Was able to AA cr.lp against Yun’s closeup divekicks last night. Was stuffed 2 out of 6 times. Weak AA but it gets Yun’s pressure off of me.
i wasn’t suggesting that yun was an easy match. he’s definitely horrible for guile too, no doubt about it. i’ve been playing yun on the side so i can learn as much about the character as possible. he’s got so many tools you almost forget to use some of them. unfortunately my execution is the thing that’s letting me down right now. i keep missing too many cr.mp, st.mp, up kicks combos after command grabs, and i keep fucking up the genai jin.
oh and for those looking for a great dhalsim counter, like rexell advised me, dhalsim is totally free to yun. i was playing someone in the top 10 bp dhalsim’s on psn and absolutely wiped the floor with him after the first game.
i must get some advice on some matches that are back to being even/hard for guile again. i’ve forgotten how and when to punish certain things in certain matches. will make a post about it soon.
Personally think it’s too early to say who’s dominant as far as top psn’s at this point in time. The fluctuation between bp/pp is too rampant to even say anything. People are still trying to learn their character matchups and are still playing their mains Super Style. Not to mention that there’s boosters already afoul.
true. but he was definitely “above average” at worst. dhalsim is totally fucked in that match.
and you’re right about boosters…i saw emblem lord’s name in the top ten.
Try to use s.hp rather than s.lp unless it’s a last min AA. S.hp’s hitbox is a lot better and can even hit divekicks at around Guile’s elbow area. It’s got better dmg and only slower like about 1-2 frames more to hit. I seldom get stuffed with s.hp against divekicks and it’ll trade with divekicks often in Guile’s favour. S.mk also works but imo, a little harder to get a clean hit with it.
I tried the st.hp alone and with option select. Kept getting stuffed repeatedly. The Yun wasn’t divekicking from that high up but divekicking low (under the waist). S.mk I’ll either hit clean or trade which is in my advantage anyways cuz of stamina and breathing room.
I still have more problem with Yang than Yun. Yang seems to have a better pressure game and that move that goes under sonic booms is so annoying. It could be the players but I have an 80% win rate against Yun but only 40% against Yang, WTH. Oh, that lunge punch from Yun goes through the sonic hurricane??!?!?! WTH?!!! I can’t remember if it’s the ex version, I think it was. Has the start up on SH been increased?
Oni is starting to give me trouble now. Like someone said earlier, it’s like none of your moves connect and he’s soooo close; so frustrating. It’s like how close to I have to be to touch this dude. Then he can really get sickening with the air slash, FADC combos.
I cannot stand Ibuki. Curse that EX neck breaker move!
Ken is a lot better IMO, probably the best shoto now?
S.lp is the best normal to AA a divekick on reaction which is from the angle and height you described. You can’t react with s.hp at that range and it’ll get stuffed at startup. S.hp is only effective about half screen or slightly lesser than half screen. I think for desperate attempts to get in on Guile with divekicks, s.hp and far s.mp works best for me.
What about when they get in close and use a double dive kick as an anti tech?
random scrubby lk FK, lol.
This here is the core of Yun’s game and why he’s top-tier. If you blocked a divekick from Yun, every option Guile has, Yun has a counter to it and more options apart from those.
If you’re sure he’s gonna double divekick to catch a tech, then backdashing or a FK guess would be the best choice. He can only punish backdash if he OSs or is looking out for your backdash. Blocking would just reset the situation in Yun’s favour. In AE, it’s important to have this mentality not to block any divekicks from Yun, except if it’s Gief and maybe 1 or 2 more characters.
How to deal with Fei Long that waits for his cr lk/cr lp to connect than combo it into rekka?
Tried footsies and some random backfist, got chicken-winged.
Most Yuns that I play use OS’s on my backdash. The only way that I’ve been able to get out of it is by using backdash super > ultra 1. Otherwise, I’m just blocking and waiting for a tech and that slight opening to push them back out to at least sweep range. Or doing a random lk flashkick.
lol backdash super ultra. Sounds like 1 in a million. with the super bar nerf is kinda hard to have super.
So:
Sim, Chun, Juri, DeeJay and Rose
All of them keep their 20 meter gain on fireball so dont even try to get into a war with them.
Has anyone adjusted their game against these 4 and if so how do you find success against them in AE that is different from Super?
DeeJay and Chun scare me more now, I just try and follow my booms with a bazooka knee and try to partition all my booms so I can just corner them
hmm follow them with a knee thats interesting, why do you use the knee over his other moves? just for spacing or do you try to hit them with it?
I just wanna get closer cuz the booms don’t win a war, so if I get to a certain range I’ll just tag them with a backfist if our projectiles collide
that makes sense, thanks sk8
no problem man
