Yes very true, Its a great way to get out of a sticky situation but maybe i should have put “beats” in quotation marks cause it’s a bit misleading, that’s all I was saying. The crouching attacks if timed correctly looked like they would work well but they are probably tough to execute as well, who knows, but I liked the possibility. I havent even actually had anyone do that to me, but then again i play on PSN. lol thanks for the prejump info Gilley. Good to know when doing frame trap math with other characters
Hey gilley, if anyone here can know this, its you. What about this setup here w akuma? Would cr attack help here or is it hopeless?
All escapes are really difficult but you can do wakeup
close s.short
close s.forward
focus backdash
The first one is hard to do(but safest) because you can’t plink s.short with jab or you get a throw wiff.
2nd one is easier since you can plink s.forward, but akuma can punish wiff s.forward
focus backdash can be OS’d if they’re waiting for it.
I’ve found the way Guile escapes most unblockables is by doing some sort of wakeup normal on the exact frame he wakes up.
Has anyone tried an unblockable with guile? I just saw a ken player do it in the corner, but why can’t guile do it? Id like to research this…
Dieminion mentioned j.HK crossing up in the corner on certain chars(not sure of exactly which ones) but not any unblockables.
I’ve done it on Bison in the corner before, completely by accident.
In the corner, press 2 cr.lp’s > forward jump hk.
Is this supposed to be an unblockable?
Nah, it’s not an unblockable but…quite a few people won’t recognize jump hk as a crossup. Problem with it is if you come across someone who’s solid in AA’ing, they’ll knock you clean out of the air before you even pull off the j.hk.
EDIT: Rexell mentioned this as well in another post (unfortunately, I can’t find that post. Sorry Rexell).
Actually I only found it to work on Ryu, and I’m not sure if it’s an unblockable since it’s not done on knockdown and doesn’t need to be in the corner.
Actual setup is hitting Ryu with 2 x cs.lp, forward jump hk. Don’t know if it’ll work if Ryu blocks the lp though. If I remember correctly, Ryu blocks as a crossup if you try it in training mode and set Ryu to autoblock. This will most likely fail if he moves though.
I know of the cross up HK in the corner but it doesn’t work against everybody. It does work against Ryu. Also, the whole premise to the unblockable is not only not being able to block left nor right, but they cannot counter with a reversal like beloved Guile with his shifty crossup reversal… apparently absent. Unblockables dont work on Ryu or Ken cause they can DP, Guile can’t… which is why when you type in unblockables, Guile comes up all over youtube.
I just think that maybe he can throw in the corner, perform some sort of normal, then land a crossup that can’t be blocked… may be worth learning against characters with bad reversals so that we can end up with 5 hit BnB
J.Hk works as a crossup against Cody as well, found out by accident, made me win a round
Good, anything vs cody will help in 2012, so many buffs for him.
Doesnt need to be in the corner for jumping hk crossup?? No way. How is this possible
That’s what the cs.lps are for… It sets the spacing so you don’t need to get Ryu into corner. Some ambiguous blocking setups doesn’t need to be in the corner. I think a similiar e.g would be E.Ryu’s j.hk crossup. Ambiguous jump-in attacks don’t need corners to work. What they usually need is a knockdown. Some don’t even need knockdowns if you can get the distance perfect.
Backthrowing Ryu into the corner, then timing j.hk as he wakes up also crosses him up. You might have to walk forward a little before jumping if Guile is pretty far from the corner. Or you can also time a whiffed c.mp a little later after a very close-to-corner backthrow then jump. It’s pretty ambiguous since j.lk crossup has to be a little nearer. The hk can’t be too early or too late.
You can also f.throw, walk just a little forward and j.hk also crosses up on Ryu. But it’s not safe cos Ryu can lp srk into ultra if you jump after forward throw and harder due to the little step forward. Maybe Capcom should give Guile a better f throw or make the opponent get up later so that he can have jump setups like shotos.
Maybe Gilley can research more on j.hk crossup? Being the data and hitbox expert, I think he might already have some setups up his sleeve.
My apologies. Im surprised it worked but is it really a crossup in that they have to block the opposite direction? too lazy to lab it out. Its a shame its not very practical. after those two jabs, they can do whatever they want.
why would you want to cross up ryu and land in the corner?
If you do it right he me might block and you are stuck in there, if you do it wrong you can probably eat a lp.srk to ultra
I couldn’t agree more with placing Guile in the corner. But then again, if the player can time it as an unblockable, then it might actually be a good thing to surprise the opponent and a Guile jump-in combo can sometimes win him the round.
Anyway, the corner setup won’t be hit by lp srk to ultra without meter, unless the timing is really too late. Guile will usually land behind the lp srk.
I don’t see the point. It’s interesting to get a jump in but the risk of getting cornered is too great. I’d prefer apply pressure and keep that Ryu in the corner.
This will only be practical as an unblockable and someone that doesnt have a reversal. Not sure if this would even work against Ryu or not, in fact I dont know if a viable unblockable even exists.
