I prefer Corkscrew Cross for Hakan, specifically because it focus breaks and smart Hakans are discovering they can Focus into Oil Coaster ultra very very easily. You want to keep SOME distance from Hakan, so you’re able to get outta there if he does his slippy-slide command grab, and then punish however you want. EX MGB any oiling up he might do. You’ll hit most of the time. I haven’t seen much good antiair outta Hakan so business elbow combo into Ultra 2 should be feasible. SSB wakeup is fun to punish command grabs, especially if you can do a little dance in front of them to fake them into it. f.HK is also a fun time since it has some good range. Since you’ll be standing at perfect range to do it anyway, use M Thunderbolt a few times per round since it’s basically gonna be free damage and reset your wake-up game.
Jumping mp works but the timing is really strict. With Vega, I found it best to just use an empty ducking on all his wall dives.
I love Dudley :]. I’m going to main him now. :X
Keep in mind, a lot of lows beat Balrog’s headbutt. If he uses EX though you’re gonna eat a fat Ultra.
He’s really fun to use. Let us know how you’ll approach some of his harder match-ups i.e. anyone with top tier pokes.
That was my first goto idea, however, I found myself getting tagged by his claw before I recovered from my ducking. (if you go out of throw range the claw comes out) Do you just use RH ducking?
I will try both empty duckings (again, maybe I was just off on my timing) and cr fp (I didnt really try this one, st mk is around 50/50, it doesnt do that well if his claw comes out), also, jump back fp from long range.
Thanks for the tips.
I´ll say dudley has the edge over hakan, he has better footsies even unoiled but if you score a knockdown you can rush down him because he is 100% free on wakeup, even if he has U1 dudley´s sweep if done meaty beats his 720 clean. Be careful with mgb when he has it tho.
You can punish any oil-up (even lk version) from almost full screen with EX mgb, if you get in you can pretty much poke/frame trap/throw him to death if unoiled, his 360 without oil is garbage and will only beat throw attemps and some meaty hits.
If you are meterless and a bit far, he will probably oil-up and let you punish him because it´s worth it for him. Hit him with whatever you can, because that will reduce the oil duration a lot and score a knockdown if possible, his 360 is no joke when oiled so be more careful here. Jump straight if you feel he is going to 360 and punish, hakans options against this are risky, he can jump and air throw/j.mp, poke you or 360k (not reliable) if he land it he can get a free lk oil but still the risk/reward is on your favor.
If you dont want to risk it when hes oiled just stay at range but be careful because oiled hakan is scary, his dash is very very good when oiled and he can 50/50 you from half screen in 1 seg just to oil up again.
TL,DR Rush him down like there´s no tomorrow if hes unoiled, dont let him oil up. Always be ready to punish oil attemps with most damaging punisher, corner him and rape him there.
Im having a lot of experience fighting excellent Cody and Ibuki players, probably one of the best europeans players with those characters. I´ll break down those matchups soon too, hope this helps a bit (if you ever found a hakan player haha)
Yes, I believe I was using HK. ducking and I got out clean every time I used it. Also, if you’re sitting on a life lead or it’s tied up, it will goad them to come to you on the ground. Slide kick is a free punish all day.
I honestly wouldn’t even go in the air against Vega unless I absolutely knew I could beat him out. It’s just too risky getting the timing/angle absolutely perfect.
Fair enough, RH ducking out, CR FP if hes diving in meaty.
So I’m testing this in training mode and want someone else to confirm it cause it’s really confusing me atm lol.
I’m finding that if I block Dictator’s EX Psycho Crusher while standing, I can land Rolling Thunder before he can block. If I block it while crouching, and do the input for Rolling Thunder asap, I get the reversal message but Dictator can block it. If I wait a little longer (Seemingly) to the point where I input Rolling Thunder and don’t do it as a reversal, I catch Dictator with the full ultra.
So safe thing to do, is block standing then do ultra as he passes. Otherwise it requires more timing if done from blocking low. If I’m even doing this right, which is why I want someone else to test it lol. If Rolling Thunder DOES punish EX PC, I’m totally using it for this matchup.
EDIT: Also props on the first page. So nice and so clean.
Yep, you can punish EX pc even while crouching you can just wait a bit and punish. RT is far superior against bison , since you can punish both pc and teleports.
Called it, RT is an amazing ultra.
Zangief matches are definitely unenjoyable.
I would imagine you could punish some Devils Reverses with dash ultra too.
Also, am I the only one who hasn’t had any trouble with Chun yet? She seems free as hell to me so far…
Dhalsim doesn’t seem too hard either, I just try and trade normals.
Also, Updated.
As any character. Zangief is one of those characters where I find myself constantly facepalming while I get SPD’d randomly. Oh well, ST that fool.
gief is so scary once you get knocked down XD but before then you just space and zone effectively and he can have a lot of troubles, but that ex green hand coming at you is terrifying
i used to hate gief wayyy more than i do now but he’s still ugly and dumb hahaha
A Chun with good footsies is bad news for any character. Unless you have a fireball of course.
Can’t you kinda get free jump-ins on Chun because of j.hk?
Also, safe jump OS ultra 2 should be 100% safe against her (I haven’t tested it, I’m assuming her backdash isn’t quite ridiculous enough to dodge the whole thing).
Dudley’s st.HP can stuff her normals, just time it right.
And with U1 she can’t throw fireballs at all.
She also has a hard time anti airing THE BUSINESS ELBOW.
Standing outside of her lp/lk range, but still in her sweep/hp range and baiting pokes with focus works well too.
You can’t jump if she has Ultra II and I’m guessing cr. RH will be the poke of choice against Dudley’s standing fierce. You’ve also got to look out for her standing fierce and neutral jump roundhouse.
Haven’t got to play a good Chun yet with Dudley but I’m sure all of those will be big threats. Once I get back into Dallas this week I can personally know for sure how bad this match-up will be.
Typically her s.hp recovers too quickly to get hit by a level 2 focus unless you were already charging for a moment before she poked. And I don’t wanna do a level 1 on her.
