Ssf4 costumes discussion

In This Thread: Sense of Entitlement!

Truth. The market speaks for itself.

The problem is, it feels like capcom is taking its loyal fan base for a ride because they know they can string us along. It shows a complete disrespect for the consumer. Another company started to do this called Games Workshop (warhammer miniatures). They fucked with their consumers harder than I have ever seen. And you know what? People stopped playing their games and started playing the competitors games. Not because the other games were better or cheaper (which they actually were) but because the relentless leading by the nose that Games Workshop did. Regardless of where you stand on the issue, Capcom is facing a backlash due to their poor decision and ultimately, poor PR. Capcom isn’t the first company to mistake it’s dominance for invincibility. I genuinely hope Capcom sees this backlash and takes it to heart before they feel a REAL backlash like Games Wokshop and other companies have. The reason I’m worried is because they clearly didn’t the first time with the costumes in SF4 (as proof of them doing it again).

Don’t mistake sales for happy costumers. Even loyal fanboys have a breaking point.

I’ve already fallen for this bullshit too many times to do it again. Darth Vader for my SCIV? Sure! What’s that? I paid 5 bucks for shit that was already on there…?.. The items too? Go fuck yourself Namco.

Same situation. I remember buying the SFIV alts… I was young, I was naive, it was a simpler time, and I didn’t realize how most of them were total shit anyways. We payed for SFIV, we payed for what was on the disc. To hide some of it away is ridiculous; to charge for it to be unlocked is just fucking low. And now many of us are going to be buying another SFIV with Super, adding our commitment to the game (sans fight-sticks, DLC, etc.) to a grand total of $100 (give-or-take), and they want to fucking milk us for another $25 for costumes? Show some fucking gratitude, CAPCOM, and stop taking advantage of a largely retarded fanbase like this. It’s classless. Of course, none of the downloadable content is necessary to the game, we all admit that. The point is, though, that it’s an ungrateful company trying to fuck over it’s hugely loyal fanbase, and that’s just a dick move. As a previous poster said: DLC is for hours of gameplay, not aesthetic shit whose data is already on the bloody disc. Take a good look at Grand Theft Auto IV, Fallout 3, hell even Map Packs for FPS’s.

tl;dr
It’s a scam of a move CAPCOM is trying to pull on its customers (many of which are loyal, supportive [i.e., Machineking], and willing to buy them out of said support, stupidity or some combination), and that’s why we’re complaining, not because we’re going to have to pay $5 for Mecha Gief.

edit: oh, the guy above me stated my point pretty much

Close but not quite.

has anything ever been mentioned on the cpu wearing different colours or ever outfits when you fight them? (when u buy them probs)

seems its always been the case, well street fighter 2 and 3, not alpha i dont think although they also changed the main colour

it would be nice to see, also for the avatars to be coloured and dressed like the chosen outfit, maybe even the vs screen too (although thats probably alot of work, maybe not, i wouldnt know)

Today I bought a large cheese pizza. For some reason they didn’t give me the option of toppings, but rather gave me a separate baggy of about 30 toppings. I thought the whole thing was strange but I took it all home anyways.

When I got home I put all the toppings on the table next to my pizza and thought about which toppings I wanted to add to my pizza. I reached for the onions and suddenly found I couldn’t add them to my pizza unless I paid a dollar!

Pizza box: “One dollar please”

Me: “Strange, why would they prepare all these toppings and give them to me unless I could use them? I mean I already have them on my table. I saw an ad that showed off a good number of the toppings and they didn’t say anything about an extra fee. Fine, I have a job and am able/willing to pay for these toppings even though this whole process makes zero sense.”

So I pay three dollars and buy mushrooms, onions, and garlic, but before I can finish adding them to my pizza…

Pizza box: “Sorry, but you can only buy toppings in bundles of FIVE.”

Me: “But I don’t want five toppings, just the three.”

Pizza box: “You don’t have to actually eat the additional two toppings, you can just pull them off or ignore the slices which are covered in the other toppings.”

Me: “Ug…Okay, fine, I’ll get mushrooms, onions, garlic… umm… chicken… err… and um… extra cheese I guess.”

Pizza box: “Nope, the bundles of five are preset and if you want to buy mushrooms, garlic and onions, you will have to buy the mushroom, bell pepper, feta cheese, extra cheese, and sardine bundle.”

Me: “But I don’t want all that shit. I guess I can buy like 3 bundles and only eat 1/5th of what I buy but thats seems like a waste. Gee, pizza box, it kinda seems like this whole system was designed against my favor and is just a shameless way for you to make money.”

Pizza box: “DUURRR!! Borderlands, Borderlands, Borderlands, Borderlands, Borde…”

In this thread: Waaaah.

Just buy the damn costumes if you want them. If not, don’t. If you want them, but you don’t want to pay? Go fuck yourself or get a job and stop crying.

Well, unlike rape, you would have a choice in this happening at all, considering that the DLC is OPTIONAL. /win

Capcom should go the PGR2 route and let the person who bought the game decide whether they want to spend the time unlocking alt costumes or if they would want to skip that process, they can purchase them.

Believe this news. Never seen so much cryin’ about Barbie dress up mode.

/Thread win!

Seriously you ppl bitch more then wow nerds after theire epics start to suck!

I kind of accepted the whole thing the first time around, but with all the talk about “free costumes” and rewarding the fans, this felt like a real kick in the nuts.

Well said.

Capcom isn’t the ones being ungrateful about this, it’s you guys. I mean you wanted a new street fighter game and they’re giving it to you(SSF4), you wanted new characters in the game and you’re getting tha(possibly 10 of them mind you), you wanted new modes and you’re getting that, you wanted improved online and you’re getting that, and I’m quite sure a vast majority of you guys nought the costumes for sf4 and they said those will carry over to super(which you asked for) so it’s not like you won’t have any alternate costumes in the game because you’ll have the ones from the first game. And the truth of the matter is, capcom absolutely never said that the fortunes were going to be free. People believed the bullshit that that unreputable french site fed you and you believed it.

The thing about the costumes being free was a rumor and you guys believed it because it was what you wanted to hear and you guys got all giddy about it even though it wasn’t closed to being founded. Rumors are things that could or could not be true and their ror wound up not being true.

If you want to pay for the new alts because you like them or you just want to support capcom, then do it. If you think the costumes suck then don’t buy them. But just keep in perspective that you guys are getting close to everything you wanted.

And we wouldn’t even be having this conversation if capcom was so ungrateful and never listened to what you wanted.

What does that even mean? That’s not the point of discussion at all. We’re all “grateful” that Capcom is releasing the game, but Capcom is a business. Sure, it’s fan service, but they’re also trying to make money.

You make it sound like they’re a fighting game charity that releases expansion packs because they love us so much…

And just FYI: Unsatisfied =/= Ungrateful, look it up.

Just FYI for those who don’t know, Ryu’s costume is from Ryu of Breath of Fire 4

You TOTALLY dropped the ball on this. But I won’t bring dictionary definitions into a videogame forum to make myself look intelligent.

Most of that talk seemed to come from the developers; unfortunately, they aren’t the ones who get to make the ultimate decision on that, it’s the publisher. They could have pitched the designs to the company as something free for the fans, but it’s really up to marketing/financial to make the final decision as to how that content is going to be implemented. Your “Ono’s” and your “Seth’s” really don’t get much of a say in it, ultimately.

Publisher figures they can make money on it (because Viewers Like You have shown to be willing to pay for it), they’re going to try to make that money.

None of it has any effect on the core game, buy it or don’t. I personally see it as a way to give Capcom a lil’ money tip for doing such a nice job on a game I like and will no doubt be playing two years from now.

Also: Robot Zangief. Yes. Do It.

Wait, what? I don’t recall a lot of talk about “free costumes” coming from developers. The closest thing I remember along those lines was a mention of “if you bought a SF4 disc, we’ll have a bonus for you in SSF4.” and a lot of “I bet that means free costumes.” from internet forum speculators.

Damn those internet forum speculators!

Edit: It Was The French.

Somewhere in that “few pew pew” talk is the origin of the rumor.
