(M) c.lk->c.mk target combo is super cancellable. It’s really worthless as far as I can tell. The only thing I can think it would be good for is breaking armor specials like balrog’s ex dash punch. You can’t just hit confirm the c.mk from the c.lk because the window to cancel the c.lk is so short. I think it’s just a fast low-hitting poke into hands which benefits from the additional damage/meter in the blockstring/combo, but honestly I’d rather blockstring still with s.mp. I’m super underwhelmed by it.
For those who were asking, you can’t just chain c.lk x2 into the target combo; you actually have to link the TC from c.lp instead of mashing it out. I spent some time on it tonight. Think of Fei Long’s hit confirms into rekkas… that’s how you have to combo the TC.
I also think one of the reasons Gen is moving up the tier list is because a lot of our bad matchups got nerfed and he has a lot of answers for the twin’s shenanigans. Also remember: when super came out, the tier lists were completely stupid and inaccurate. I think Gen is a solid B right now in AE. Damage output (TC’s) wasn’t his only problem that needed solving, and nearly none of his major problems got fixed.
In other news, I’m heavily considering signing up for Westcoast Warzone. I just need to tell myself that the expense of the registration fee is worth proving a point. Whaddayathink?
I had luck stuffing people’s c.MK’s and stuff with Gen’s (M) c.lk->c.mk two or three times yesterday. Wasn’t prepared to follow up with LK Gekiro but I think it should work (from that range I mean; I know at close range the TC > LK Gekiro does work), so maybe that’s a good use for it?
ok so thats how it works (the cLK-cMK target combo i mean)
exactly, sounds like fei’s 1fr link into cLP xx Rekkas, but while feilong can only do that against some crouchers, gen already has plenty of easier and more damaging hitconfirm options… i had this feeling and at least up til now i dont see the reason why they put in in his arsenal… we’ll se if something interesting comes out.
this last one, also seen on eventhubs, is based on (average?) battle points per character… not “technically” a tier list
the other one, i guess it was supposed to be a “”"“real”""" tier list based on opinions about match-ups, (where a 7-3 gives you 7 points, 4-6 is 4 pts… etc… and at the end you make the ranking with all the points for each character)
but it always comes to WHO give/s his/their opinion/s about those matchups… nothing to be considered “absolute” anyway
I used to get bad callouses from vanilla Gen. Twice as bad as Super Gen (lol…). For AE I worry more about cramping my fingers doing fierce -> forward xx hands a lot…
Impressive. I’ve always thought Amiyu was great when we had a chance to see some of his Gen in action since Super was released. Nice to see him so represented. As an underrated character that’s fantastic.
I think registration is like 50-60 bucks for singles, 70(?) for singles+3’s team. I don’t even have a good 3’s team in mind since the people I know are going aren’t doing team or have one already.
And yeah. Lk gekiro still will lose to some meaty slides. It’s hard to say if EX has changed. All I know is that the hitboxes on HK and MK Gekiro have changed for sure (from TC and s.mk combos), but it’s hard to say how exactly without blowing a LOT of money and time in arcade.
EDIT: Ex Gekiro still whiffs on meaty slides like fuerte and sim. LK will sometimes lose out.
(M) S, Hk on counter. Is this is a possibility to link with another or even sweep? Posted this before and would really like to know if this is possible.
Usually with arcade releases there’s a master guide on launch that usually gets snapped up. I’m surprised SSFIV AE hasn’t got one yet. So we can do a solid side by side look at the changes.
ive got a question. i havent noticed in any of the vids, but if you block akumas far RH, do you still have to block the second hit if you are crouching?
THIS. I just don’t understand how this works, they fixed every single problem anyone ever seemed to have with Hakan and THEN some, how is he not at least T. Hawk tier? Hakan has a good set of normals with plenty of different varieties, a great air grab, a coward crouch, short hop, he now has oil follow ups to slides that leave him with frame advantage, can cancel his anti-air kick grabs, and now he can STACK oil-ups. When oiled up, his grabs are amazing. I played around with him quite a bit in SSFIV, and they’re kinda weird, but oiled grabs are just as good as Gief’s grabs, and slides are INCREDIBLY good when coupled with oily grabs. And that moving Focus? AMAZING. The only reason I don’t play Hakan is because he has Seth syndrome, shortcuts make me do the wrong inputs WAY too damn often. (A loose spring in an arcade stick ruins Hakan, because the springback on a z-input magically becomes a half circle, 360, etc. Shit’s annoying as hell.)
Back on topic, Gen really seems better in AE. Played a bunch at FFA on New Year’s day because it was completely empty that day, and ravaged a good friend of mine who was using Yun. I actually really like the c.lk to c.mk target combo, but I need to spend much more time with it to make it a part of my game.
BTW, I NEED someone to help me find more Amiyu gameplay videos, because I could only find like 2 of them total, and they were console. Amazing Gen, he’s my new hero, he does the scariest shit. Dashing downed opponents into the corner and rushing down like a bat out of hell. It’s no WONDER he’s in top 20 for BP.
