I couldn’t really say I noticed any change for SS when I played her too. Don’t get happy about it, for the best case scenario, it sucks a bit less.
Soul Throw does even more damage than her regular throws now? I was hoping it would be a little easier to combo into it, but at least it’s possible, I guess. I’m sad about Soul Piede and cr.LP. I don’t see much point in Piede without its reach, I just don’t think it would feel safe enough, but if everyone else is nerfed maybe cr.LP won’t play any different?
So is timing on Soul Reflect is less strict? I hate when I’m a bit too late, or early.
I hardly used piede anyway outside of the Gief matchup. Not a big deal IMO. Reflects are good :).
woah what’s this about nerfed c.lp?
Wait, I was wrong, Sparks are considerable better!
Dev blog didn’t lied, the anim is as length as before so when doing when trials I didn’t notice the buff: you can “cancel” the animation when she’s taking her scarf back! It’s kinda like Ryu “canceling” ex tatsumaki even though it looks like he doesn’t have control yet.
So, LP SS recover is improved but only a little, you get the control back only on the last frames so I would guess 5 frames faster, but SP recovery is as good as we could ask, it’s almost ugly to see her walking back instead of putting the scarf back on her neck. Please try it whenever you can, you’ll be pleased. Faster SS + U2 -> ST zoning is awesome.
Other than that, yes, got to do a lot of U2 combos today, midscreen (those that Kail posted, FADC Spark/Reflect) and corner specific. Damage from those are decent, specially considering it also does stun damage and fills gauge.
More things I noticed, take with a grain of salt blablabla:
*LK Spiral may have faster startup, it hit Ryu after a c.mp in range where it usually wouldn’t.
*LP Reflect may buff U2 damage too. A single orb + ST did a lot of damage on *Chun (*Edited, was Guy before because I played alot against him today, stupid little me) , around 30% I think…
“SP recovery”?
Pretty good news all around. I didn’t use F+HK that much anyways, not cr.LP either.
Strong Punch. I’m not that used to srk vocabulary, I was talking about fierce spark there.
The news about the Piede sucks ass, I used to use that in all types of matchups situations. Damn it. Is the range smaller or the speed slower? Both?
I could care less about HP reflect launching, but does it at least have a bigger hitbox for it to be useful? Better recovery on block?
Yay for Sparks being faster on recovery though, and its great no changes was made to sc.mk. No info on Illusion Spark activating faster or s.mk crushing lows better(or airborn properties I hope)? Crosses fingers for a better hit box on s.fp.
Really disappointed in this news. I was hoping that we’d get some new tricks, but all I’ve heard so far are Ultra2 combos and Reflect FADC Soul Throw, which I don’t even know if it’s worth the 2 bars.
So, other than pulling off one Ultra2 combo, the rest of the match is going to play exactly the same as vanilla SF4?
Where’s the good news?
Well a lot of hit box changes prob happened so things we couldnt do before we may now able to do. Im gonna give it time to figure it all out.
Thanks for all the info!
Can you test if U2 scales with # of projectiles absorbed?
Do reflects work on Cody’s Knife and Ibuki’s Kunais?
Can you combo c. mp into HP Reflect now?
What is the dmg of cr. HP > HP. Reflect > (FADC) > U2?
Soul Piede is nerfed range wise, speed is the same.
HP Reflect seems to have almos the same hitboxes, you have to perform it very close to connect. No cr MP, HP Reflect is possible, but cr HP, HP Reflect is a nice combo and now you can choose between following cr HP with a Spiral or a Reflect depending on the situation. Quite useful option after a successfully landed crossup j MK, i think…
Dont know yet about it recovery on block…
Illusion Spark, st MK, and st HP seems to be the same as vanilla.
ill tell you later, i cant test right now

Check out these U2 combos. c. hp > hp reflect > U2 > Soul Throw was pretty much my dream combo and I’m glad it’s a reality
Those combos do great damage. Rose has combos now! AHMIGAD
THERE IS NO GOOD NEWS EVER, ROSE GOES TO HELL AERIS DIES GEN HAS AIDS CAPCOM HATES ALL OF US FOREVERVEVEREVEREVEREVERER I’M DEPRESSED
U2 damage increases when absorbing projectiles, but just marginally (the first orb inflicts 168 damage instead 140 when fully “charged”. Second orb doesnt inflict more damage at all).
Reflect doesnt work on knife nor kunais, but you can stop both with just a normal attack (although it seems to be difficult).
you cant combo cr MP, HP Reflect.
the damage for cr HP, HP Reflect, U2 is 318. If you add a Soul Throw to the ecuation you get 414.
Do you mean you lp reflect a projectile while the orbs are out to power them up?
While the orbs are out if a projectile comes at you and you reflectbit could it still touch and get rid of an orb?
How well does piede fare against lariat in Super? it was nice to beat it so cleanly in vanilla, has its priority changed at all or do we just need to walk a little bit closer to punish lariat now?
you can power up just one of the two orbs, and you can power it up both before and after activating ultra.
you can reflect/absorb projectiles after activating ultra, but the projectiles can also touch the orbs and break it while trying to reflect/absorb.
overall, new Soul Piede trades more than vanilla one. You can stuff lariat easily with it if Zangief do not move forwards while performing Lariat; if he move forwards, you will probably trade because of the Piede nerfed range. But now is way better to use cr HP to beat lariat, it stuff it clean from a quite safe distance, and deals the same damage as Piede. I think cr HP hitboxes have been improved, but this is just especulation…
