Well I got my first real hate mail in a while now.
I ran into a pretty lack luster Dudley player on Ranked this morning and, while not exactly handling him, managed to beat him with my Sagat.
After the match I found this in my inbox:
“Quit camping. Makes you look like a moron who can’t win fairly.”
(While I appreciate the proper grammar and punctuation, I’m not too fond of being called a camping moron)
I went right into troll mode and just replied with:
“You Mad?”
(I wanted to reciprocate with proper grammar and punctuation as well)
He then replied with the following:
“Hell yeah. LLLRQQRLLLLLLKKKKSSTTTTTLKJOMGWTFBBQ”
Which I followed up with the usual, l2p. That didn’t sit well with him and he fired back with this:
“I’ve been playing SF since first. I’d recommend not camping. It only leads to avoids. Also, lrn2ply Sagat.”
(Odd, seeing as I beat him and I’ve not found too many people that give advice after losing)
I replied with “You still talking to me?” Which must have gotten his goat cause he dared to reply with this:
“Git lost. I could beat your arse with DAN.”
Now, I’m not one to deny a challenge, so I asked him if he could back that statement up to which he replied with a simple “Yeah, I can.”
So… I invited him to an Endless Lobby where I preceded to beat him in 4 straight games without losing a single round, including a thrashing from Dan as well. Then, I felt like giving him a chance so I went with random, only to find that he had gone back on his promise and instead took Cody. He managed to beat me (with T.Hawk who I’ve NEVER played with before) this time, after losing a round and being dropped to a quarter of his health no less.
After that I went to no mercy mode and took another easy game 2 rounds to nothing, including a whooping with my Adon against his Sagat.
For whatever reason, this is what he messaged me after I kicked him from the lobby and went on my way:
“See? You suck with Sagat. If you don’t camp, you have aless chance of beating anyone.”
(I can’t honestly comprehend what the hell this even means)
Though he kind of made up for it with this:
“Luck is non-existant. Skill and cheap tactics win here. Though I must say, you have an awesome Adon.”

You know, ive come to realize that a lot of people here play this game (and other online fg’s) for a totatly different reason than I do, or even thought they did. Most of you seem to play this so you can grief people. A lot of you seem to get off on that shit. It just makes most of you seem like dick heads. This thread and the “rage quitters” thread just seem like they are full of players that just want to…grief other people.
I think thats why I like to play people in person.
I got griefed last night. I played some guy and he picked Sim the first match. I was already disheartend because I only play Dudley and Duds vs. Sim is a terrible match imo. Anyhow, I know the match up pretty good and I ended up beating him. So the next match he picks Fei and beats the snot out of me. The next match guess who he picks? Yeah, Dudley. Now, I know why the guy picked dudley, to “teach” me how to play with dudley. You know, he was probably thinking this guys dudley sucks im gonna show him how to play dudley. So I just sat there tossing rosses and let him “teach” me how to play dudley. He sucked, I beat him almost all the way the first round then just stoped and let him beat me while I threw rosses out.
He sent me some message, calling me some kinda scrub, that I didnt read till a couple hours later but I sent him a message saying that he shouldnt have been a dick and try to mirror me just to try and make me mad. I told him I enjoyed playing his fei, even though I got wooped. I also told him that I am a scrub but this scrub beat your sim, so im happy about that at least.
I guess I just have my morals (that the word im lookin for?) when it comes to playing this game or any other fighting game. I dont like to make anyone mad, I want everyone I play to have a good time. So I refrain from taunting -I throw roses with duds but thats always for a reason, not to accutally tuant- or takin’ advantage of a scrub that cant tech throws so good. I’ll try to help someone get better at teching throws instead of constantly beating them by throws and making them mad. I just dont get a thrill out of griefing I guess.
You’re basing this on confirmation bias.
If you’re only using this thread and the ragequitters thread as proof of how everyone plays on SRK then you’re not seeing the full picture. I would wager than all the people who post in this or the other thread only grief someone who’s gone out of their way to either point out the fact that they are an annoying jerk or because they themselves are being griefed by the same person.
I’ve never played with the intentions of trying to make someone angry or quit, quite the opposite in fact. I can’t have fun if people are constantly quitting games and just standing around not playing. I’m sorry if you can’t beat my play style, that’s just more incentive for you to train harder. Just the same, if someone proves to be a difficult opponent I don’t quit playing them, I play better and try to adapt to their style.
dirzzt360, you’re standing on this pedestal like you know you’re somehow better than us because you have “morals” about the way you play a game. The bottom line is, it’s just a game, if someone can’t handle the way you play or how you act, that’s THEY’RE fault. The fighting game scene isn’t about holding hands and being bff’s with all your opponents, it’s about having fun, however that may be.
i get seriously mind gamed by someone picking my main after ive been playing them for ages (whether ive been winning or losing), as post above it makes me really angry and i know it shouldnt. fuks me right up and i almost always lose and look like an idiot. big weakness.
I played this morning against a Ken. He would do unsafe supers and i’d just throw him. I end up winning both rounds and he sends me this message

I like it when people mirror me with adon. This is due to the fact that even though adon is my main i just cant fight against him for some reason i really do struggle so i enjoy the practice. Does piss me off though when you know there doing it to try and show you up.
Ampatent - Yeah, it just seems like most of you get your fun by griefing. If that wasnt the case there wouldnt be a thread like this and there wouldnt be like 1500 replies. I lot of you enjoy and get off on griefing people in this game. All these posts just make me think that…
AlzPatz - I dont mind mirror matches, I dont like blanka mirror matches, but when a prick does it just to grief its not fun. Mirror matches are good, you can learn a lot playing them.

But with a difference. I was just trying to get a point accross. I wasnt entertained by the mesasge he sent me and I wasnt entertained by the message I sent him. I didnt try to flame him or entice an argument with him. In fact I told him I enjoyed getting beat by his fei and it made me happy that I was able to beat his sim. I would have played the guy more, even if it was his fei and he beat me 20 times in a row. But he was trying to be jerk, just like most of you guys. And if you say that people arent trying to be jerks then you havent read any of these posts.
I rarely respond to hate mail, but last night I felt I needed to explain to the guy why I stoped playing, stoped caring.

edit - now im not saying that all of you that post in this thread or that other one are jerks. You just become jerks when you play fg’s online. Kind of like an internet troll. That person could be the nicest person you have ever known but get him on an internet forum like srk and he becomes a troll.
Just seems stupid to me how you come into a thread where people are sharing their stories about dumb messages people have sent them (as this is the entire point of this thread). Then proceed to post your own story ok so you kept your cool in your msg (respect) then basically moan that everyone here doesnt have morals because they do it differantly.
If you actually read most of the posts on here you will see there is a very limited number of people that have posted on here where they have been a douche to their opponent first then got a salty reply.
And really talking about morals on a fg forum just seems wrong to begin with.
This is called confirmation bias, you’re basing your opinion solely on what’s in this thread rather than considering everything that goes on outside of it. We aren’t TRYING to be jerks to people because we want to, we are being jerks because of the way people are acting toward us.
Even then, I wouldn’t call any of the stuff that goes on in this thread something a jerk would do anyway.
dirzzt, I hear you man, Unfortunately for some people Street Fighter success is all, and I mean all they have going for them. Not good at anything else in life so they gotta have some outlet for their RL weakness. Getting a hate message (as this thread proves) gives these kids nerdgasms more than any woman (lol @ these guys with women not in .avi form 
) ever could. I understand exactly what you mean in terms of explaining yourself and why you responded to certain mail.
Some people love to be (or can only be) jerks online (not talking taunts) since there’s no chance they might get in a physical altercation.
Shit I get griefed every now and then but oh well… usually that win is ‘it’ for them. To them it’s their sex/drug/real life fight that they couldn’t see in reality… might as well let 'em have their 'time to shine so to speak

No, im also basing it on having played a number of jerks/griefers online but having never encounterd one during offline play. Hence me prefering offline play to online play.
And of course you wouldnt consider the stuff people do in this thread jerkish. You’re one of them…

I thought about that, but no, he was trying to grief me. So I let him have his ego trip, and let him win. Because I figured it would make him feel good about himself. I mean, really thats why I stoped and just tossed rosses. And I wasnt surprised by his message and thats why I sent him a message explaining myself. He never responded to it.
I had forgotten about that guy till I came inside and fired up Fallout 3 and noticed his message. And so the guy wasnt grumpy with my I sent him a message trying to explain my acctions. Had I been like one of you guys I would have simply sent him a message saying “you mad” or “you salty” just for the purpose of getting him to respond to it, even more upset than he was before.
Not hated on at all its ok if you play to lose and us “kids” actually try at the game.
