lol there’s a reason the most popular are in that 9 except for sagat … cuz otherwise they have bad matchups because they can’t deal with certain tools … like Akuma st. RH. Go play Gief v Akuma as gief or Gouken v. Akuma as Gouken than tell me st. RH is fair. Your opinion on the subject is much to bias given the nature of the move. It is a low risk high reward move for no meter, slight tweaking isn’t unfair.

SFIV Akuma has evolved to a setup machine that does this by spamming RH into knockdowns using cr. RH when he can.
lol at people saying it doesn’t beat focus absorb, only a couple characters in modern SFIV can beat it after absorbing the first hit consistently because they go under the second hit with their FA or it’s just retarded fast but again that isn’t a “majority” of the cast.
I think the Gief Akuma match up is a pretty even one. The fireball and teleport are more of a problem then the HK is for sure.
Also, SGS didn’t say a focus attack beats the round house. He said the round house doesn’t beat a focus attack, which it doesn’t. It’s not an armor break any more then two light jabs are. You have plenty of time to dash out of it leaving you with the advantage.
Anyway… the revised HK doesn’t really effect the Gief match up anyway aside from the loop, which no one really cares about. You use the HK as a far poke against Gief so the start up time there isn’t a problem. It’s the quicker characters that will benefit from the increased start up times.
Gouken’s “parry” move will make you regret spamming s.hk pretty fast since it take away 1/4 of your life every single fucking time. Gouken’s problems vs Akuma are other things
Try Vortex on someone with a spammable invincible move which is immune to cross ups. Limits your options to 3 effective results from the palm strike, flip throw and empty jump. And as superlollo said you can’t throw out far.HK against Gouken predictably or from max range as his parry beats it easily.
And you ABSOLUTELY CANNOT do cr.LP > cr.LP > cr.MP xx Fireball FADC far.HK in the Vegas build. I tried it out every time I had 2 bars. It doesn’t work. *subject to change of course

i dont understand why everyone is always akumas a beast, hes not he sucks one of the weekest char in the game especially in sf4 none of his moves are great not to justify his low stamina. His air hadoken is week its the eguivelent of jumping in the air and throwing a pillow at your oponent and its way to slow and he floats, almost all other char can punish him for it with little practice. His ultra is useless, any other char can combo into ultra and do a shit load of damage on him, akuma cant even do that for the same damage on your opponent so its useless. Demon flip is unrealiable sure u can land it but chances are u wont most times.Goukens demon flip is way more usefull. Red 3 hit fire ball is good only if the oponent does not expect it. The only thing hes really got is the high kick, and that only on the biger char like sagat. At the end of the day if your trying to play serrious and win u dont pick akuma you pick ryu, blanka , m bison, boxer or whatever. I play with him cuz hez a challange and fun to play with, but if thera gona gimp him more it just becomes pointless to even try that. They need to leave him alone, if anyithing he needs a little more health up to chun lis lv and its all good.
akuma can do demon flip palm vs gouken on wake up and gouken is forced to block.
if he counters, armor break.
if he ex tatsus, akuma is safe because of instant landing and punishes the whiff with his best combo.
if he backdashes, option select tatsu into combo.
if he jumps, he gets hit by palm.
the only thing gouken can do is block and then tech on wake up.
once akuma establishes this, his df throws are free.
i dont think the match is unwinnable for gouken, but it isnt easy.

Ruan, the match is clearly 5/5. While Akuma wins at his wake up vortex (even though Gouken moveset limits some of Akuma wake up options) and his GDLK combos, Gouken needs to hit him once with Ex palm to do a Raging demon damage to Akuma, gain better position and push Akuma to corner. Also Gouken is almost equal to Akuma in fireball war, maybe better, since they both have Demon flips, Gouken still do the bigger damage to a lower health counterpart. Also ground to air fireball > air to ground fireball since Gouken can recover faster and hit akuma with Ex palm or Mp palm (Hp takes time and Lp may not have the range). Also note that Akuma Ultra IS a threat regardless how hard people say it lands (infact it removes a lot of options from the opposing opponent), but yet Gouken can still do RD damage even without ultra (heavy punch to ex palm to tatsu hurts THAT much).
It all comes to who hits first and who still keeps hitting. Akuma and Gouken can control the space, both have good combos. Akuma has wake up options against gouken and gouken has his insane damage output.

Gouken has more options than 80% of the cast against Akuma after a sweep. And he does Honda level damage with his normals without the mobility or zoning problems.
