LMAO, I think the honda comparison has to do with having no specials that go though fireballs so getting in against those character is most of the work. The way it was worded sounds ridiculous though haha.

^ not only that the fact that they both want to get close to make you guess between command grab and other, and they both punish opponents really bad for mistakes.

honda is a tank and makoto is “speedy”, is the main difference. Honestly there both trying to do the same thing and seem like there going to have the same problem.

before hands jabs hands spam i played honda very similar to how i played makoto in 3s with pretty good success.

Her ultra II should go over fire balls. and with her insanely fast dash she should be able FADC fire balls AND punish with a grab. actually, i think her FA and dash will be more useful than any other special in dealing with fire balls… at least at at mid screen…EX fire balls though…

Hey, i guys I want your thoughts on something. I plan to mod my HRAP3 to be Makoto themed, any ideas of art I should use for it? I already decided on a color (black and yellow of course), but haven’t found/figured out what art to use for it. Thanks in advance!

If focus dashing through fireballs to choke Ryu feels as good as I think its going to feel, Makoto will be my main.

yeah, i said as much earlier in the thread. which is why i’m hoping they give her average stamina (1000) rather than below average (950-900) which Capcom seems to do with most of their female or faster characters.

Wow Makoto looks bad. I dunno if word has reached SRK but she is most likely going to be low mid at best. Before you all kill me and call me a troll hear me out.

Makoto will not be good because a.) she can’t get through fireballs well, b.) he damage sucks, and c.) she can’t keep pressure. So now that you are arguing in your head and saying OMFG WTF are you talking about hear me out.

It’s already been confirmed Makoto will have a very hard time with fireballs. Basicaly if you’ve played any character that lacks such tools like Honda you already know what you’re in store for. You’re going to get one shot every once in a while to get in and that’s it. That’s fine for Honda but not Makoto because Makoto’s damage is ass.

But she has Super into Ultra. Yeah so what? You’re never going to land it. EVER. Think about it Sim is about the only character in SFIV what keeps his super. Sim CAN save his super because his EX moves add nothing to him and he can get meter like a monster because he is always chucking fireballs. Remember you can’t wiff moves to gain meter in this game, you have got to focus, get hit, or hit them. Mokoto isn’t going to get that chance because she’s always so far away and has trouble getting in. It’s similar to Honda again in this reguard that saving up that super is nice but it’s never going to happen in most match ups. Which means she is going to be stuck maybe getting a jump in once in awhile into Dash Punch.

That’s where the real problem comes in. There is NO MIX UP AFTER DASH PUNCH NOW. Think about it you are out of Choke Range and don’t give me this crap about “Well Justin only did this and justin only did that in the video” Do you really think Justin is stupid enough to discover you can Choke into Ultra and Super Cancel into Ultra but NOT see if every version of Choke throw will reach after Dash punch? So there in lies the problem she can’t mix you up she needs to dash and guess what every decent player on the planet will c. LP your dash on reaction. So you’ve got nothing at that point.

Which brings us back to damage. The only way Makoto is getting any kind of momentum when she finally gets in is to brun EX meter. She needs that KD no from EX Dash Punch. You know what that means no super to ultra EVER. It’s never going to hit because you will need to burn it all the second you get int for KD. Without her Ultra or Super he damage sucks. Choke into Ultra did like 40% WITH FULL ULTRA. You know how often you’re going to have Full Ultra? Almost never. So chances are if you hit Choke and do Ultra you’re going to net like 33% which is nothing.

So let me put it this way Makoto wil rely entirely on using EX Dash punch in combos to KD because without it she is momentumless and wasted her time. Her entire offense will depend on how many EX bars she has. It’s going to be hard for her to get EX bars because of the way she is and the way the system works. Not to mention she still needs to guess after a KD and with FADC Ultra against Fireball character who will most likely have two bars at this point it doesn’t work in her favor. All of that put together with the garbage damage she’s doing I don’t understand why you don’t see what I saw in this videos which was big trouble for Makoto.

Unless a Kara is discovered for Choke she’s basically shit out of luck in this game. She’ll have bad match ups against all grapplers and all decent fireball chuckers.

I fully agree… maybe. This is why I think “getting hype” and playing theory fighter is stupid. A lot of shit goes out of the window when you actually start playing the game. I’m sure a lot of people who haven’t played the game (and how many people have?) will want to disagree with you, but their counter arguments will all be based on biased daydreams where they envision Makoto destroying everyone. You could be completely wrong, but at least your logic is grounded in reality.

Getting EX is hardly ever the problem. The issue is needing to use those bars to maintain offense/defense.

i agree. i don’t think we’ve seen any gameplay from the final version yet. IMO, it’s way to early to say any of the 3S characters are top tier just by looking at these controlled PR stunts. a lot of people bought into the hype about SF4 and some were disappointed. it seems many of them are buying into it again.

well I do not think it is too early. The release date of the game is too close. They are most likely almost done with the game and doing final fixes now.

Compared to Dudley and Ibuki, Makoto looks weak as hell… :-/
