SSFIV Guy thread! Hyah!

i’d want all strengths of his shoulder attack to go through projectiles, but i can live with just EX shoulder. i don’t think he needs wall bounce, though. if guy can hit with any normal or special move after the wall bounce, i think that would make EX shoulder a little too good.

forward / medium kick hurricane needs to hit low like it did in A2.

i would love to see a juggle opportunity after EX bushin flip grab in the corner.

as for the rest of your suggestions, i don’t know if they’re going to happen. el fuerte doesn’t get any special things added to his follow ups after EX command run, so i don’t see why guy would get these privileges.

Seriously doubt guy will retain his string, they took away gen’s string combo.

I can see him playing somewhat like cammy, he’s got a move similar to hooligan but with better options.

I can see his super probably being his bushido fury - QCF,QCF+P super and his ultra being his rush combo, bushido rage - QCF,QCF+KKK which would work like chun li’s ultra that it goes through projectiles.

there buffing everyone up so furtes might get some who knows were gon ahave to wait and see

Pretty sure the rumor list said that Guy kept his chains.

i think guy will be one of the few people to be able to abuse the wall bounce. it could end up beling like the bushin chain juggle properties if he still has the chain.(to a lesser extent ofcourse)

They’ll probably make the check look slightly different as to avoid that and keep it as close as possible to the original design.

A2 guy didn’t suck, far from it. SFA Guy didn’t have A3 juggles and was good, A2 guy isn’t neither and is the worst of the three, but still was really good.

Guy is a cool toon to play, I am definitely excited for this one being added.

in comparison to the rest of the A2 cast, he was pretty shit sad to say, his jump was terrible, his AA wasn’t that great as it often traded or gets beaten clean, his wake up game was poor and he hasn’t got good normals for AA, he had ok range pokes though, his run-in mixups were more of a gimmick, they weren’t actually good at all, the overhead variation came out too slow and the slide is hella unsafe as hell, there was also empty run-in but with no real good options to follow it with. Run-in attempts usually end up with him getting interrupted and comboed, it is likely a run-in mixup attempt will result in you getting SRK>FADC>Ultraed.

What I hope they change is his massive airbourne time when he jumps.

Exactly.

OKay, perhaps “sucked” was a bit strong of a term, but he wasn’t good either. Saying shit like “with the right amount of effort he can be played well and he can win” is meaningless because that applies to every single goddamn character. SFA2 Guy was definitely the worst Guy. SFA3 Guy wasn’t spectacular, but he could do some really cool shit with juggles at least. SFA2 Guy doesn’t even have that.

The thing is, I’m sick of nerfed characters in SFIV. SFA2 Guy is a nerfed Guy, plain and simple, and unless they give him back his SFA1 chains (note: he’ll still be lousy if he only has his two chains from SFA2, neither of which were that useful there), he’s going to default to SFA2 behaviour in SFIV, i.e. the worst version of Guy. Maybe he’ll get some decent stuff with EX moves, but otherwise I fear he’s going to end up like Cammy, Fei Long or Gen: Characters who require a tremendous amount of work to get the same or worse results as other characters.

As I said, why start off like that, when you can take the awesome SFA1 Guy and just adjust him slightly. At worst, you’ll just make him S class with Sagat, which would be better than what we have right now.

Good list. My suggestions:

EX Bushin Izuna Drop: Flight invincible to projectiles; grab can grab crouching opponents; EX elbow drop should knock down. ALL versions should set up a juggle like in SFA2 (I would love if it was a free juggle setup like GOuken’s back throw, but I doubt we’d get that; they could consider it for the EX version though).

EX Hurricane Kick: Large invincible window on start up (SFA1 level) and hits 4 times like HK Hurricane Kick in SFA3.

EX Hozantou: Large full body invincibility on start up and wall bounce on hit. MP/HP versions should go through FBs. Also, I think it would nice if the regular versions did wall bounce on CH.

EX Bushin run: 1-hit armour.

I don’t see him having EX versions of his run follow ups, but we’ll see.

Cosine:

No, see, I think he should keep his massive jump since that was what helped make him unique. If he had his SFA1 chains, he wouldn’t need to take to the air anyway. With [EX] Bushin flip, EX run and Hozantou being invincible to projectiles he could potentially have some good options on the ground as well. I want the jumps to be more varied in SSFIV than they were in SFIV.

Ideally for this version of guy to have the strongest mix up game possible they should:

Have a hybrid A(Z)2/A(Z)3 guy as the foundation and combine this w/ CFJ guy’s tweaks regarding his combo-ability; particularly his running moves

They should keep the invulnerable frames of his Fierce Punch houzantou?(qcb+P) in A/Z3 and other moves that had such frames; maybe even add some invulnerability to the Strong Punch version

Recognize that A-ism guy’s particular Fierce Punch cancelling ability/glitch as a regular advanced aspect to his playing style that would make him more competitive for SSFIV

Following these suggestions imo would likely make having his A1 chains irrelavent for the most part, as he’d have enough options to work w/ here

RE Ultima.

i do see your point here

That was the fake list.

Like wall bounce?

I mean last i heard nothing was confirmed, but if so it’d make sense on someone like guy. Give him a way to have his A3 style juggles or at least a similar system.

yea i need to see some gameplay too
if he has his a2 chains then he should have low health

how do you know its fake
…i mean almost all of the stuff on the list has been confirmed

there was a list with most of the stuff confirmed and there was a list with things like arcade-only loke-tests months before release.

The stuff on the first list has been accurate: the characters revealed so far, 2 ultras, bonus stages, remixed SF2 music.

The 2nd list had a things like “Tandan Saving”, both ultras available at the same time, arcade exclusive first, etc. that have all been shown to be false. Also had all of the unlikely-sounding gameplay details like Rufus canceling out of his ultra and Zangief having a 720 ultra and an air 720 ultra at the same time.

I was going to say that I was surprised that no one seemed concerned about the possibility that Guy would be/will be too similar to El Fuerte…but then I remembered that Guy only has Kick Runs. He doesn’t have Punch Runs, right? I must be thinking of Maki–it’s too bad that Guy getting in dooms her to most likely not getting in.

wonders if people will find an infinite with Guy within the first week and laughs

So, I can’t say much more than the fact that I’ll give him a try like all the other characters (except for Sagat and probably Rufus) in SSF4. Oh, and if he gets his chains back, then Gen better get his back as well, even if Gen loses other stuff; hell, such thing seems like it’s dependent, thought wouldn’t be the first time a character with a similar system got screwed over…

Whoa…are people actually talking about wether he’s gonna be unbalanced or not?

Can I get a copy of the game?

Nice, this Guy is awesome. I gonna main this Guy again.
