SSX 2012

I said my problem with this game was how loose moving the characters were, could you get used to it/adapt? Yes, but to me, due to how the game was overall, it played like shit. Also I was annoyed by the rewind feature which I used more than I wanted to. I played other games that had the same feature and I never used the rewind, this game seemed heavily implemented on using the feature. I liked past SSX when you didn’t have worry about falling into pits, or having problems with lining the character up to features on the whim. That was it, I knew other people, both from the internet and IRL that also felt the same way or in other similar problems, so granted my issues with this game may or may not be the same for you or someone that might be interested in picking it up, but what I’m saying is at least demo it/red box before dropping 60 dollars on it because I found that the controls were iffy.

That’s all I really wanted to say before getting into a stupid bickering session with Soul “Mr. Hot head /I got a hair up my ass” Bushido

Yeah, I see absolutely no reason to buy this when I can still play SSX3 and likely have more fun.

Update: ITT retarded has become airborne and contagious via the internet. Fucking morons lol SMH.

This coming from the guy who openly admits he hasn’t played SSX3 and yet claims to understand the series. SSX3 has a quality of being able to just jump into the game and roam down the mountain with no real goal in mind, the fact that they are branching out to more areas is really cool, but they are lowering the single space that you can hang out in. SSX3 actually gave a little bit of the actual experience of being on a real hill where all of the runs have some sort of connection, it simply took real snowboarding and made it ridiculous as well. I feel like the other games have a little bit of this, but SSX3 is the only one that got it right. They are aiming more for the multiplayer and lots of cool different places angle, which I understand because games are all about Xbox live and achievement whoring now. Meanwhile what SSX3 gave is what I feel to be the ultimate in single player for this genre. If you think that this is retarded airborne contagion or whatever that’s cool. (but not really, that’s just sad)

Dude…stop.

Your own customized No True Scotsman fallacy? lol If you don’t understand why that’s stupid, I can’t help you. But my original point still stands regardless. What you’re saying about SSX3 is fine and dandy but that means 2012 is a coaster? Obvious troll is obvious.

As far as the Rewind feature goes, I hardly ever use it except on Deadly Descents and in Explore mode when I’m hunting/placing Geo-Tags. If you are trying to post a big score in Trick events or a decent time in Race events, forget about using Rewind- the point/time penalties are way too unforgiving. It’s better to restart the run. I really like the Geo-Tag feature. It allows me to explore different tracks at my leisure, letting me get familiar with the run before trying to post a score. It’s not quite a free-ride mode (which would have been nice), but if you go about it without the competitive mentality, just to learn the track and play the Geo-Tag game, it makes competing on familiar tracks in Global Events more rewarding. Plus, you can still collect credits by collecting the Tags. In this way, I feel the Rewind is very useful. Many times Geo-Tags don’t reveal themselves until after a huge jump, or if some dip shit placed them way down a crevasse or something- you can just rewind and try to grab that bitch, rewind again, and continue down the track. With over 150 drop points there is A LOT of content in this game, and spending a little time learning some of the drops without the pressure of the competitive edge will ultimately make you a better player in the long run. I don’t know, that’s just my two cents on Rewind.

I was kind of hoping this thread could be more discussion-based on the game, and not just personally thrashing everyone. I understand that everyone has an opinion, and I respect that for sure, but I don’t really think all this hostility is appropriate, and it bogs down the thread, yeah? If you don’t like the game, please, by all means explain why. And if you do like it, lets talk about what makes it awesome and not bash everyone who doesn’t like it. It’s just a video game.

Me too chad, me too…I came to this thread looking for rivals to add. What I found what just a bunch of ignorant trashing of the game. It’s hard to be civil with that kind of thing…anyway

On that note, I would add, for stuff like race tracks were there are a lot of hazards, (ie playing a race on a DD course directly) fine the best line and go down quickly but carefully. That way on subsequent runs you can follow your ghost down and avoid a lot of the bullshit people hate and just improve on speed.

Now that I’m back from FRXV, finally gonna sit down and play game a bit to see what you fuckers are bitching about.

Fyi, you’re jackasses if you thought it’d be greater than SSX 3. But from demo it’s easily better than Blur. And from an hour with actual game, it’s more enjoyable than On Tour. So by default it’s a solid.

If you bought SFxT or 80% of the easymode sequels this gen, you need to automatically shut the fuck up. Real talk.

Wow, I almost forgot about the atrocity that was SSX Blur. I literally erased it from my mind and forgot it ever existed. Someone had to bring it up.

Fuck that SRK WE DA BESS

Aside from a couple annoying glitches here and there, this game is fun as hell. For what SSX used to be, compared to what it turned into. It’s probably the best one overall. Needs less, treacherous, cheap death at every turn shit though. Even that, I found fun to some degree. Race and trick = solid.

shrug

imo it’s a combination of leveling up your character to the right level (if you go too high level and try some of the early races with like a level 10 legendary board you go so fast that stuff doesn’t line up and the jumps and rails end up smashing you into walls haha) and picking the most efficient line. try to ignore most of the jumps and on the ones you do take jump before the lip so that you go forward instead of up, this lets you build tricky meter without wasting time in the air unboosted

anyways i try to play this a few times a week, trying to finish all the runs in the explore side of things as well as level everyone up. so far i did level zoe up to 10 and i purchased 1 legendary board for her… shit was 2 mil… YUCK!

add me for more rivals! gt is highlulu on the 360

since ive gotten a reliable internet connection now ive been playing this game about 10 times more than i was doing just playing solo. not being able to compete with peoples times or go geotag hunting etc makes the game pretty boring as well. im kinda disappointed in some of the tracks as well, with all the pits and shit to fall down all the time does not make for a fun track. im sure i would play a lot more as well if i had a gold account. some of those prize pots for the global events look damn good!

atm im trying to add more people to my freinds list so i have some more competetion. ive pretty much smoked all of my freinds records on this game atm, and ive got a feeling they arent playing it anymore since i dont often get updates from them. if you want to add me my tag is mrfossy, or ill add you on my list, which ever is first really.

Ok so I’ve played & own ssx3,Ontour, Blur(Does NOT count), & now SSX 2012. I’m a huge fan of the series & I just wanna share pros & cons & why the new SSX is so damn great but so flawed.

ssx3- The reason many people liked this one the most is because it straight up let you do whatever the heck you wanted foreal, all the “levels” were strung into each other where you actually have to navigate to races/missions so it was like on some sandbox shit. ssx3 let you customize so damn much it was crazy, every character was truly different personality wise & in looks from the start, it DID really matter who you wanted to play as, & every character still had like a whole damn wardrobe. Really there is so much shit you could identify with in this game. There were cheats, secret/alternate characters like robots & shit, split-screen multiplayer, even violence you could smash other competitors in the face. The only thing wrong was that there wasn’t more levels cause this game was like crack.

On Tour- Now this is that re-up. This one to me is definitely just as good as ssx3, its almost the same really, was on the same engine & everything. This time you could ski if you wanted, skis were kinda sucky, but the sick thing about it is that there is yet again even more choice & unique experience. The mountain was all connected levels like before with the levels strung into each other. But what was really badass about this game though was that the mountain was populated with other noob boarders/skiers, & you got missions to punch down 20 for example. With that there was ski patrol tryna take you down, so now we runnin from cops in SSX… The customization is now on your own made character, but still there’s tons of choices for clothing n stuff. There were cheats still, unlockable/secret characters still, still split-screen & everything.

Blur was just for the wii since wii didn’t have trill games, but this didn’t work out too well anyway since its the wii. i lost this game actually & never beat it. I just remember that the levels were the ssx3 & ontour mountains combined, which I was pretty sad when i realized that. I also realized that this was a pretty hardcore game in the end after all cause landing tricks really wasn’t possible. Its like the game controls were designed for aliens or something.

SSX- Ok so I pretty much got this when it came out & this is a game with a bit of a learning curve. you’ll basically suck starting out since your equipment sucks, so you just gotta level up as you learn the game. Also, yeah, there are holes everywhere but its actually just like learning maps on COD, you have to learn a few certain levels to avoid their obstacles. If you dont put in the hours, your gonna suck, simple. The world tour is like non-existent, like someone else said before, its just a glorified tutorial for online. This game is just like every other classic series brought into the new gen. Theres no split-screen & this SSX is pretty much all about a half-assed online experience. Survive-it is kind of weak since your supposed to survive on default in any situation ever, they should of just made them expert tracks or something & brought back super-pipes & ramps… every character barely has a stat difference, & their customization are just a color change like characters in SSB. This has the best engine imo, but the actual tracks not tieing into one another made this game way sad since that was what everyone was expecting, a bigger ssx3. Regardless of all this, I can dig playing my lvl 11 Mac alone destroying random peoples trick-it scores, its just that it is going to get old pretty fast & it is.

OT did NOT have the same engine as SSX3. And how can 2012’s enginebe the best when it’s not as fluid or responsive, just way more simple and friendlier?

That being said, I still enjoyed 2012. I haven’t touched it in 3 weeks but I’ll play it again this weekend.

I assumed the engines were the same since the animations were alike & since whenever i landed on a rail upsidown it grinded the same in both games (a glitch?).

& i dont have a problem with unresponsiveness nor sensitivity. i think that might just be using low level boards.

btw anyone… Xlive–> Shade04rek

One more thing, it seems all hope isnt lost for more “classic elements” : http://www.merqurycity.com/

I absolutely loved this game at first.
Custom soundtrack = instant love from me.

I thought gameplay was great, SSX was never known as a realistic game and the 2012 incarnation shows that off beautifully
The characters sucked, not going to lie here. Even though I exclusively use Kaori, I think Moby & Mac were the only ones that seemed to actually look better.
And I thought the online was perfect, until less people started playing.

I place consistent platinum brackets and used to make phat credits.
Now I pay more to get into an event than I get out of my winnings.
Its not worth it anymore. Plus the Survive it events are not fun, at all. Though the finale of World Tour was pretty badass.

I still believe that On Tour is the Fuhrer of SSX games.
Still has yet to be topped.

Now that the trolls are under their bridges, I wanna ask something. Is Bif Naked voicing Zoe again? I’ve been scouring the internet for an actual confirm/deconfirm and I’ve got nothing. Every gameplay vid of her I found had bad audio or just not enough to be sure. I’m fairly sure it isn’t, but I would sleep better at night knowing for sure.

Can’t say that I know.

Fanpop says that it is indeed Bif, but I can’t find it on her IMBD page.
Not much, but its some info.
