I think there are less disappointing ones this time around. At least so far.

I want to update the First post but I dont have the links too all the known new alt.
That would be cool.
Outfit Bundels?
If someone where to per say get something just because it looks cool,
would it be possible to get them individually cheaper?
Buying one item and a lot of cra- is rather lame.
Few look interesting just because.
Or is the person forced to chose between bundels or buy them all after a very very long waiting time?
Because there are other fighting games that give a LOT of free outfits… not to mention also in 3d and more advance but that’s up to you.

the fact that you compare doa to anything is a terrible, terrible thing.
I didn’t see anyone answer this kind of quote directly, so I’ll go ahead and explain why the costumes are on the disc:
Because if they weren’t, you couldn’t play with anyone who *did *download the costumes–it would fragment the player base.
So it’d have to either ship with the data on the disc, or they’d have to set up a potentiallly confusing download that people would be required to d/l that would allow people w/o the costume pack(s) to play against people that had the costume pack(s). This d/l would, of course, simply be the costume pack data anyway.
You should probably also consider the fact that if Capcom didn’t think they could make a little extra money off of these costumes, that they wouldn’t have put any money into making them in the first place–because making them does indeed cost time and money. In other words, if the DLC option didn’t exist, neither would these costumes.
I love free gaming stuff as much as the next guy, but a lot of the boo-hoo’ing is pretty silly–it’s ultimately an optional, purely aesthetic choice. This isn’t world altering shit.
That’s bullshit, many 3d fighting games have had numerous free costumes, Dead or Alive being a good example, Tekken 6 as well, Virtua Figher 5, Soul Calibur. So don’t give us bullshit like this.
I will pay ANY AMOUNT not to have User Created Costumes in this. Just saying.
I really can’t see some of the costumes in the front page. Since the image says bandwidth exceeded. But, can anyone please link me to Juri’s alternate costume?
I guess your right, there’s just nothing to compare it with.
But at most I would only be interested in getting costumes for the characters I main.
Good news: Gen’s new alt looks great! :lovin:
Bad news: That’s the only good news about Gen.
Looking back on some of the older pages, somebody suggested a Dante Alt. for Ken, seeing as they have the same voice actor, then I found this…

I quite like the cowboy look, but this would have been AWESOME!
If DOA did anything right, it was outfits. Of course… That can only take you so far in a fighting game…
Street Fighter is more casual friendly then DOA, enough said.
no disrespect, but even people who play doa at high level admit that the game/series as a whole isn’t that great in comparison to what other games are in the genre. i mean, there’s a reason why the game doesn’t sell that well. the best it’s ever sold was 1.64 million units with doa3, nothing else comes close, and most other series’ fair far, far better than that with almost every new iteration.
besides, what’s the point of ripping on sf4, on an sf forum, to defend doa? if you don’t like sf that much, go to doa central.
Only some people say that, and they don’t “admit” it like it’s a truth or a disease, it’s a freaking opinion. I can’t believe people can be so opinionated about games they know so little about, but I guess it’s Ok to be an ignorant jack ass because everyone else is doing it.
DOA3 sold over 2.5 million copies. Says it on the back of the platinum edition box. DOA4 sold around the same as X360 SFIV, but it was a launch title.(it was also one of the first Platinum hits titles for X360) If that’s not selling well, then it’s pretty much a guarantee that SF is taking another decade long hiatus, because SSFIV isn’t getting anywhere near those numbers.
Capcom really has no excuse for charging for their costumes. Especially when other games(VF, Tekken, DOA, SC, etc. . .) have a ton more content for free, but they’re doing it because they can and people buy it. People aren’t going to stop so don’t waste your time and don’t be surprised if the next iterations of all these games do the same.
I personally like DOA4 and actually only rebought it a while back as two close friends now play it a lot.
Its after holding up pretty well I must say. Still looks good, and patches etc have improved balance.
Its a game, it can be fun and competitive with the right people, thats all that matters right?
On topic: I still think having alt costumes was a bad idea. Alt colours were fine.
i’ve played the game several times, i don’t like it. happy? i get that people enjoy the game, and i’m not saying they shouldn’t, but if you’re going to compare games like that… well, let’s not then. sounds fair enough. then again, the comparison was brought up by a doa supporter. i’m merely responding.
doa3: http://www.vgchartz.com/games/game.php?id=478®ion=All
doa4: http://www.vgchartz.com/games/game.php?id=479®ion=All
sf4(360): http://www.vgchartz.com/games/game.php?id=16065®ion=All
sf4 (ps3): http://www.vgchartz.com/games/game.php?id=13112®ion=All
i would prefer to see some other numbers to refute it if that site is, in fact, lying, or not painting the whole picture.
it makes sense to do so from a business standpoint. being a business major, as well as a gamer, i support it. also, capcom holds a different business model then the other companies you’ve brought up. if the game sells, and the costumes sell, then they’re doing something right.
doa is some good casual fun and it doesnt charge for extra costumes.
(fuck can you imagine if they did? would need bill gates wallet to gett hem all)
out of all the things i can think to complain about sf4 compared to all other sf games i think the alternate costumes are the weakest link in sf4’s armour.
