SSF4AE Version 2012 Changes . Ryu Ed

So let’s recapitulate all the change between his super and ae 2012 version :

Buff :

  • Standing mp cancelable
  • Close mk damage up (70-80)
  • Close standing hard kick frame advantage increased
  • Hadouken damage up (60->70)
  • 5 frame invincible mp dp
  • 4 frame invincible hp dp with 1 hit and increased damage (160 damage on first active frame, 60 after)
  • ex tatsu (almost) never whiff last hit
  • counter hit ex-hadoken property changed (need to test to say more about it)
  • U2 vertical hit box increased

Nerf :

  • Hp dp not focus cancelable
  • Air hurricane kick brake
  • Crouching medium kick hurtbox increased (need to test to say more about it)
  • Solar plexus damage decreased (4080 -> 4060)

In my point of view the overall character seems better than his super version (however that can be balanced by other cast buff).
I won’t complain about hit, however why did Capcom destroyed the character in the first place if they do that after ?

Ryu does NOT have his Vanilla or Super-cr.mk back, right?

correct. He has a bastardised version of both the vanilla and AE version of the c.mk. Frame data from Vanilla + hit/hurt boxes from AE = c.mk for AE 2012.

All honesty he didnt need the sweep. That was just more added crap to him. It’s good but that shouldnt be considered a major nerf. I see him being top still.

Disappointing change for sure, but yeah, I don’t think it’ll shake him from his high-tier perch.

If you are asking what not being able to Focus the HP DP means, it means that you cannot use a Focus Attack (Followed with a dash, normally) to stop the animation of the Heavy Punch Shoryuken. The other two versions of the Shoryuken do maintain their properties, though.

Now, that kind of cancel will be impossible if you are using the Heavy Punch Shoryuken.

what?? is this even real?? how is it possible if they do this? everyone uses HP SRK to fadc ultra!! why do they nerf this? is there a bug or something? so now we must use LP SRK to fadc? is this considered a bad news??

I’m not even sure you can properly comprehend what everyone has said. Yes, it is real; we have capcom themselves saying this. All they have to do is adjust some options and send out a match to make this not possible. They nerfed it because this would significantly increase the DMG of DP - FADC - ULTRA from Vanilla. They don’t want such a powerful ryu for some reason, and only had the dp damage increase against anti-airs. You could choose to use LP or MP. It’s not bad news considering that all the buffs given to Ryu (CMK restoration, +10 dmg on fireball, etc) heavily outweigh this. The DP itself has gotten better, so it’s probably just considered a restriction and not even a nerf.

The big item of the Ryu debuts is his FP SRK and I wanna know who gave back the “feedback” to Capcom at the tests to say that his FP should be non fadc and non super cancelable. Is it non-ryu players being salty at the test sessions and being dicks and trying to get they characters buffs better and trying to fix they bad match up with Ryu.

I understand to change it back to 1 hit and ever Non-super cancelable is fine by me but so many of my ultra 1 setups end with a fp srk fadc. Plus trying to change it to mp.srk fucks up my muscle memory!

Ive work so hard on stuff like c.mp, c.hp, (hp) srk , FADC, Ultra or Sps, c.hp, srk Fadc Ultra and now I have to relearn the timing
for meningless improvment. Why dont they reverse Mp and HP srk fucntion and make mp unFADACABLE

I dont know who Capcom consult, but No 1 Ryu of all time said change dont make sense… It feel irresponsable the way
they are doing the change if they cant consult the authority on certain character.

the thing is,the community has to voice out this change,it’s totally unnecessary to take away HP SRK FADC.

Who care about that hp dp seriously ? in 99% of the case lp dp will replace it, is it so hard to switch from a button to another lol ?

Exactly what you said, which reinforces even more the idea that taking out HP Dragon Punch was a pointless move by Capcom. There was no need for them to do something like that.

Besides, the muscle memory gets spoiled which makes it slightly annoying.

I cant believe on all that crying from the guys over here, if they have changed the HP dp’s damage to 900 you would still be crying about the lack of FADC.

HP dp’s new properties is a good buff overall. Theres only a couple of combos that you wont be able to do because MP dp’s range wont be enough, but you will get a lot of extra damage every time you land a HP dp into a jumpin or into anything.

Are you kidding ? i think you were pretty much the only one, and it’s not like you have to relearn a link timing but just to switch from hp to lp or mp, and don’t speak about disrespect for nothing please it’s not like i said any insult disparaging

Ive fallen in the ‘crying’ trap. Tired of commenting small changes. Nothing to do just need to adapt
and learn Ryu 2012 for better and worse.

It’s not that bad guys. I look at it like this. In one round you can reasonably land two hadoukens and at least one deep HP shoryuken.That alone is plus 50 damage from what he could do in super and in AE. Keep in mind that these buffs are actually relevant to his game play especially the two i previously mentioned. Also keep in mind that afer a CH ex fb we can follow up with an attack. Bottom line is that Ryu in 2012 will output more damage in areas where he did damage in anyways.

Am I wrong?
