SSFIV AE 2012 ALL character changes (FINAL )

It’s just casuals now but haven’t seen much yet/

Akuma EX flip to EX fireball drops him straight down.

Oh yeah its still going to be difficult because fei’s footsies are better than Ryu. It does help Ryu that overall Ryu will be putting out more damage on his commonly used moves while fei puts out less. Should even things out a bit.

Hidden changes because the devs are all “Enjoy finding out what changed on your own!” It was the same in the transition from SFIV -> SSFIV, I remember them using the line “We haven’t listed everything here, we want you to play and enjoy finding them on your own!” Meanwhile, we’re more interested in what changed and then seeing how these changes affect the overall game.

Speak for yourself, I enjoy figuring these things out for myself. I like the balance Capcom has achieved with change announcements, tell us the majority of them but leave a few nuances to still be figured out.

THawk gets a side of cardboard and a sharpie. Makoto’s “gets lost in the mail.” Dudley doesn’t even find out about the forms.

Some initial thoughts now that I have actually seen some of the changes.

-Viper is still Viper.

-Yang looks different, but doesn’t look bad as of right now

-Akuma’s EX Flip provides a corner combo option that does 20 more damage and the same stun as a FADC combo.

-E.Ryu is looking playable at a high level now

You can check out the 2012 stream right now.

daigo dropping akuma? playing cammy?

mago announces sagat

Evil Ryu was never that bad, he has good shoto basics that have always made him a decent character. Mr. Naps has done pretty well with him before so it doesn’t surprise me that he placed 2nd in this tourney. But all that aside, Evil Ryu has a number of mix ups, gimmicks, and new ways to land hard knockdowns that Naps wasn’t utilizing. So he’s definitely capable of more than even what Naps showed us.

I think he could be high mid in this edition, but people will probably won’t believe that since no one is bringing out his full potential. I hope Naps or somebody can show us some new stuff.

I’ve said numerous times on this thread E.Ryu is under rated. He has good footsie’s, nice zoning, does big damage, builds meter fast, has 2 great Ultra’s (some characters don’t have 1), has some nice un-techs with the Axe kick and a basic level mix up game.

I’ve started him as a side project, execution wise, he’s piss easy. With the buffs now, he’s well viable.

Looks like Mago has announced hes dropped Fei for Sagat, like i said i don’t think hes a viable character to play in a tournament anymore.

Hmm, seems like Daigo might be serious about Cammy. Interesting.

I think thats an exaggeration, but only time will tell.

Mago has said in the past that he just finds Sagat fun to play (more than Fei) because it matches his own personal style more. It’s not surprising that he’s switching back to Sagat, and I wouldn’t take it to mean much of anything regarding how good/bad Fei is in 2012. I think Mago always wanted to change back and this was as good an excuse as any.

I’m really scared of Kazunoko playing Seth. I think that character fits him very well.

I disagree, I think it is a matter of Sagat was already very strong and received no known nerfs, combined with the fact Mago already likes Sagat more than Fei.

I think for the first 2-3 months we will see A LOT of ship jumping off of Yun/Yang/Fei from high level SPONSORED players who only picked up the characters because they were simply above and beyond “the best.” However the top players who choose to stick with those 3, or the top players who return to them after experimenting are going to show that they are all still very viable.

Anyone know if Fuudo(Fei) or Nemo(Yang) are switching off their mains?

it says one thing. fei isnt as good as sagat in the new game. i think we all knew that before he said he was switching tho.

curious to see how he handles this tho. sagat still has legit bad matchups. there arent any more characters that win 99% on paper. are we gonna see most of the people that ran YYF playing 2 characters now to cover their bad matchups?

on a somewhat related note, i think i finally understand the whole, i want to see more character variety on my streams, stream monster mentality

i had my first taste of that feeling watching marvel. i was like yo, i wish somebody would play my character. tired of looking at wesker etc. then i was like, why do i feel that way? its because i suck at marvel, and i want to live vicariously thru someone elses talent. if it was sf4, i would just try and hit the lab and make it happen by my damn self. but im a complete marvel scrub, so i want someone else to do the work so i can spectate that shit. lol @ me and the stream monster spectate instead of play way of thinking.

oni will destroy everyone

Variety is the spice of life. I watched the Southtown AE2012 tournament today, nobody played Makoto while I watched, but I enjoyed it a lot more than most of the recent AE tournaments. I didn’t “live vicariously through them” I simply enjoyed seeing a larger spread of skills and matchups. While seeing how different players play the same characters (such as Ricky O. and Larry with Rufus) is fun, sometimes you just want to see someone different. Getting to see Bison, Cammy, Rufus, Cody, Vega, E. Ryu, Akuma, Yang, Sagat, Viper, Abel ect all showing up equally in a tournament leads to more interesting and varied gameplay and helps individual players stand out more.

Don’t you mean “he will grind beneath his heel… all that exists.”?

Agreed I like the skill part and the variety part. It was cool to see E.Ryu whereas you normally never see him.

More love in AE 2012 apparently for more characters? I doubt players will use characters that they know will universally suck in previous iterations, because God knows how first impression do stick** EVEN IF THEY DO CHANGE FOR THE BETTER**. For those that do discover and experiment with the variety of characters, kudos to them but I do wish people will do more to expand from their main. What I essentailly list down there doesn’t count as much because i keep fooling with one and switching with the others, ever since late in AE’s life cycle and I am trying to play T.Hawk at the moment and I can tell you, I became the AVGN for all my frustrating losses, but I try to learn the character and mentality that may help me fight against this character. Not only that but if I do body someone, I feel relieved and prepared for more and more losses…

People are going to mainly play whoever the top people play.

If Daigo picks up t.hawk and wins thousands will pick up t.hawk and xcopy.

Good thing he finds grapplers boring.
