Eh, for some reason Enterprise didn’t have the same pull on me as the other Trek series did.
My mom watched Voyager religiously. When Janeway was on her meds, things were pretty good. When she was off her meds, the episodes tend to see-saw heavily.
That one episode of Voyager, “Threshold” should be in its own category of most WTF episodes of Star Trek ever.
Yeah I didn’t enjoy Enterprise at first as well… I start it to appreciate it years later when I watched the last seasons.
That’s the problem with prequels… they start from the beggining and bore you with dumb simple plots that by the time it gets good you already gave up on the show. Well it’s not only prequels that does that but it sure feels like it.
I still remember watching the first episode of Enterprise with a couple of buddies. The theme song started and we all looked at each other with WTF expression on our face.
The music choice for Enterprise’s opening is a unorthodox one for Trek
Heh you just reminded me we used to parody sing that song…
DS9 was too much like Star Wars…
If anything, DS9 was aping Babylon 5. Both shows were very similarly structured plotwise.
DS9 got so shitty by the end.
It’s like they didn’t know where to go with the Prophets/Sisko plot from the start, and by the end everything was a mess they tried to fix up as conveniently as possible.
Then like so many shows that dry up creatively, everybody had to get married and shit.
So many episodes that weren’t necessary at all like ruining Morn/Kurn/Garak/Dukat, making Kira and Odo an item and killing Dax.
There’s so much I hated about the second half of DS9’s run, yet it’s still one of my favorite Star Trek shows overall, because what the show didn’t have in decent story telling, they had in character and dialogue writing in the first half of the show’s run.
war sisko was the best sisko. will fire bomb a whole family for the fucks of it. and comparing it to babylon 5 hurts but hella true.

I don’t like doing the comparison, because tonally, they take different lanes, but overall plot structures are too similar to ignore.
Ben Sisko and John J. Sheridan are two motherfuckers not to be messed with… One intentionally started a war and committed war crimes galore, the other caused a military coup to overthrow a corrupt Earth government and nuked an ancient alien city to stop an invasion.

One of my favorite moments, was when he snapped on the Maquis.
He poisoned an entire planets atmosphere. No punches pulled.

They didn’t want to kill Jadzia Dax. Terry Farrell didn’t want to comeback for season 7. They didn’t want to recast her character for the final season. Terry Farrell didn’t want to pass on a role in Becker for one more season of DS9.
Most of you suckas should try out Star Trek Online.
It’s not canon to the TV series (or film) universe, but full blessing of CBSi, the developers did a pretty good job of providing a shit ton of things to do and storylines to get involved with (as most missions play out like an episode of the TV series, along with Seasons).
Attempts to answer a fuckton of questions of what certain things happened in all the episodes (like who/what the hell Iconians are, whatever happened to the Romulans and Remans after their planets got blown to bits…), and yes, that includes visiting and messing around in places like Deep Space 9, getting dicked around by Q, and attempting to NOT be a bi-polar captain while spacing about in the Delta Quadrant.
Oh, and for being a free(mium) MMO, you can do a lot of crap without spending any cash, surprisingly enough. And if you have to? Just ask a friend to give you shit.
And before I go off sounding like Affinity (yech…), under CBSi the developers have been snagging a number of the actors to voice their respective characters in the game from whatever series they were a part of (don’t expect Patrick Stewart or William Shatner, though… they probably cost too damn much).
I like the prequel premise of enterprise because the characters had a nationalist view of the world they came from they had to evolve past to do well. The new series will be relevant to today’s society just like tng was relevant with speaking about ptsd with soldiers during the 90s.
I hope it’s just as allegorical as past st and not just flashy battles that the new movies only have.
bout to go deep sea youtube diving on some cardassian/dominion shit since i have no work tomarrow…wish me luck
Who’s watching this next week? I’m not a Trek fan but following the media around this has been a complete shitshow.
This will fail, and no one cares. Most people want to see what happens after the TNG, DS9, and Nemesis timeline… In the books, Janeway becomes an Admiral for example. Believe Kate Mulgrew is still alive. Don’t know if Admiral Patrick Stewart would reprise his role…
It will fail because people do care. From what I been seeing CBS wants to scrub the 50 year continuity of the series and wants to abandon the longterm fans for a new audience. It seems most Trek fans hopped on The Orvillle for their fix.
The advertising has been lackluster as fuck.
No hype for this at all.
Yeah definitely, I didn’t even know it was coming out next week…
