-c.lp and c.mp stuff him completely. even some of his fuckin jump ins
Sorry if this is old news, not updated on the first post
You can duck upper Gief’s lariat’s and also cross counter them too, you can cross counter his banishing hand ex and non-ex, easily beat out his jump in’s with s.mk, cross counter his cross up’s after knockdown. Dudleys cr.hk xx duck upper is a good move in this match up using it unexpectedly as good giefs love walking forward to try and take you to the corner. Gief has know FA breaking moves so cross counter is your best friend to force gief to start doing empty jump in’s and cr low hits. Also s.Hp should keep him out of gief’s s.hk range and c.mk xx grab range.
Im no Dudley expert but from my experience from playing New Zealands no.1 player this is what i came up with.
Speaking of Lvl 1 FA into backdash. I was kind of bummed once I learned Lvl 1 FA wasn’t even safe on hit so I tried to think of the best options to followup if I happened to get a counterhit on that level 1. Ended up noticing some cool stuff, actually.
-Best Oki: Ducking Straight = 155 Damage, 285 Stun. Allows for safe jump options or high low pressure on Oki.
-Potential reset? I haven’t tried this on a human yet but I think it may actually be a powerful reset as you can determine which side you end up on: Walk up s.HK (c.LK for characters that fall quicker than others) xx Ducking. If you cancel the s.HK or c.LK using HK ducking, you end up within throw range on the other side of the opponent and enough time to do c.LK to begin a low string. Granted, this is SF4 so you have to be cautious of auto-corrected EX uppers and stuff but, you can really apply pressure. Low, throw, overhead, block. It’s all in your favor but is the guessing game of a reset in SF4 I guess.
Green Hand is still unsafe. I would punish it with s.hk xx EX MGB. You can f.mk -> s.hk xx EX MGB technically but I would keep it simple so you don’t eat Final Atomic Buster.
That said, not only it sounds hard for her to confirm our focus in time to backdash, I also wonder how hard would she be able to punish a whiffed FA…? Dudley will be like, 10 frames away from recovery and she’ll be considerable far (considering that decent Chun players already pokes with s.mp from near max range + backdash). I need some lab time against Chun.
This a hundred times. Also make sure you’re not stand-blocking his command jump/air flip shit and you’ll be golden. If he’s slide happy, make him eat some FA’s and it’s easy. Warning, watch out for EX tatsu spam on wake up if he’s got the meter for it (my Guy-playing friend says that’s his only really good wake up option).
Guy cannot FADC the EX tatsu so they better dont “spam” it more than 1 time per round against dudley :bgrin:
Good guys will abuse his normals, specially the normal slide he has that is safe if done at the right spot. Try to not get cornered, thats where guy is stronger. I think this matchup will probably be 5-5, guys reversal is strong but very very risky.
Definitely going to have to practice more… Blanka is currently my bane of existence… Well not really, since I can beat him, but my friend plays Blanka… POORLY… and because of the unpredictable and nonsensical choices he makes while battling, I’ll end up losing to him. It’s like I expect him to do stuff a good player would do, but he sucks, thus he wins because I totally get thrown off by the weird crap he does, haha.
Shoto’s are a weakness of mine too… well, Ryu mainly. I can destroy Akuma’s all day, since most play like they just picked Akuma because “LOOK AT HOW BADASS HE IS!”. This will definitely help though. Time to go over some stuff in training!
