I’m so glad I’m not an SW fan. I can’t imagine people taking notes on this video to do rebuttals. Maybe that should be a youtube channel “Your opinion is bad and you should feel bad”. Just have a channel dedicated to calling it out inconsistent gibberish put out by angry people.

that’s just part 1.
The problem with these people is that they don’t understand what they claim they love. Star Wars movies have had issues always. We’ve gone over some stuff here in comparison to TLJ. That whole hurr durr Luke didn’t get any training between ANH and ESB and the issue with TFA to TLJ (TLJ takes places immediately after TFA, like literally right afterwards which is why a lot of stuff is off).
But what these videos always devolve to is complaining about issues that old Lucasfilm always fixed afterwards with novelizations. Most of the people who hate the ST are bigger fans of the EU, where all of their nerd nitpickings are explained, as opposed to the movies which constantly have a lot of details left out. But because they are dumb dumbs, they don’t get that they are trying to force their EU addled brains into demanding that the movies do something they can’t do due to time crunches.
One of the vids I was going to post explaining this issue had the guy literally pull up a fluff book, look up how many people it takes to man a star destroyer, and then do the math on how many people were in all the Star Destroyers. Once you start doing that, you’ve gone off the deep end from ever being able to enjoy a Star Wars movie. All of the new ST movies have a lot of questions unanswered, but that’s the stuff for fluff. They’ve lost the game well before they even began playing it.

It’s like when people claim that that 1986 Transformers movie is great and Michael Bay ruined their childhood. If you try to talk bad about that movie in the TF circle, prepare for death.
The original movies had problems too. However, no one worries about the logic in them (as much) because you watched them much younger and the ideas are tied to a feeling more than anything else. The most glaring reality in all of this is that Disney clearly had 0 plan.

There are different perspectives to write books, two big ones are 3rd person personal and omniscient. Just because you’re an omniscient observer in a movie (which depends how its being shot) doesn’t mean all the characters are.
Hella people didn’t know about Snoke in TFA or TLJ. People weren’t asking for Hitler’s birth certificate during WW2 either.

And here is an important thing about this. Back in the OT you could infer that “well if Obi Wan taught Luke, does that mean that Palpatine trained Vader the same way? oh shit wtf is the story behind that” and then you get books with lore.
A fair and reasonable problem you can make about the Sequel Trilogy is that they should’ve approached some of this issues with a bit more preparation. Infinity War took some time to explain who Thanos was. But in that way, the MCU already had a coherent plan. Saying “well this is one thing that made the movies suffer a little bit because of the writing” isn’t the same as “I BET ROSE’S SISTER WAS MAD THAT SHE DIED NOT KNOWING WHERE SNOKE CAME FROM”.

It took 40 years after the battle of Yavin before Han Solo became 40, The book the solo movie loosely based from had Han rescuing his girl from a cult lead by alien cows, who’s mating call was like a drug. And they try to make Luke into superman with his force powers.

So this guy is complaining about Palpatine being back. Fine, we can probably spend a good half a day discussing a lot of great reasons why he shouldn’t have. But now this guy complained that Kylo didn’t question everything once he found out Palpatine was manipulating him and that instead Kylo remained steadfast in trying to rule.
Well no shit he went over to kill whomever was doing dumb shit. TLJ set up Kylo as Supreme Leader. Suddenly bullshit is happening that puts Kylo’s leadership into question. Given that the Sith don’t like their authority challenge, why would he be okay with being undermined? If he did what you asked which was “Oh wow, I really fucked up” it would’ve been a break of character.
The whole point of the dark side is the corruption. He gave in fully to it. Killed Han, Killed Snoke, punked Hux and now that he is in power, he should doubt himself and give it all up because some clown is sending Vines to the universe?

There a few good writers like Timothy Zhan, but the rest was awful. The Thrawn and Jedi Academy series was good.
The whole Vuzan Vog war was majority WTF.
And if you follow the books, there like 4 different people who claim to designed the Death star.

In all fairness, Luke as the strongest Jedi in the universe makes sense for Luke’s timeline: there are no other Jedis unless he trains them. Because he already had a heads up and years on everybody, he’ll be better acquainted with its uses than the rest.
EU force powers are wild though. The Palpatine jazz hands at the end of RoS are straight out EU force power Gangnam style (as explaiend to me by my friend). Looked goofy on film though.
Rey just needed a time skip of some time like Luke had between ANH and EBS. Maybe not full powered earth bending like she did at the end of TLJ but hey who knows now. Think watching them back to back will have Rey’s character make more sense. Getting the story piecemeal made her look weird, getting it in full scope you can make the argument that she is just dealing with a different internal struggle than Luke or Anakin so its just her special situation.
For the sake of being released years apart though, TLJ should’ve helped out the character more.
