Shhhhh or RedLetterMedia will remind you the creators have not seen any of the Star Treks prior JJ’s movies.

Okay I just checked. The Outcast was the episode. So yeah this like the Disovery having the first black, first female lead situation. I give up :expressionless:

They sorta did with an alien race with 3 genders, and Riker feel in love with the planing looking asexual 3rd gender. The 3rd gender was also was heavily discriminated on their own home planet as their only place in society was to facilitate sexual reproduction between the male and female population.

And I got no idea how the fuck is that supposed to work. It was also a half ass way of doing it.

But then you also later got Jadzia Dax who carried a symbiont, named Dax and the symbiont was previously in a old man who Mentored Cisco. Hence why Cisco always called Jadzia old man despite she was a young woman. Dax also was apart of the first same gender kiss on national TV.

You are confusing The Outcast from TNG with The Cogenitor from Enterprise. In The Outcast, the was a race, that had “evolved” beyond having genders. They were all non binary. However there was small percentage of them 10% IIRC, that did have male or female gender traits. The member of the species Riker works is attracted to men and displays female traits. Having a gender is illegal on that world. Riker tries to get her asylum but then her people take her back home and have her “re-educated”. She comes back “fixed” with no feelings for Riker. She’s clearly mentally broken. It’s the way the classic Star Trek talked about issues. They didn’t do lazy nail on the head bullshit. They told a story that made you think.

The Cogenitor, and I’m not as familiar with it, because I wasn’t big into Enterprise. Was about a race that had three genders. Male, Female, and the Cogenitor. The third gender was treated like second class citizens. The doctor I think “Dr. Flox?” befriended a member of the third gender and was horrified by how they were treated. I think he tried to convince his friend to rebel. I’ve only watched Enterprise as series once, so I may be off slightly. I’m sure I got the doctor’s name wrong but you get the gist.

Jedzia is a pretty great character to.

Yeah I was bummed out when they killed her off for another Trill/Host

Terry Farrell didn’t want to do the last season of DS9, so they didn’t have a choice. Recasting would have been a worse idea.

Edit: IIRC they basically begged her to do the last season but she had a job lined up on a new sitcom, Becker from my recollection, and she didn’t want to give it up for a show with one season left.

Yeah and Becker was quickly forgotten about wasn’t it

Yep. I didn’t think it was wise choice either. But it’s her career.

Give up iconic role for a sitcom where you get tridary billing for a reoccurring supporting role with Ted Danson as the Lead. And Danson sucked in this too.

Best Buy had this for $8.

I liked the ideas that were in that movie. My biggest complaint was the attempt to shoehorn Cumberbatch’s character into relevance.

Becker was great.

Well it went for 129 episodes on CBS, so I guess you can call it successful

100 episodes means syndication. Syndication means the actors continue to get income from the show. So I guess she’s getting DS9 and Becker based syndication checks.
