What do you mean her punch super doesn’t combo? Do you mean in 3S or in SSF4?

If you mean SSF4, then I really wonder if she’ll get any chance to even combo into her 2nd Ultra at all as well…

I’m really feeling her character portrait in SSFIV, looks just like the one in 3S. Hopefully her model looks a lot more like it, because she does not look good in that screenshot.

Shortcuts causing her SRK punch to come out instead of a Hayate :lame:

with a super you can do a lot more damage than that.

I believe Makoto will still be a fun character in Super regardless. With all of these offensive style characters Super will definitely not be the bore fest than Vanilla was.

Life would be much easier if every SF4 player was as willing to waste meter as much as you do :rofl:

I kind of agree that she probably will have a hard time against characters that base their games of wake up options. I can see blanka, elf, ryu, and maybe gief poseing a problem. but she is still hella GDLK about to pay off SSFIV completely tomorrow…but then again we havent seen her foucus yet???

Someone above me made a good point, though, Makoto’s main weakness is going to be her lack of viable wakeup options, hopefully that won’t cripple her. But it didn’t in SF3, so hopefully it won’t here as well

Man, I can see Makoto’s red bra in that screenshot. They should’ve given Makoto the alternate costume that Juri has.

i have a feeling makoto is going to be the same way, probably with a bit higher risk and a higher reward than abel, but with even less options on the knockdown. which’ll be fine, and suit her style. besides, BIG SOVIET DAMAGE real talk

Hopefully they’ll give her a gdlk backdash (along with her normal dash). But true, lack of wake up options is bad in sf4, more so than in 3s.

As long as Makoto has her buff ass normals from 3S she’ll be fine. One of Abel’s glaring issues is that he has shit footsies so he’s effectively a weak Makoto as it is.

If they keep Makoto’s forward dash the same they are not giving her a good backdash. That would be broken. :lol: Her backdash in 3rd Strike was absolute balls because her forward dash raped basically. Her walk speed was literally the slowest of any SF character also.

Though in general SFIV is just one of those kinda of games where characters are built to have holes. I mean even the kind of SFIV Sagat is reduced to basically being countered by Claw now at the highest level of Japanese SFIV. They’ve found a way to make the king of reversals (well…next to Ryu) just completely die to cross up izuna traps. Sure Makoto is going to have her issues with wake up games but so did Chun Li and Chun Li is only a few buffs away from being top tier herself. Just give Makoto strong footsies like she had in 3S and it’s a wrap for the fat man.

That’s like saying the tortoise is slower than the turtle. :lol: Q was another character that didn’t need a quick walk speed. His dash punch was literally the fastest of any SF character ever.

Yea, she’s gonna be a real glass cannon alright, especially if you can do a super juggle into Ultra like someone above was saying. I’m personally glad Tanden Renki is the super, you can use it as an ultra damage booster to completely fuck someone up. But with Makoto it’s going to be a difficult choice in doing that, her EX moves factored heavily into her gameplay in SF3 between the Hayates, ax-kicks, and karate chops, so in the long run it may be better for her to conserve meter

I’ve been thinking, now lets get some REAL theory fighting going here.

At the most, I’ve seen Makoto do 8 hit combos that, still, end with a stun. Now, even if they don’t stun in SSF4, thats still an eight hit combo, with the first few hits doing a bunch of damage.

Even then, she has some 4 hit combos that do a massive amount of damage as well. Damage scaling may hurt her, but really only time will tell. The fact that she also has resets will also play into how damage scaling affects her. I think she’ll end up playing alot like Abel in SSF4.

I don’t see the problem with just blocking on wakeup with her. With abel, on wakeup if he blocks then he gets pushed away and then he will have to try to work his way back in. Makoto never had any trouble getting in but that may change in SSF4.
