SSFIV AE 2012 ALL character changes (FINAL )

Yep, too many Daigo dick riders unfortunately.

Not even just Daigo, i bet if all the players who win majors or are a threat to win majors switched characters and then continued to win majors/be a threat to win, too many people would immediately switch to those characters.

It has been a problem of “Why should I play E.Ryu when I can just play Ryu or Akuma?”

Sometimes viability doesn’t mean that a character isn’t playable but rather better results can be acheieved with less work elsewhere.

Btw is anyone compiling/keeping a list of changes that weren’t noted? I.e. the drop down after ex flip ex balls by Akuma?

Anyone notice anything else?

we have a winner folks!!!

and i feel this will continue even during ae 2012. even if yang ( my former main ) is vaible. why the fuck would i play him over ken who really doesn’t have any bad mu’s and severe weaknesses? if people think ae 2012 is going to be the skittle rainbow of street fighter 4, then be prepared to be disappointed. this game will more than likely not have a clear cut s tier, but i can bet my left nut that the characters with the least few bad mu’s will get ran more than someone like rose or dee jay.

Actually I’d disagree with the less work part. Whilst your brain’s going into over drive thinking about “If I safe jump this, +5 frames into Demon flip, OS sweep, reversal and press these 5 buttons at the same time…” an E.Ryu player probably has much less on his mind letting him concentrate on the task at hand. More option’s for you = more times to fuck up. It’s why I think that 80% of Akuma players I play are shit. They are too busy thinking about all their fancy options and set ups to concentrate on the task at hand. The -2 on the st.hk should clear out some dead wood, but then if Akuma is top tier you’ll probably pick up a whole lot more.

As for Ryu, well, I just think E.ryu is the better character. With the slight buffs to U2 and cr.mk Ryu should be good, but I still think Evil has better Ultra’s, slightly better footsie’s and better damage.

E.Ryu has had all the frustration of a low health character with half of the rewards and poor escape options to boot.

Half the rewards? The guy can send you up for 427 damage with out a lick of super bar. Low health is over rated, 900 isn’t what you’d call crippling, not with the damage/stun he dishes out. I’m not saying he’s as all mighty as Akuma, but he’s different enough to be attractive, and solid enough to be viable. I wouldn’t say having an ass teleport qualifies you for poor escape options, he’s got a 3 frame auto correct FADC DP.

2012 will be the year of dudley
our messiah marn has declared dudley to be top tier
therefore he will main dudley once again
i believe in marn please show him your support

as long as more characters have even 5-5 and 6-4’s across the board then it’ll be better. Either way, I miss sparring with your Ken, we had some good times…Looking forward to picking back up in 2012. You have a back-up for Ken? I’m practicing with Ryu/Rose/E.Ryu.

oh man, those were fun times man. me, you, cynistar was the trio of kens at that time.

but to get back on something relevant. yea, long as match up’s are a bit more fair then it should be better. but my point was that the character with the least amount of 6-4’s would be the most common pick at least in tournament play.

and yea, i have 2 backups for ken. mainly juri and yun.

when release the v2012 for PC?

You can quote high numbers all you want, but if you can’t land those numbers it is worthless. E.Ryu didn’t have any consistent way to land that against smart opponents.

DP is overrated. By now everyone has anti-DP set ups that keep pressure on. Hell with E.Ryu people didn’t even need to develop new ones, every set up from Ryu worked including unblockables.

Well we shall agree to disagree (although I’m not sure what i’m disagreeing on, other than everyone should just pick akuma because he has more “stuff”).

All I’m trying to get across is that he’s going to be a decent character with potential. Why would I pick him? because I like him.

I think someone’s jealous because their Demon don’t have fangs or red flames coming from their ripped up karate top…:nunchuck:

I am saying in AE E.Ryu wasn’t that good, but in 2012 he will be. The changes will make him much more viable.

Mago speaks truth.

Sagat is the most fun Street Fighter character.

So couldn’t you have just agreed with my whole point , instead of posing a question and squeezing in everyone’s favorite demon into the convo?

I said “has been” talking in past tense. E.Ryu’s problem has been that he didn’t really stand out when compared to his shoto peers, but now it feels like he is getting enough changes to make him good enough.

A few more v2012 impressions…

– The buff to Ryu’s FP Shoryuken is actually kind of nice for him. You have to respect his AA game…again.

– Yang is still solid, although he definitely feels the nerf bat harder than his brother. I don’t know if the Sei’ei Enbu c.mk dash combo/reset is still in the game, but if it isn’t I could see him dropping out of S-tier. He would still be good though.

– I think Cody is going to be a beast. He actually has footsies now. Good jump-ins, great frame-traps, once he gets started he can really apply the pressure. Better ways to cover his defense. And like Yun, he can just push buttons and good things will happen. Definitely a contender for top tier, at the very least high mid.

Maybe I’m a stream monster? I don’t really get a chance to go out to tournaments much, and I know I’m not going to win EVO or anything like that. I do enjoy playing the game though, which includes watching streams. Ever since AE and the dominance of YYF though, it’s been boring as fuck.

maybe. im just saying i could understand how people would feel that way if they know they wouldnt be able to make it out for whatever reason. maybe because they suck, like me at marvel, or they have too much real life going on or whatever.

point being that the players who are there prolly wouldnt give it as much thought unless they just really hated fighting mirrors at the top of the brackets
