Wait… so his normal Zonk can’t be FADC’d? I thought it already couldn’t. D:/
And walking speed is increased or not since it seems like a mixed group here… :wtf: I never found this an issue though… I guess it’s because I’m a former Makoto player… till I met SSF4 Makoto. :wasted:
Also, even MORE range on a mk Ruffian?! Seriously?! That already has the largest reach of the three! :3 I feel like I’m gonna be pretty happy with new Cody.
Am I the only one who immediately notices the increase in his walk back speed? I mean he’s no speed demon still but hell I can definitely see a performance increase of exactly what we were asking for. Up close ex zonk seems much more viable now because it doesn’t telegraph the move as much and its more deceptive because of the speed. Then again changes aren’t for certain and I’d have to be able to test it out.
Compare this video with the other videos and you’ll notice justin wong was getting hit frequently by ex zonks. I think because it travels not as far it might actually be a better reversal then how it used to be.
And actually mk ruffian had a pretty deceptive range, hopefully the hitbox actually extends at his foot now
I think since the range is shorter the release is faster…i also think his backpedal is as fast as his forward walk now…wong was gettin hella pissed tho but a proper zonk user has that ability…
honestly he needs faster forward walk speed and/or a kara throw and he would be sick. Anything else is cosmetic…
I’ve been using his hk kara throw (same range as mk but easier to do aka vega) and in all honesty its not to be taken lightly. I get a lot more throws using his kara throw. Plus I’ve been told that my pressure game is much more scarier now. I used to not even bother with his kara throw because I also thought it was shit, but if you’re going for a throw you might as well be able to grab a little further/quicker/sooner. Just enough to scare them to initiate your frame traps better.
Could they make it better? Sure =) I’m always game for a buff up to my main character, but I’m satisfied as is and still learning to incorporate his kara throws better. Wonder what kind of changes they made to his normals though…
I think EX bingo is safe on block if you hit them with the tip of his knuckles, but a flat out safe on block ex hitting them from anywhere seems a little much.
If we get another Super(doubtful) how cool would it be if we got an Aegis Reflector type tornado thingy where he does a CU that makes a sustained tornado somewhere on the screen that you can push enemies into/reflect projectiles off of?
Hopefully the HK ruffian being able to his crouching opponents is true. So at least you could FADC out of it on block.
Not being able to FADC out of most of Codys moves and also punishable on block is exactly the reason why Codys defense is so poor.
I mean I don’t mind not being able it combo anything after a mk ruffian but should it be blocked then FADC into throw or cancelled into back dash could greatly improve his mixup game and defense. ESPECIALLY since other characters can do it.
Uh, the lack of productive FADCs and the fact that the moves are massively punishable on block are matters of offense. Which is the opposite of defense. And in any case, the one thing Cody already has going for him is the ease of hit-confirming anything that would lead into a finisher.
His defense suffers because his reversals suck due to a combination of slow startups and lack of invul frames. Bingo has upper body invul and EX bingo has full, but it doesn’t matter because the startup is 16-18 frames. That’s why his moves don’t auto-correct for shit: because of the startup, you have to use them before the crossup if you actually want the move to protect you from it unless it’s so far over that you could just dash under it.
All his tough matchups come from the fact that he’s just really fuckin’ slow even beyond his walkspeed.
“Because other characters can do it” is poor logic to why this character in question should receive it. Those other characters are designed differently and are completely different from Cody’s playstyle. If characters received tools simply because other characters have them, then you’d see 35 characters who are extremely similar which wouldn’t make for much character variety or interesting matches.
Yes, what you say is true but thats not really what I meant, being able to FADC out of a move is part of SSFIV’s game mechanics. Why is it that Hakan can FADC out of his slide attack and Cody can’t do it with lk ruffian… its not like it will create a new combo move or more importantly make Cody Overpowered in any way… All I ask is that these moves are cancellable at the cost of 2 meters, there should be no reason why he can’t.
