Hi guys, PLEASE oh PLEASE tell me what the hell I can do VS neutral jump? from far? at close? these neutral/back jumping interweb warriors are driving me nuts, feels so retarded how careful you need to be in order to win compared to the skill level needed to repeat their “technique”. Especially the back jumping shotos are terrible(or maybe I’m just terrible vs them), takes forever to close in and if you start ducking there will be a tatsu or j.hk in your face before you notice.
Same problem.
I have no answers yet, still getting killed by jump back HK shoto tactics and runaway scissor kick/psycho crusher/sweep bisons :[
They only frustrate me and then I do stupid stuff and lose faster.
Jump fierce right at them. It completely shuts down Seth’s jump back bullshit and 90% of the casts jumping normals. If they’re close, just use st. mk. Problem solved.
another one, what to do when Sim air teles next to you and headbutts, I eat it a lot. Shitty match up even without the unnecessary damage :\
toss out a jab. shuts that shit down completely.
For those who are asking about the neutral jumping or jump back shotos, are they in the corner? if so that sucks for them just use the appropriate empty ducking and then lp JU into hp JU. if they are jumping back they are giving up positional real estate and backing themselves into the corner. Just walk forward and be ready to AA any forward jump attempt or to press back if they try to poke. I think a lot of people get overzealous when they see someone jumping a lot. Because it is a pretty scrubby tactic but it can’t be punished my just mindless pursuit. Be frugal in your attempts and just counter attack at that point. He’s added pressure onto himself by moving backwards. force him to be the one to move at that point.
He will eat anything you throw at him, go for a c.hp or s.hp, if it counterhit you won’t be seeing dalshim doing that again anytime soon.
FA their projectiles and build your ultra. I tend to move slowly forwards and back, gradually gaining ground. Don’t HK duck to gain ground unless it’s with the intent of hitting them. if they hurricane you, you should be able to jab jab and go into Bnbs. Pretty sure that’s safe if you blocked the kick.
If they’re jumping about then back + mk is your friend.
main thing is take your time and gauge your spacing right. don’t go mental and lose the plot and go all out… we’ve all been there…
If I uploaded the the type of matches I win and then the matches I lose, you’d laugh. I’m always losing to some dumb tactic like that because I get frustrated and try to bulldog a win out vs them. Last dumb match I lost to was an Akuma that did jump forward air hadou, far st. HK, sweep or cr MK.
I tell my friends all the time, Dudley is not a scrub killer.
X my nigga when are we gonna train together? You said you wanted to bust through your plateau right?
Dudley might not be a scrub killer, but if you’re losing to people like Mr. X described then that’s an issue with you, rather than the character. Scrub killer or not you should be killing scrubs, expecially shitty Akuma like that.
Been busy with school work, been trying to focus but these fucking teacher are so boring or have accents I can barely understand that it’s more work than it’s worth. I’ll try to get on tonight or the weekend.
I have little to no experience against these types of players. I practice and play against people who think and react and learn to fight these type of players and then you play against someone like this it’s like “What the hell?” and I’m just puzzled because I have 0 experience vs this type of player and it goes against everything I’ve learnt.
I don’t expect a player to throw out Gen’s super from full screen away, I don’t expect a player to keep using the same 2 attacks. I need to stop expecting them to switch it up or do something else >_<
You can usually spot these kinds of players after a round. The best way to play against these players is to play patiently, bait, block and punish. Don’t get impatient because you’ll end up getting hit by something random.
I’m just going to throw this out here:
Against Adon, st.fierce and st.forward are good moves to throw out on reaction to Jaguar Tooth’s startup, as they both have a decent hitbox and a lot of active frames. Which one you should use is distance-dependent, but they’ll both stuff/trade Jaguar Tooth and are safe if whiffed when used correctly. EX JT is a bit harder to stuff, but I’m able trade against it most of the time. Both non-EX JT does 120 and Dudley’s st.fierce does 130. Dudley also has more health, so don’t be afraid of trading since it will deal much more damage percentage-wise and still push Adon closer to the corner.
Jaguar Kick’s vulnerable hitbox is huge and goes active a lot later than the animation would have you believe. St.forward works very well against JK when it’s done outside of a block string. St.fierce also works well if it’s a bit too far for st.forward. As for block strings, cr.strong xx short JK has a seven frame gap in between. I can’t react to it’s 20 frame startup at the writing of this post (the beginning of its startup isn’t very obvious), but someone might be able to with some training. Instead, I throw out an st.jab after Adon’s cr.strong if I predict it and walk forward to start Dudley’s mixup. You can condition an Adon player not to do cr.strong xx JK in a block string and get them to do something else, pushing Dudley away and resetting the game to neutral.
All that’s really left for defense is properly AAing all jump-in attempts and solid footsies to keep Adon from gaining momentum and hopefully allowing Dudley to gain his.
everyone else might’ve already known this, but chun can reversal super a blocked lp mgb. I found this out yesterday during a match lol.
for adon every time he reaches for the wall i press s.fp. My timing isn’t quite perfect but either you stuff his Jaguar Tooth or it trades in your favor, or it whffs innocently on the other side of the screen. Adon should not be using JT vs dudley. Don’t get baited to doing ex dp/ultra with lk JT.
Don’t know if this is known or not but I just did a forward throw on gief, mk ducking, j.rh and it crossed up. I assume this only works on characters with the bigger hitboxes
Edit: nvm, only seemed to have work probably because it was on counter hit and the gief was mashing jab greenhand
jHK and jLK can crossup. It depends on the character.
I think s.mp is a better answer to Jaguar Tooth. It comes out quicker and never trades (in my experience.)
The only reason I use s.FP is because its active frames are longer, making the timing less strict. Also U2 punishes JT, if the Adon knows this he will try to bait with a short or forward JT, which I believe you can punish with ex.MGB on reaction if you’re fast enough.
s.hp does 130 damage. s.mp does 60. Just something to think about.
Isn’t it something dumb like 180 on counter-hit too? Very good point.
