Yeah, I read that, but who cares, it’s just bullshit. Maybe it’ll be funny 5 minutes for like twenty mecha fans japanese guys, but who wants to play with that ?
Right here, my friend: http://media.eventhubs.com/images/2010/01/26_blog01.jpg
Seth’s ALT is with DeeJay’s ALT pick. if you can find it…it is really hard to tell by Seth’s ALT.
99% of the people that posted in that thread. It was pretty sad.
Yeah…after reading the Nakki blog, about buying the ALTs…huh. Having the ALTs free would have made people…especially the Ryu, Chun Li, and Honda…seal the deal.
But it’s just a costume…not like that make the character change their stats…or could they? Lol that would be different.
I don’t see why this is a big deal. If you don’t want to buy them then you don’t have to. The ALTS last time were for purchase, and many people who wanted them bought them. I can see that maybe it was misleading as to if they would be free or not. Still, it’s Capcom’s decision. Buy em or don’t, easy as that.
Hurry up and release images of Bisons new alt dammit!
at this point capcom should just sell the game at full price then give you all the Alts… I dont see whats the point of selling it for cheaper if your gonna have to spend another 25 dollars for alts… I am aware that u can opt to not get them if you dont want to, but lets be honest they shouldnt even bother with Alts if they are not going to add them in the game included anyway. Things they should be charging for as far as DLC should be additional Backgrounds, Avatars, and Titles. Possibly even the ability to do your own Color Scheme and Name change for character Pallets (Like CVS2 console) or Additional Bonus stages (Flaming Barrels/Bricks etc) . THAT i would pay for, stuff like costumes should not be an extra charge…
All of those things are purely cosmetic alterations to the game, except bonus stages which you’d only see in a one-player game anyway, so what makes it okay to charge for titles but not costumes?
The most obvious explanation would be backgrounds/icons/titles are things you don’t particularly care whether or not you have, but you’ve gotta have those outfits, and the fact they cost additional money is upsetting. If that’s the case, then that’s why they charge additional for them. Because people will pay. Do you think people will seriously pay extra cash to have a new background which would only show up on their side of a network game anyway?
I think it is hilarious on eventhubs that people are talking about committing acts of sexual violence on Capcom’s employees for this lol. Eventhubs is the most troll filled website ever.
But seriously, if you are crying about $30 for costumes, you do not need, then you probably have a gambling, prostitution, smoking, drinking, drug, or live in your parents basement.
I bought all the costumes for SFIV, and I do not even play most of the characters, but I did it because I want to support of Capcom and encourage them to make more Street Fighter games.
You guys can cry and put icy-hot on your ass because you’re butt hurt, but please stop filling forums all over the web with stupid ass posts about killing members of Capcom.
The point about charging for pseudo content that’s already on the disk and that doesn’t add diddly squat to the replay value of the game, nor content that had extra curricular time allocated to is development, is not about price. It’s about greed and the fleecing of gullible gamers through the agency of this dastardly DLC phenomenon.
This is the thin edge of the wedge. If people don’t at least voice their disapproval their inaciton will send the message that ‘anything goes’, and before you know it, companies will hold essential game elements back and effectively force you to pay more if you want full enjoyment of the game. MMO style.
Would you pay more for brakes to be installed on you car once you crashed it 5 mins after driving it off of the lot because it’s considered by the dealer as an ‘optional extra’? Well, get ready to do the video gaming equivalent of this if you keep shrugging your shoulders at developer greed. Mark my words.
If I pay 40 or 60 dllrs for a game, I’m already paying for whatever its inside the game data, I don’t have to pay to “UNLOCK” something, unless its optional (ala not wanting to pass the game with every character and buying a 2 dllr unlock key). I didn’t buy any of the outfits of SF4, one of my cousins did that and pass it over, but I’m not willing to pay for extra outfits at all, specially when they are in the disc.
At least with the DLC done AFTER the game is done, makes you believe you are actually buying something “NEW” that can’t be found in the disc, in this case I don’t feel bad spending my money. But paying for Extra outfits is stupid anyways, look at Tekken and VF, why can’t Capcom make them free?
You should shut up. If the DLC was EA patching Madden 10 to match some mid-season changes, and some extra retired All-Madden then you would be bitching.
At the very least it should be on a character basis. I only want: Balrog 3, Sakura 2, and Cammy 3.
Where the hell are you guys seeing Rose’s alt
Have we seen Ken and Vega’s 3rd Alt Yet? Pardon my noobness I am tired of going through all these pages.
Yeah Machineking’s post bugged me too.
Its the principle of the issue. SF fans are massively involved and loyal. All the community building, tournament organizing, video making and so on that we do helps the sales of the SF series and Capcom. Lets face it, SF rules the fighting game scene BECAUSE OF THE STRENGTH OF THE COMMUNITY (and not because its the best fighter out there). Its almost like a team effort between the community and the developer. We want more SF so we create a demographic of SF players and make the scene something fun to be a part of.
So whats Capcom do? The shadiest, lowest, slap across the face move I’ve ever seen in gaming. Its almost like they are totally disconnected from how DLC works AND a complete disconnect from what this scene has done for their franchise in the US. All this can be summarized by one large issue… Capcom is a Japanese company and we can’t hold a Japanese company to the same standards of other DLC releasing done in the US. Look at TF2, any Bethesda title, any Bioware title, Borderlands, and countless other western market games. DLC isn’t a way to nickel and dime and slap your costumer in the face, but a way to sell mini-sequels/addition to current game content (addition to current game content… why does that sound so ironic… OH SSF4!). I really feel like Capcom doesn’t understand the current DLC standard we have in the states and is making a move which is a complete misunderstanding of the medium. It shows a complete misunderstanding of the foreign market, but then again we are talking about Japan.
Next up, I feel bad for Seth because in the end hes going to look like a douche bag. He was a icon in the gaming scene… one of our champions. Now hes working for Capcom (woo! rah!). But what happens when the important people overseas make bad moves? Seth is forced to back an unbackable position. Hes forced to turn to his former brothern and fumble through unreasonable arguments in order to make his new master not look like a collective of dicks. Its like an atheist forced to argue for the existence of a god because his girlfriend is in the room and becomes highly offended when her faith is trampled (and we all know how fast some people will turn on the truth when pussy (money) is at stake). I’m of course referring to Seth’s god awful Borderlands analogy. I’m not even going into how funny it is that he related buying a 10$ DLC that adds hours of new game content that wasn’t finished at the time of release to 25$ of cosmetic alterations that were finished by the release AND are already on the disc! I could keep going on about this but I won’t because I’d like to forget that he even attempted this argument.
And we were already told it would be free.
And we were already shown the costumes in a “feature trailer”. (Oh shit does this mean I will have to pay for new ultras, characters, and stages seen in the trailer!?!)
I’m done for now.
Damn… Now I’m torn… Is the DLC a big deal… or not…? A good discussion going on now? In this forum? What’s that? A piece of sky falling?
I noticed that too. Now that the 3rd ALTs are not free…are people really busting there balls over an accessary, that does nothing for the character?
The only argument I see for the costumes, are the packs. For the most part…I want to pick my costume of choice…not pay $5 for Guiles ALT, and never use the rest. If they gave you the option to buy 1 costume for that 1 character…then I’d be think it’d work itself out.($5 bucks isn’t a really big deal though, is it?)
i’d try and put more weight toward an arguement that before this generation there wasnt really any dlc and we still had extra costumes in games.
now there is dlc why should these things be dlc?
regardless of wether or not they are on the disc why do i have to pay extra for this stuff?
the only reason is you want more money than you did before.
i will most likely buy all the costumes just for the sake of it but on the whole dlc is just charging for things that would have been part of the games in past years gone.
Thats like agreeing to have a rapist fuck you in the butt but stopping before he cums… OF COURSE they are going to continue fucking you every way and chance they get. As always, the rapist chooses the terms of the rape.
Both sides of the free vs non free DLC have made good points. Honestly though, the only way anything’s gonna change is if on the whole the Alts don’t gent purchased. Otherwise anyone who really believes the DLC should be free but is buying it anyway is giving Capcom the green light to continue doing what they’re doing.
