Probably the case. I catch a lot of people chasing me with dashes and specials with an EX Gekiro when I land behind them. Either way, making them have to react in a short window to both blocking correctly AND punishing is a buff. It wasn’t an issue reacting fast enough to punish, back when it was slow. Now kinda like dodging a bullet.
I think Crane Super is best for people jumping towards you. I would be careful using U2 as a jump-back punish on say Ken’s jump back HK. Remember the thing about no invincibility. You will catch them if they dont have fast/good air to air normals or if they don’t do anything at all.
Also: Sadly in Super, I’d had a Chun react to Crane U2 with her juggling backflip (df.lk?) into Kikosho. That cost me first place in a ranbat.
well put it this way i know if i see them jump and i react fast enough i can back jump ultra 2 and catch a few characters. but some its little to no chance. im not saying it wont get stuffed but i am saying its fast enough to work on anyone now right? besides that split second of landing animation they have also may catch them i assume. has the mantis super crane ultra 2 tiger kneed been ruled out already?
god i have too many questions and thank you once again but last one i think…
oga into C ult 2?
is it simple to do now or is it still a perfect landing kinda thing? I can do it on the whole cast as of now but its still like PERFECTION to do it
Mantis super -> Crane U2 doesn’t work. It’s a height thing, not a speed thing.
Yeah I think you’ll be able to catch anyone’s jump-back, but it takes much different timing in general to hit. If you throw U2 too early and they’re jumping at you, you’ll go under them. Don’t get me wrong; the ultra is great now. You just have to relearn it.
And I haven’t been able to Oga-> Crane U2 on anyone during casuals. I guess they get real wise and start blocking high when they see I have ultra ready. I’ll keep trying. Personally, I really want to see if Ceiling drop will combo into U2 without having to be SUPER meaty.
I’m surprised no one is shitting themselves over the damage those combos I posted do.
dude my mindset on the pictures were… nah he hit them like 6 times before the combos… i dont know man it seems so good im ignoring it. im use to disappointment with gen. but if it is how it looks. youll see me use mantis style a bit more. but i think the fact that im in crane 80% of the time is what throws people off in the first place.
also as for the super into ultra i was just hoping it would catch them almost on the ground maybe. i know its a different state but almost like if you FA someone and you do your Crane ultra 2 a tad late. youll still catch them at times while they are literally laying down. its kinda funny and dumb. i still have to really see this speed. BEFORE super came out i think ti was seth that said gen will be able to punish fireballers on reaction. this as we know isnt true with ultra 2 crane unless the reaction is you in the air already. be nice if i could tag ryu for throwing any fireball whatsoever now
You can kinda see it here. I didn’t link this video earlier because I was still trying to figure out how to use the new target combo and seeing if Crane U2 was easier to cross up. I was pretty disappointed with how I did in this match.
Hope you all see how impossible it can be to try to test these things in casuals with super aggressive opponents, haha.
the cLK, cLP, HP>MK xx LK gekiro looks very good… thank you for the pics
its a 1 framer but it might become the universal hit confirm combo from light hits for maximum damage… HP forces stand, and MK pushes you forward so the gekiro should be unlikely to whiff in a “character specific way”… nice.
Good work, Vanesco! Buy yourself a beer and pretend it’s from me.
By asking for more info it feels that I’m detracting from your enjoyment of AE, but I have to ask. Have you tried out any cross-up Oga setups? If so, how did they go?
-everything that Gen has in Super.
-drastically improved (speed) of crane U2.
-greatly improved mantis s.hk
-improved overall meter building
-new target combos which have proven effective, and build meter really well. Also allowing for new combo oppertunities and possibly FADC combos.
This is sounding really good to me, the only thing I would still want really is the return of EX Oga invincibility or possible combo from crane s.mp (overhead), but that is probably too much to ask. I’m very happy with these changes though, and who knows there might be some other stuff left to discover once AE drops on consoles.
Hey all, haven’t been on here for a long time since I got sick of this game and stopped playing months ago after Gen got monster boned, but seeing as he seems marginally less crippled now and I live in Japan, I’ll be popping down to the arcades to try him out next week. Naturally, given my location, I can pretty much walk round the corner to the arcade, and it’s open 'til stupid o’clock I think, so hopefully I can find some quiet time to sit down and test some stuff against the AI on a lonely night. Any other requests from anyone? Vanesco seems to have uncovered most of it already, but I’m still wondering about meterless comboing into sweep and whether anything’s changed there. Not hopeful to be honest, but worth a squirt. Basically. . .
1.) mp, KKK cr.lk, sweep? Very doubtful. . . or even KKK lp, cr.lk, sweep after a x-up.
2.) Any frame advantage buffs to other normals allowing a link to sweep? mp>sweep works in console SSF4 on counter hit, and didn’t someone say the mp>hp link felt a little more lenient? If mp got another +1 advantage though, then it could also link into cr.hp, and that’s definitely not there, right? Sweep’d also have to come down to 7 frame startup. . . oh well, never mind.
Also, like Ouroborus and Orochi, I’d like to test the damage and meter gain/loss ratio on some FADC>mp, tc>gekiro stuff, plus the x-up oga stuff.
Lastly, I can’t say I’m too surprised the “landing frame bug” is still in. It just reeks of their usual negligence.
Seriously, that’s quite a feat. Even though it just means he plays too much ssfiv and point don’t mean shit, having that little fights means he has a crazy win ratio which I guess could say something.
i know points don’t mean shyte. I was going by the fact of his game to point ratio, and the fact that if that is legit, i want to see him play so I could possibly learn something. That’s all.
I don’t know where he came from, but I have a hard time believing he isn’t boosting from going so fast out of the blue. Reminds me of ||AUY|| a japanese seth player who went from nowhere to 25.000bp, turns out he didn’t boost O.O I mean I guess it’s possible…
