Yet another question (I hope you guys get used to me, I ask tons of questions lol): when I OS cr. lk and cr. jab, is there ever an instance where jab might come out instead of lk???
If you’re crouching, short will always have priority over jab.
When playing vs a really good viper that’s rushing you down and knows how to mix it up with everything they have, how do you handle the pressure or what can you do? I could handle it for a bit, just staying in there blocking everything, late teching some throws, then the next second they find a small opening and just blow that shit up.
I don’t FA burn kicks too much because even if i do absorb them, its like they always chip away at me and i lose the health anyway or i get hit and lose even more health. I do FA when i know they can give me some space between me and viper
I try to rarely use teleport/air tatsu and only use it when i know they’re going to go for something which gives me some time to get out and then i’m free.
if they even get a little momentum, i feel like i’m dead. viper is like the only matchup where I feel i really need to get lucky to win
It also goes the other way too though. If i get the knockdown or get them in a corner, I mix it up really nicely and more than often I get big damage. Its just that viper somehow always comes out at top at the end. she’s definitely my worst matchup
if you don’t want to FA burn kicks because you aren’t fast enough with your focus or for whatever reason it is, just use c.mk as a counter to seeing the burnkick. you’ll duck under it. Also, when she has you in her “block strings” with her lightning make sure you are backdashing, teleporting, or using SRK to get out of it. She can go back again and again with her knuckle but honestly the chip isn’t anything to be scared of and they are bound to go for an overhead at some point, so the other option is to just sit and block until you see that overhead or burning kick and FA it.
Akuma and viper are both glass cannons except akuma can start things a lot easier, has better wake-up options and better defensive options (but a little less health and can’t combo his ultra). So keeping on her is important too. You can safe jump her, so make sure you are safe jumping and ambiguous demon flipping in on her as part of your knockdown mix-up and make sure to be ready for backdashes by OS as well. Knock her down and she can be fish-food just as well as akuma can be if she knocks you down.
Another little tool specific to the matchup is to OS a srk from your c.mp during “block strings” to deal with them trying to use burning kicks to get over your c.pokes. And while you are at it, you’ll also constantly be setting up chances to land a counterhit c.mp which will let you either get a sweep, a tatsu sweep, or a hk combo…all of which will lead to a untechable knockdown.
Also understand that her burning kick pressure is safe on block, but gives her between 0 and -2 frame advantage so you will also be able to throw out a c.mp (OS srk/tatsu if you want) after a burning kick since her fastest poke is 4 frames and so is c.mp.
What do you do against blankas that turtle all day. Cant really take many risks when he has a life lead and i have eaten too many random ultras. Cant do much against the stupid character.
I’m having a real tough time against a Adon. His Jaguar Tooth is safe and I can’t seem to punish correctly. What’s the best way to handle Jaguar Tooth happy Adon players.
if blanka has a life lead it likely means that you have an ultra which means any move being blocked basically is a free ultra and a reset on health. Just creep up on him without jumping making sure to try and bait a response that you can block. Once you get somewhat close you just use a lot of frame traps and throws and at some point if he is over-turtley you’ll have him in the corner where even on HIT you can punish him. Although the short response is “try not to let him get a life lead” lol…
as for adon’s jagga toof you can either use s.hp or lp/hp srk to hit him out of the air (since you have FOREVER to respond to that wall jump animation), teleport away after you block it, srk after you block it (beats anything but adon blocking), constantly throw different variations of air fb (gets in the way of the post wall dive animation), backdash (might as well teleport though), or just block. The best way to handle them is to hit them out of the air with a srk/hp and to have fbs in the air a lot (builds meter plus disallows jaguar tooth to reach you). Jaguar tooth is NOT the move you have to worry about with adon.
Yeah if I see him jump at the wall I press HP, if he does a fullscreen one I hit him, if he doesn’t it’s even.
I have a question when fighting viper an other characters with good backdashed I have an issue putting them in the vortex because they are always back dashing now Gator stated above to OS a safe jump or a meaty palm strike if they back dash but what OS is it exactly that you use. Any input will help thanks

i use far mp in the same way it’s a bit faster but has obvsly less damage +stun, but the hitbox seems a bit more natural for cleanly beating his wall dives and less recovery lets you move in quicker if the wall dive’s not gonna connect. altho far hp has more range plus you can time it for a close hp which can cancel int flip on reaction for pressure.

Yep. Anything that lands like a normal jump can be OSed. You use to be able to OS the DF grab till it got nerfed.
quick question about bison matchup.
If you’re expecting an ex psycho crusher when they wake up, is there anything you can do to punish it. I always try demon flipping on their wakeup and ex-psycho crusher just comes out, best I can do is safe jump palm and block when I land, there must be a way to punish it, is there?
If you are point blank when they use the EX crusher you can punish it with a Ultra. The crusher is super unsafe if it is blocked anywhere except at the very end of the crusher.
just wondering how it is unsafe because if you dont have ultra, and lets say you block it, they’re too far away for you to do anything. So how do you punish it?
