SSF4 Rose: Buffs & Nerfs

Yeah, I knew it, reflect indeed buffs u2, that AA combo I mentioned did just too much damage =D

Want data on that. Does it increase up to 7 intervals like the projectiles or what, how much damage goes up, if any other properties are gained (like if the ultra lasts longer)?

well ya don’t know me… but i play a good rose and use her in tournament. in vanilla cr mk to ex soulball as i call it lol into ultra 1 had to be at a certain distance. in ssf4 you can basically do it anywhere and it will count. i’m guessin her ex fireball has more stun than usual.

if im not wrong,it increases up to 7 intervals, and each interval goes 4 damage up. Not too much… :frowning:

also, only one of the two balls is powered, the other one do not get powered at all.

It seems that her sparks have less recovery… and/or maybe her Ultra 1 has a quicker start up.

yeah, EX Spark FADC Ultra I works. The time window to combo it is a bit strict, but completely doable.

also, LP Spark/EX Spark FADC Ultra II works too, but the time window to combo it is way more strict.

It already did in Vanilla.
But I wonder if it works now without FADC…

believe me, now it is a LOT different. It is completely practicable.

Aha, I knew they had to have done something for that ultra. This also explains the decrease in EX spark’s damage.

it seems that, currently, the most damaging combo for Rose would be:

j HK, cr HP xx LP SSpark, FADC, cr HP xx LP SSpark, FADC, Ultra II, cr HP, SSpiral = 572 damage.

very strick, but perfectly doable for those Rose beasties (not me, i cant even SSpark FADC into ultra :P)

also, being both Ultras comboable after FADC an EX SSpark, now as you probably know Rose can hit confirm both her ultras!!

I think IS comes out faster which allows it to combo more readily off of EX Spark. Cross up, c.hp, ex spark, FADC, IS does 538 and works any and everywhere. 3 bars only of course but yeah…
Satellite is good for guranteed easy damage. Especially in FADC spark combos and for whiff punishes. The big damage comes in the corner.

A quick easy hit confirm mixup on wakeups is c.lk, c.lp, HP Reflect, FADC, Satellite, Dash again (orbs hit) Jab Soul Throw. Only does 334 but decent and easily hit confirmable.

Another thing I think is pretty funny is that they took away Ryus ability to Super with a FB still on the screen but Rose can still do it :smiley:

MP Reflect is juggalble as well with Satellite/Soul Throw. Corner only tho.

Didn’t they mention that the level 2 focus attacks come out quicker. Maybe that’s why its easier to land the focus attack after the ex SS.

No it wont work after a crossup. Doesnt seem any reflect combo will work off of crossup but spark FADC is good enough for comboing into Satellite. 400 damage with crossup, c.mp, spark, FADC, slide, c.mp, spiral.

Something ive noticed about Sateliite is that if you activate it on one side and manage to get to the other side of your opponent, when the orbs hit (blocked or not) it will pull them towards you. This shit will probably be patched in the future.

Well you know, they probably forgot to do that. If she was popular as Ryu, perhaps that would have been done.

The reason I don’t play rose in SF4 is because she was a boring, limited and basic character.

Combo off HP reflect is the mother of all gimmicks. Not only you need to land a cl.hp, but you can’t hitconfirm it and it only hits in close range so the only reasonable setup for it would be after a crossup and nothing else. If it recovered as fast as it did in A2 it would be useful because goddamn that shit recovered fast. The new ultra seems okay but it’s just an ultra, not her main game. Overall I think she’ll be just as boring vs people who know her gimmicks. Playing her feels like playing a prototype after A2 or even A3 rose.

How could she be just as boring with her new U2? Yes, it IS just an Ultra, but do you understand how diverse it is for an Ultra? But anyway, whether you find a character boring is entirely your opinion, because I completely disagree. All it seems like you’re saying is you are not playing Rose because SFIV Rose isn’t as good as Alpha Rose.

We don’t know how good she is yet. U2 and a comboable Soul Throw changes everything. She has a legit reason to rushdown now.

SIDENOTE: I personally feel that she now plays better than A2 Rose. (Excluding Custom Combos and her Illusion super)

From what I have played so far, it seems like Super Street Fighter IV Rose might be better than Street Fighter Alpha 3 Rose. If you look at the tiers for each game, Street Fighter Alpha 2 Rose was top tier while Street Fighter Alpha 3 Rose was lower mid tier, I believe.

I’m not sure where Rose will end up now in Super Street Fighter IV, but it certainly has to be better than what we all had to put up with for the last year in regular Street Fighter IV. That was by far the worst incarnation of Rose I have ever seen excluding Capcom Fighting Evolution.
