You aren’t satisfied with getting everything else you guys asked for?
New modes, characters, music, tweaks.
Seems like people just wanna go out and find something to bitch about. Capcom could up the price of SSFIV and get more money, people would still buy it…
Hell, I would still buy it if the price was raised (raised from what? They haven’t set a price for the West yet), but with no new info on the horizon and really nothing else to talk about, it’s only natural that we discuss trivial things such as paying for costumes.
Personally, I don’t care about the issue all that much, but I do admit that I’m bummed out by the fact that, regardless of all the complaints they received last time, Capcom decided to not give a crap and go ahead and charge us for unlocking content we already purchased once again.
It’s certainly what I payed for, I’m not sure exactly what your intentions were when you bought it. I presume it was to acquire the disc and in extension everything on it, not to be told you need to pay another $20 to get the rest of the product you already payed for.
And people not to stop tossing out everyone’s arguments as pedantic whining, that’s not the point. Like I said, we don’t give a shit about being able to play Ryu-Dress-Up, we care that Capcom is fucking us over. Think about the price to content ratio here, $60 for an entire game and then $20 for extra costumes. It’s an outstandingly succesful scam. For the record I couldn’t give a shit whether or not they even had them at all [so basically Maxxx and other such posters have no grasp on what our complaints are], it’s the principle of the matter. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised half of you wouldn’t ever think of it like that, but it’s true… it’s just a dirty move, that’s all.
That said I still want Mecha Gief real bad. I’m going to be fighting the urge once all the DLC is out.
But you don’t have to buy the DLC though. It’s optional. There are those who won’t buy it like me cuz I don’t have the urge to spend the extra $20. The DLC product doesn’t appeal to me. If it appeals to you, then fork it over.
A better analogy is have you ever bought a car? Sometimes on the center console they have slots for extras. Those extras are optional for you to purchase if you deem the product is worth it to you or not. These extras aren’t extra functional for primary use of the car or for the safety of it. (BTW the analogy of extra breaks is totally off based compared to a “costume” pack DLC a few posts back)
Honestly Capcom probably didn’t spend that much time or manpower for these extra costumes. But they were made to be sold. They were made to help up the profitability of the game. They were not made to be an actual functionality of the game, nor were they made for charity and kindness of their own hearts.
If you guys like the costume spend the $5-20 bucks. It’s not that big of a deal. The actual game only cost $40.
Seth’s Borderlands example is borderline retarded, if he seriously wants to compare some new skins, the majority of which look awful to the amount of content that Borderlands addon gives you is moronic. You really need $20 for all costumes that cost fuck all to produce and are going to sell something that cost millions @ $40? You think we’re dumb fucks or something?
Oh well I guess you’re saving us bandwidth and a minute of downloading after all! Thanks guys!
My thoughts exactly. I see his logic, but it’s just an excuse to defend Capcom’s stance on the subject. 'Course he’s going to defend the company he works for.
Seths opinion is utterly biased.I can understand a game developing company that developes a “parallel” (out of the main project schedule) content and charges for it aftwer release via DLC, but charging for skins that already are in the disc is borderlining scam.
The only thing I’d weigh in on is the ‘Japanese not understanding the Western DLC philosophy’ bit.
I believe this penny-pinching tomfoolery has more to do how well the Japanese understand the 'MUST - KEEP - UP - WITH - JONESES (o)_(o) ’ mindset of the sap Western gamer. Couple this with the lowbrow standards of the demographic in question (*some people actually LIKE those outfits :wtf:), and you can practically hear Crapcom giggling girlishly as they skip all the way to the bank!
Win!
(…And Geese and Zeus and Seiger and Amakusa and Igniz! :bgrin:)
Would you feel better if they didn’t put it on the disc, even though it was ready for it? Problem arises that for the people that buy the material vs people who don’t then what do you do? Have them see different things or force a download for everyone regardless of whether they buy it or not (people who don’t buy obviously can’t select it)? If the latter then they might as well have put it on the disc in the first place and now we’re back to square one.
I understand Capcom is a business, I don’t mind paying for new things if I want them but my major gripe with what they did last time is that they weren’t new, were they? Besides the console characters they were already made and were on the arcade, so they were essentially cashing in twice on that and that kinda pissed me off. I think it was advertised poorly this time too, you can’t have “3 costumes for every character!” as a selling point when you have to pay extra for it too, there was no “fine print” in that video saying otherwise. You can harp on how it’s not essential and doesn’t effect the game but you’re still BSing us in the end.
I remember when Team Ninja released not one but two whole expansion pacts for Ninja Gaiden that was absolutely free! What did they do for Ninja Gaiden 2? Make us pay for a simple “mission select” option, this is getting pretty ridiculous…
If I buy a house, I don’t expect the guy to come afterwards to sell me the key to the basement.
I really dislike the whole “restricted area” thing, be it with houses, games, music and stuff, but that’s how the world is nowadays.
So I also dislike this DLC thing. But as I find alternate costumes ugly, it’s cool in a way, since I won’t have to pay for them.
Idk about you guys but I enjoy having new Street Fighter games after like 8 yrs or so. I will purchase the DLC mainly because it helps support Capcom in their SF division. I WANT them to make money so I don’t have to wait fuckin 10 years for SF5. So quit all the bitchin already!
