Star Wars Thread

Yeah, although Revenge of the Sith is good mainly for the payoff and the glorious memes. The rest of the prequels outside of the fights and some great concepts is really bad like John Carter or Battleship films bad.

Well the one thing that Star Wars always had going for it was that they were visual effect spectacles. Since the PT, we’ve had LoTR and the MCU. The visual aspect of the movies isn’t really special anymore.

Still printing money but it does mean you have to clean up your story telling something fierce.

The Star Wars brand isn’t like what it used to be. We live in the Fortnight/Twitch/Social media era. Way more shit to distract kinds and newcomers to the franchise than there used to be. If the mainline movies are ass how is that gonna bode well for the future of franchise? It’s at it’s lowest point because of dumb moves from the top.

Series is so ass now all three movies of the new trilogy will make 1b+.

Look you don’t like the current movies, cool. But you can’t keep trying to rewrite the actual reality of the franchise. The series isn’t at a low point, it’s bigger than it has ever been and still growing.

I prefer them as space knights. The common Jedi ain’t absurdly powerful to warrant being myths. Many don’t use the force to it’s fullest and tend to be just as vulnerable as the avenge soldier. Honestly, I’m over them being a rare thing. I want them everywhere like in prequel trilogy and old republic era.

True, but it’s a galaxy. There aren’t that many just running around.

Because he said they weren’t impeccable and you instantly jumped to that meaning they must be shit.

Do you even read the shit you type?

Are we really going to equate box office success to quality? Bayformers was ass and it made a shit ton of money for Hasbro.

He’s not equating it to quality. He is equating it to success.

The movies isn’t what got me into the series. So it doesn’t bother me if the movies suck. OG movies is the best of the lot but found them unremarkable.

Not quality, success.

Bayformers is a great example. Did the Transformers franchise tank cause the movies were bad? Hell no.

New trilogy is better than the prequels and doing well financially. In no way is the current trilogy destroying the franchise or whatever other nonsense people say.

Saying SW is at a low point is just as silly as the comments thinking it would bomb.

I like the prequel trilogy over the sequel trilogy. Both are shit but atleast the prequels had a goal that it saw through to the bitter end and flowed well constantly between all three films. It wasn’t a jumbled mess of a story that kept trying to undo what the previous movie did with the follow-ups.

If that’s the case and I’m being 100% serious, why are we even having this discussion? If things didn’t look bleak why has Bob Iger been stepping over KK? Why is EP9 a shit show? Why did all production halt on future Star Wars movies/TV content? Before TLJ you had articles coming out about all the future content on the big and small screen, Rians trilogy etc. They even had that ridiculous raodmap at D23 where they tried to pull an MCU to hype up future content. Than after TLJ all of a sudden iger is like “naw we gonna slow things down”.

So nothing is wrong, the brand is as strong as ever and everyone is just fear mongering over nothing.

Okay…

@TWINBLADES

Everybody keeps trying to follow MCU roadmap without doing any of the work, then be surprised that it failed. :eyes:

Don’t be obtuse. The current trilogy is far from perfect. Its production and final product clearly had issues. But y’all can fuck off all the way with this doom and gloom bullshit.

Ever single Star Wars movie that releases ruins the series. Every single one.

It should have been better without a doubt, but the series isn’t ruined cause a bunch of man children and YouTube videos say so. By your own logic RT scores and the money it’s making show it isn’t a failure. Conspiracy theories are wack too.

Treating Star Wars like the MCU was a mistake.

That was the first mistake they made.

Secondly, Rogue One is a cool ass movie and I bet Solo is gonna be hella fun when I rewatch it.

  1. He’s the temporary face as KK drew so much ire. Either someone else will be propped up, or she’ll return back into the spotlight.
  2. J.J. Abrams and Chris Terrio. If you are the writer/director, the vision and execution pretty much rests at your feet.
  3. Nothing has changed with that D23 map. This was from August 2019.

This, all of this.

There you go again with that either or horse shit. It’s either a disaster dumpster fire or a massive success of perfection and pure pureness. No room for middle ground at all.

Fuck you are ridiculous.

The franchise went from being western mythology to another film franchise that grosses billions for Disney. Since it’s just like something else, that makes it a “failure”.

Haha, no. This is supposed to be the BIG Finale to Disney’s crapcular sequel trilogy. Pretty sad that none of you want to discuss it much. Speaks volumes.

And yet, you’ll jump to defend it… WHY again?

Everyone who has seen it has already discussed it.

We’ve discussed the movies a lot. Once it comes out on blu-ray or Disney +, pretty sure we’ll all be able to get on board with rewatching it and comparing them fairly (think that’ll be a fun nerdy thing to do).

But we’ve discussed various SW things in here. Don’t know why you’re hung that it only has to be the movie that’s discussed.
