Lol @ DSP. What a terrible representative for “legitimate complaining”. Watching any of his SF4 matches is pretty clear indication that Phil has no clue what is supposed to happen in any game at any given time.
Anyway to answer the only real question of the last page, the online is pretty damn brilliant. It’s like a persistent world, almost MMO-ish. I don’[t even miss “true” multiplayer. Then again I haven’t played SSX since Tricky so I probably just forget what snowboarding multiplayer is even like shrug. I like the way it’s done, but you certainly need to put people on your friends list who also play it or you don’t get nearly the full effect. I think I’ve added about a dozen people which is more than I’ve added for online multiplayer since I stopped playing Tekken 6. Good times…
Corrected for truth. I’ve played On Tour, SSX3, Tricky and even a little with the first one, never had an issue with what I had with this new game. I’m repeating myself now with why it sucks balls, and since I traded the piece of shit in, I’m glad I could get some money back from it. And how can anyone be bad at this game, or any past SSX when it comes to doing the tricks? Nope, this new SSX is hyped up wackness.

If the controls are SO BAD, why am I, with the aforementioned little SSX experience, winning GEs and and setting gold explore times in races? Again, my only gripe with this game that happened to ruin my enjoyment was the looseness/sensitivity of steering the characters. Not gonna lie, I really want to get this game. I played the demo and loved the hell out of it, but with SFxT coming out tomorrow, I’m just not sure I can justify the purchase. $120 is a lot of money to spend on video games, at least for me.
I’ve been replaying SSX Tricky to satisfy my cravings until I can come to a decision. Tell me, how much of the old cast made it into SSX 2012? Is Brodi there? He was always my favorite.
The controls were a little difficult for me to get used to as well, but, once I got the hang of it I’m having a fucking blast playing this game! Some good advice I’ve taken from the Merqury City thread is to treat the controls sort of like a racing game, where you only need slight adjustments once you establish a line. Once you practice at it for a while things seem to move along more smoothly. Trust me, I’ve flown over the side of the mountain plenty of times, but if you stick with it it gets better, and becomes much more enjoyable. It just takes a little practice and learning the runs.
Katzenklavier - Of the 10 select-able riders, only 3 are new. Griff almost counts as a new character because now he’s grown up. Moby and Psymon are also radically redesigned. Zoe, Elise, Mac and Kaori are mostly in tact. Eddie is a pre order bonus and is just as goofy and stupid as I remember him but it may be your cup of tea. Looks like Allegra could make it in as DLC at some point.
chadouken - Yes, that. 1000x that. People complain of “oversteering” when really, they just need to think about the complaint a little bit and logic will tell them what to do. You’re like “FUCK THIS OVERSTEERING IS GETTING ME KILLED”…well, steer less. Going through caves and even splitting a bunch trees is really no problem once you learn the degree that you’re supposed to actually steer left and right in a given situation.
Again, don’t get your panties in a bunch because I didn’t like the game. Your only supporting argument is that you haven’t played SSX in over 10 years, and I keep saying the fuck does that have to do with why I didn’t like about this game. Moving back on topic, all I’ll say about this game is: I’m glad my brother bought this game instead of me. If I had bought it, I’d have returned it within 24 hours. Depending on how much I would get for it, I may have forgone the option of returning it and saved it for use as a coaster for beverages at home. Or as a fashionable stand for a trash can.
SSX3 is the only SSX for me. I’m not going to get in a pissing contest with a bunch of randoms over squat.
And on that note, I’m done with this thread. Call me when EA Big returns and remakes SSX3 with current gen graphics.
