SSFIV has killed my GAME! Noooooooooooo!

also, you cant do any throw invulnerable moves after the flash, if you see the the flash and you havent done anything to prevent being thrown before it you are getting grabbed.

It was marketed as a NEW SF game with characters from SFII. Part of the reason III wasn’t popular, was the change of characters.

I get it, you are mad it isn’t SFII in 3D. Its SFIV, learn how to play it that way.

Yes you still can srk jumpins, yes you still have to zone gief, and yes you still have to rush down sagat. You just have to do it differently.

I think it’s a well made game, but I loves me some ST/HDR over it no question.

My problem with SF4 and SSF4 isn’t that I think it’s a bad game, I think it’s fun to play, but that it has a bunch of wasted potential. A few easy tweaks (faster, make more moves safe, tweak the Ultra system) could make it more offensive and less a turtle fest. I play Honda in HDR, so I’m all for turtling, but SF4’s system promotes it in almost every match-up. I think you help fix that some and the game would really shine.

I know it’s a new game and is meant to played differently from SF2 (once I started looking at it as a completely new game that really didn’t have much to do with SF2, I had much more fun with it), but just to emphasize the turtling and making moves safer aspect:

Blanka’s Horizontal Rolling attack is not only unsafe against 99% of the cast on block, but it’s also unsafe against about 75% of the cast ON HIT. That means that in most situations i can’t even use it in combos without getting hit back! So basically, why even have the move? That one just really stands out to me.

Now you know how I feel about Ken’s tatsu in HDR (and to some extent in IV).:smile:

Actually ken’s ex tatsu gives him a great mixup on his oponent since it leaves him at like +2 or something like that. There is no comparison between IV’s tatsus and HDR tatsus. IV’s are better.

Blanka’s ball being that punishable has to be a really big glaring misprogram. Although if its still like that in Super, than they must have justified it!? Yeah, that’s just bad.

I wouldn’t mind being able to make specials safe, like making a ST srk safe by spacing and timing it properly. Fei for example can never really make his 3rd rekka safe, and his 2nd rekka has to spaced perfectly to be safe.

I don’t want stuff like honda torpedo, and boxer headbutt, where its great on hit or block.

Blanka’s ball being punishable on hit is really stupid. I couldn’t punish with fei’s hp rekka x 2? You sure it wasn’t changed in super?

I’m pretty sure it wasn’t changed, though to be honest 75% was probably to high and the ones that can punish on hit usually need meter to do it (Fei may be able to EX Rekka?). I know Ryu can only punish on hit with his super, but still, eating a Super as reward for doing a 5-hit combo just isn’t right, LOL.

Sim and Seth can punish on hit with simple fierce punch, I think abel can punish on hit with EX wheel kick, Chun can punish with her super (maybe Ultra? don’t remember), Balrog can punish on hit with Dash Punch I believe.

I will say that I have been having fun playing it, I won’t replace HDR by a longshot for me, but it makes a nice alternative.

Are the revisions made that good? I might mess around with that game if its gotten better, Vaniila SF:4 was not fun enough for me to want to stick with it or even bother to improve much…

This logic astounds me.

Other than the new characters they only slightly tweaked the other characters and slightly sped it up, it’s still the same engine and same basic gameplay. If you really didn’t like 4 you won’t like Super 4 that much better.

Damn… not the answer I wanted to hear… maybe I’ll wait for some other game to come out… I pray that KOF13 comes out soon because MvC3 can’t come out soon enough… love myself some ST and 3S but getting a bit burnt out lol…

Yeah, it pretty much plays the same. However, I’m finding most of the new characters to be a lot of fun to play. So, if you’re on the fence about the game I’d say give the game a shot. Just don’t expect drastic changes in the basic gameplay.

EDIT: About punishing blanka’s ball. That thing is weird. The hitbox rotates with him as he goes across the screen. The net effect is that sometimes he connects either deeper or more shallow depending on how rotated the box is. So, I know for example that if Gouken is standing and blocks the ball *sometimes *he can punish it with a reversal rush, but not always. So ya…it’s weird.

Eventhough SSF4 has some silly shit thats quite irritating its still a fun game, I just wish the Netcode wasnt so hit-or-miss despite it showing Green Bars in most my lag infested matches -_-"

I also agree that sf4/ssf4 is a worse game than hdr, for the most part.

A lot more people play ssf4 for though :confused:
