I do think this movie did some awesome stuff with Star Wars tech that was never done before.
What about that general that tried to kill Kylo? Didn’t Luke say that Rey embraced the dark side of the force more than Kylo did? Could Rey wielding Kylo’s red light saber be a foreshadowing?

Luke did say that about Rey. However, don’t we all for a brief moment. Luke had a moment where he was going to kill Ben for the “greater good”. I wouldn’t think about foreshadowing on her holding his lightsaber. Just a cool moment in the movie.
Plus it’s completing the circle in a way. After all, in TPM, Anakin was just some random son of a slave on Tatooine before they discovered he had vast potential
