If memory serves, the purple are quite rare and Mace Windu undergone quite a journey to find one and prove how bad-ass he is/was.
What other exotic colors were there?
Only other color I know of other than the one’s listed above is Sam Jackson Purple.
I know of orange, yellow and once or twice mentionned in the comics: silverish-white.
and a bronze/brownish colour as well
And yes he had to go to some random planet which was the only place they could be found.
EDIT: Hurikane was the name of the planet.
So are the rare colors any different, or are they more to boast. Not loudly be arrogant, but when you see that special color, you know about the kind of hell the person had to go through to get it.
Played the demo. Fun game. Don’t think I’ll buy it though. Great force lifting/throwing mechanics.
more for boast the tech is all the same basically.
I downloaded the demo and the game is fuckin crazy.
Star Wars + God of War + Devil May Cry = The Force Unleashed
Once you figure out the insane use of Starkiller’s Force Power, the rape ensues.
I need the full version because I need to see the powers upgraded. I can just imagine how beastly he’s gonna be at full strength.
And playing “Nigga Stole My Lightsaber” while playing the game really enhances the experience.
If the demo is any indication of the final game then it can very well blow all other action games out of the water and the definitive single player action game of this gen woot!
I’ll post up all the cool and not so obvious combos I found later.
edit: X, X, Y,Y is his best combo in terms of damage and efficiency.
Speaking of which, if you delay your button presses, Starkiller’s combos change (extra hits, wider attack arc, plus it looks cooler). Just press the attack button at the end of your swing
Doesn’t seem to have any effect on the Y button though.
no doubt dude I’ve played through the demo close to a dozen times now. Shit is just too much fun toying with bitches.
Tried the demo again. My opinion remains the same.
It’s fun to play, and the Force grab mechanics are solid. It kinda plays like a sci-fi Mario 2 in that there are plenty of things to grab and hurl at enemies (including other enemies). One gripe here: while the game auto-targets well enough, I wish I could hold a button down Tales-style to temp pause and select my exact target. Speaking of targeting, the camera works very well, and almost always stays in the right position.
On the hardest difficulty you couldn’t just run head first into a squadron of blaster-toting troops without getting killed, which is cool. Or is it? I found that meleeing was really pointless when I could just find cover and grab shit to fling. And, no, I don’t want those guns I’m fighting to have no impact, but the melee component is severely underpowered, except for X, Y, Y, which is the only combo I bothered using when surrounded. Also, it makes no sense, canonically nor mechanically, why enemies can take more than one swing of your lightsaber. Really, melee range is already a pretty poor position, so the least your LASER SWORD could do is one-shot enemies foolish enough to get close.
Guarding sucks. The Apprentice can’t move while guarding and it doesn’t stop everything anyway. Positioning his right arm towards fire makes him auto-deflect some incoming fire and lets you move, which is better than guarding in every way. I wish there was a secondary type of melee swing that was slower (and maybe enemies would be prone to combat roll out of the way or something) but had some sort of built-in autoguard.
The demo wasn’t too tough. The first time I tried it I died twice on the outset thinking that I was Sora and when that failed I used cover, hucked things from safety, used X, Y, Y and made short work of the rest of the demo. The second run was no problem on the hardest difficulty; I barely took any damage. I had fun, but the game hasn’t hooked me enough to purchase. I’ll say this, though; this looks like the best Star Wars game in a long time. If a friend buys it I may borrow it.
All the combos in the demo, a majority of these were posted on GameFAQs:
[d] delay

[H] hold
Basic Lightsaber Combo Explanation
- X>X>X- Starkiller’s B&B Lightsaber combo. Delaying the X input in this combo creates different variations of the sequence all of which can be ended with X/Y/B, some examples are:
X[d]X>X[d]X
X[d]X[d]X>[X/Y/B]
X>X[d]X>[X/Y/B]
Lightsaber + Force Lighting
- X>Y>Y - Combo ends with a Lighting imbued uppercut.
- X[d]X>Y>Y- Combo that ends with a low Lighting slash followed by a overhead Lighting slash.
- X[d]>X>X>Y- Combo ends with Lighting overhead slash.
Lightsaber + Force Grip
- X>B - Quick push back combo that ends in a little Force Push explosion.
- X>X>B - Combo ends with a uppercut with Force Push added.
- X>X>X>B - Combo ends with him slamming his hand on the ground causing a a push back radius around him.
Lightsaber + Force Grip + Force Lighting
- X>Y>B - Combo ends with a Lighting imbued Lightsaber uppercut with Force Push added.
- X[d]X>Y>B - Combo ends with a low Lighting slash followed by him slamming his hand on the ground causing a a push back radius around him.
Air Combos
- X>X[H] - One hit air combo before dropping down hard and slamming his Lightsaber into the ground.
- X>X>X>X- Simple multi-hit air combo.
this combo can be interrupted with a lighting blast or a force push or can be ended by simply holding down the X button for the slam combo
Others
X near a downed enemy preforms an OTG impale.
X+A - Preforms a multi-hit throw.
RT + X + B - Preforms a Force Grip+Lightsaber Impale that end with a Force Push.
RT + Y, Release - Preforms Lightning Bomb, throw into multiple enemies for multiple kills.
Go into Options and turn Target Lock to Toggle and perhaps GRP Mode to Toggle as well. It seems to have helped people that were bothered by the Target and Force Grip mechanics.
The melee component will not feel underpowered when you play the full version of the game. Leveling gives you talent points to distribute into improving your Force powers or gaining passive talents that increase you Blaster Fire Projection/Absorption making it a lot easier to close the gap on enemies firing on you from a distance. Also note that the Rebel and Imperial enemies in the demo are only 2 of the 55-60 enemies types you’ll encounter in the full game, not all of which will have projectiles. There will be some really “in your face” type enemies that will be immune to different combinations of Lightsaber, Force Lighting and Force Push/Grip attacks forcing you to either fight a distance battle with Force powers using environmental objects as cover or projectiles or getting in close and owning them with your Lightsaber.
One-shotting your enemies would make the game way to easy with the talents and abilities I explained above. I do agree with you that it does not make sense canonically but LucasArts is clearly trying avoid the M rating that would come with the game if they added dismemberment. People bitch that the Jedi Knight games had dismemberment but those game were released 6 years ago, the ESRB rating system for games has really changed quite a bit since then.
The Guard is not really meant to be used against the blaster fire from some of the smaller enemies like the Rebel and Imperial’s you fight in the demo. Guard is meant to be used to block enemy Lightsaber attacks from some of the bosses and to guard against the big single shot projectiles some of the bigger enemies have like the AT-ST in the demo. Like I said above you wont have trouble dealing with pesky enemies blaster fire once you have talents to deal with them.
I would also like to note that game encourages you to mix up your combos which will net you more experience points that go towards leveling. There will also be secondary objectives for each level that involve trying to achieve the highest possible point count for that level so really mixing up your combos and using the environment to be as destructive as possible will really be rewarding.
I tried the demo, and I liked what I played. I wasn’t blown away by it, but I’d really have to devote more time to the game. I initially found Bioshock to be very disappointing, incidentally.
TIE Fighter remains the best Star Wars game ever.
Killing characters with one swipe would be yawn-fest. C’mon now. It’s all about basic things that would make or a break a game. Starting the game with “god-mode” is never a good idea, regardless of the game series.
What star wars game or fighting game has there been where when you cut your opponent with a weapon they die instantly? That would be pretty stale.
1 game, if I recall correctly. Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy. And yes, while “cool”, it does get extremely boring after 30 or so kills. Cool seeing limbs fly off, though.
Maybe it will change somewhat from the demo, who knows. Doesn’t bother me either way, although I don’t mind the way it is right now.
^ Jedi academy multiplayer on pc was the shit! definitely one of the most underrated fighting games ever.
Wasn’t really a fighting game, but yea I agree. Great fun. I’ma re-download it in a sec, thx to you. lol
