Standing 720 is still in, i managed to pull it off. No i can’t do unbuffered standing 720 in a match lol that is the technique waiting at the end of the path of learning zangief execution.
I’d love to see someone do it in SSF4. I tried over and over and couldn’t. I just don’t believe it ti’ll I see it as odd as that seems, lol.

i dont think it’s a pure st 720, u just buffered ur first 360 motion in the green hand stun and another 36o motion ouf of the stun.

Just managed to pull it off in super, it’s still possible.
I need to try this, every video I see that claims it’s happening it’s obviously someone buffering a 360 out of something’s recovery, walking forward/standing still, and then buffering the next 360. I don’t think the people watching the vids realize how big the window actually is. I just wanna see a vid of someone (not a CPU opponent, they cheat inputs anyway and usually don’t move at all even to crouch or flinch prior to the Ultra) just doing standing unbuffered 720.

My wrist hurts now though. I actually have to do this crosshanded with my right hand on the stick and left on the buttons, too slow with my left. lol
I even managed to pull this off with Hakan, but his is extremely difficult, I think he has less pre-jump frames than gief and hawk. Hawk and gief seem to have the same pre-jump frames, at least it feels that way. Yep, just looked, hawk and gief are 6. Hakan is 5, no wonder his is so damn hard.
I haven’t tried honda. His is 4 frames, seems impossible to get that and I’m not gonna bother trying the way my wrist feels after playing around with gief and hawk.
Does that mean Hawk can short jump?
No idea.
But apparently, on the level-up stream last night James Chen was explaining how that pad player was doing standing 720’s with gief. And the method he describes is kinda practical. He described it as:
:db::d::df::r:(hold :r: for a lil while):ub::l::db::d::df::r::lp::mp::hp:
So basically you start in crouch block, then roll to forward, he said you hold it there slightly, like taking a small step forward, then do a tiger knee motion into forward + :lp::mp::hp:.
I haven’t tried it this way myself, but it sounds a hell of a lot easier and getting a tiger knee within six frames doesn’t sound nearly as hard. He said a good time to use it is if gief has them cornered, to jump over them in the corner with a splash and crouch block wait for them to react then throw it out.
Seems like it can be somewhat useful if this motion isn’t too bad.

Ya, I’m not sure if the walk forward slightly is even necessary.
He wasn’t referring to Vance, at least I don’t think he was.
As far as the motion, the shortcuts only require you to hit Up once, you need to hit L, D, R 2 times.
At around 58:00 or 1:17:00 he starts to mention it I and explains it, I forgot which.

Are you doing 360 towards and then walk forward then 180 back? I can’t seem to get it down at all.
I thought the standing 720 was a trick where people knew a way to do an Ultra with no sort of buffering. The buffer 360 during a move, walk forward, 360 was known. I guess doing a 180 instead is news, but I always just did 412369 and now I only have to do 41236. Pretty cool I guess, but I thought everyone knew about hiding the first 360.
Is there no just straight 720 no buffer? Like Hugo in 3S? Does the 41236, 741236 thing Pasky posted work? It sounds like a true standing unbuffered 720, but I don’t have my stick to test it and won’t until the weekend.
